    The younger ones probably won't understand. We didn't have the internet back then. Gaming wasn't what it is today. So TV series like this was EVERYTHING. There wasn't a single Asian kid who grew up in the 80s and 90s who didn't know this theme song. When you hear it, it's like your entire childhood comes flooding back. The feeling is indescribable.

      The more crucial factor that make this version a timeless classic is its faithfulness to ancient text. And its very strict selection of actors and actresses at that time.
      Creativity and technical skills back then is not their main focus. But faithfulness to the ancient text as much as they can was the director's agenda back then.

JTTW might be legendary to us East Asians, but its popularity doesn't really expand beyond the range of our region. However, I'm still glad that through Black Myth: Wukong, Westerners are finally able to get a glimpse into this epic tale!

      I disagree somewhat. It IS THE MOST faithful adaptation, but in terms of portraying the arrogance and badass of the monkey, Dicky Cheung got it hands down for the 1996 version. Too bad he couldn't finish it due to scheduling issues, but imagine if he did 🤔 the 2003 version sucks and 1998 season 2 with Benny chan was most cute and funny than badass.

    • @sebastianmoua2526
      @sebastianmoua2526 3 роки тому

      @@darkcrow7383 This is one of the more faithful version to the story. If the person has knowledge of the novel, you can see some of the scenes and verses used in the written novel. Even though it has aged, it's very authentic and uses as little cg for the background as possible some of the old interviews had the director say that they could have cg a lot of things but decided not to (as they were filming the 4 great novels at that time. I believe the dream of the red chamber was filmed a year before this.) The dedication put into this one stands out and is widely preferred by others to be the best one. All the actors in this series were pretty good.

    Its a living classic. The success of this version and its sequel is that they try to be a faithful to the ancient text as possible.
    Minor details like the monkey king's somersault cloud, the actor really perform real somersaults. Not like later version, just cheapen it by just jumping onto a cloud.
    Like the Iron fan princess fire mountain, they literally went to a desert or volcanic mountain to film it. Very direct visually.
    All the subsequencial versions are too twisted, too cheapen, focus on creativity but not faithfulness to the actual ancient text. It will be hard any version will win this version if first they dont stay faithful to ancient text and be meticulous detailed to every single scenes, props and plots.

    • @123airisuzuki123

    • @vanwangye
      @vanwangye 8 років тому +8

      Jenifer Chong ya. This series had many technic flaws. The tripitaka actor changed over 3 actors. Thr drama is spit into season 1 and 2 due to lack of budget.
      But the company strictness to the details and tried to be as faithful to the ancient text makes it a timeless classic.
      The actor who acted monkey king was a 3 generation family who acted opera version of monkey king since his granddad time.
      Every single guest character from kings, queen, demons, buddha, arhat, jade emperor, gods, village chief, temple abbot are all famous china stars of the time..willing to have a pay cut just to appear in the drama.
      Imagine even a simple guest character are 5 star actor or actress. How can this drama cannot be a classic.
      Even character like the actor of dragon horse, pigsy and sandy were carefully selected and under go some "TRAINING".

    • @vanwangye
      @vanwangye 8 років тому +2

      Jenifer Chong nowadays its very hard to find directors had faithful and loyal to actual novel. Whether from east or west, most of them are always desperate to show off their creativity and technical skills. But forgotten the true essence of the novel, scroll or ancient text had written.

    With a very responsible 3-4 directors, extremely strict cast choice, visually direct on scenes and sites, close to faithfulness to ancient text up from story down to even the costumes, very demanding on actors..

    在片头中,虽没有歌词,但那深情的曲调却能让人感受到取经路上的沧桑与艰辛,与唐僧在夕阳下骑马的剪影和孙悟空摇橹出海学艺的镜头组合在一起,能引发人们强烈的共鸣。开头由管乐奏起,加上电子配乐、古筝、琵琶等乐器合奏,曲子和整个故事为一体,描写了一往无前的大无畏的浪漫精神,而小号奏出的具有号召性的激扬旋律给人以一往无前的动力!!
    中合唱部分很优美的旋律,如同在空中飞翔一般,我们可以理解为是一种很浪漫的乐观主义对待前面的艰难险途。其中的不停的手鼓声充满了阿拉伯色彩,充满了异国情调,如同走在异国他乡,让人浮想联翩。曲子中的电子拟音充满幽默风趣,曲子最后的竖琴华彩和辉煌的结尾表示最后的美好归宿~
    《西游记》电视剧的音乐开创了在电视剧中电子音乐和民乐及管弦乐队结合的先河。它的音乐创作内涵之丰富,旋律之优美、剧情与音乐契合之到位,迄今为止无可匹敌!!!!

    Ladies and gents what we witnessed here today in the 20th century is the chinese taoist art of wu wei. Effortless action. Sweet baby tried to destroy this masterpiece but the universe turned on SBI and their woke barbarians. Game science didnt have to lift a finger and justice was done, the fans purchased the game making it the top most anticipated game on steam. This gave me the largest grin ever as a middle finger to the west.

    I regard it as the best beginning music of China series. Music, scenes, all that things are best.

    This and the 1996 version with dicky cheung is by far the best adaptation ever. Benny Chen was funny and cute, but man Dicky portrayal was the most badass ever in terms of power and fearlessness. 1986 will always be a classic due to it's faithfulness to the novel and it was more in depth than it's other successors.
