  • Hey All! Anna has not seen this film before this reaction, while I have, and it's one of my favorite movies.
This video is purely for commentary purposes, and is NOT a replacement for the original film. In fact, this is a poor replacement for the film, as there is plenty of voice over commentary. Please go watch the film if you have not seen it.

There is a deleted scene from where the writer is looking at the news clippings im the binder and one is from a Mexican newspaper talking about a sighting of Richard Parker. They decided to cut it to let the audience interpret the end

It's a better ending. Cause whether Richard Parker was real or not, doesn't matter. It's the story that matters, and what you take from it. Which story is the one you choose to believe.

Sincerely, without hyperbole, from the bottom of my heart... THANK YOU for checking out this gem. You may be the only ones. I've stopped suggesting this (and others like The Commitments, Gosford Park, Fabulous Baker Brothers, Remains of the Day, Stranger Than Fiction, Fly Away Home) to other movie reactors sooo long ago. And I don't know why I haven't had your channel recommended to me before (a fault in the uTube algorithm?) but at least I now get some new content to binge through, yay, lol.

I think it's because the nature of the film itself. Many people would give a reaction to movies with plain and literal scenes while Life of Pi is filled with a lot of metaphors and is a very philosophical movie, it forces viewers to think which would result in less reactions. But a lot of viewers don't want to think, hence why Marvel movies generated more sales.

I recommended this movie to many friends, but they didn't really like it.
I guess it's probably because most of this movie is performed by one actor.
Only those who love adventure, enjoy the fantastic and magnificent scenery of the Pacific, and always rely on themselves to live can enjoy the entire movie.

The lesson I learned from watching this film was that if wild animals like tigers were in the same situation as Pi, they might take each other's position without using their natural instincts as one of the "Kings of the Forest". The tiger probably feels that being with Pi is safe for him because he is a stranger but not threatening. It would be a shame if Pi became his prey in a situation in the middle of the sea where the tiger is nothing more than a stranded little cat. After Pi made it to the shores of Mexico, Richard Parker landed and went straight to his natural habitat. maybe in the Tiger's mind it wasn't like the fairy tale that he would look at Pi and thank him but Richard Parker thought, "I won't eat you because you have become a safe place for me in a strange place called the ocean and it's time for me to live again as the "King of the Forest" As it should be, you are no longer my concern from now on."

People always ask which of the stories about Pi on the boat was real,
what they don't connect is that is what people ask about stories about God.
Something over looked is how the tiger's real name is Thirsty and in the
Catholic church the first thing said to Pi is "You must be thirsty."
Lastly, if in the story Pi was the tiger in the story,
who was Pi in the story? Who would be crying having to believe
the Tiger had a soul? Who is claimed to be in the story all along.
My position is that in the story, Pi is God, looking over Pi.

    A very good reaction.
I wasn't going to comment anything and it's been a year since this has been posted but the comments underneath made me want to say something.
Every human being processes information differently.
If this was a disrespectful reaction with ignorance and poor input I can understand most of the comments here.
But this was in no way one of them.
The problem here is how insensitive they were? They were sensitive.
Just because someone isn't bawling their eyes out or showing expressive emotions doesn't mean they don't feel it. And even if they don't (which wasn't the case here) that too is fine. We all process things relative to how we experience and perceive things in life.
There is no right or wrong to emotions.
It is our experience and how we choose to approach situations with them.

While I respect you not liking our personalities, I think it should just stay at that, and not try to tell us our reaction was an incorrect reaction. We are two people who have upbeat and positive personalities. If you want to see people react to this whose personalities are more dour and stern, that is completely your option and I'm sure there's plenty other reactors out there for you to watch.
      Two points:
      1. This is a fictional story.
Yes, a lot of the events in this film are sad, but that doesn't mean everyone processes sadness and grief the same way. This is a fictional story and Anna and I are fully cognizant of that fact. If it wasn't fictional, we wouldn't be having as lighthearted a time.
      2. Humor is written into the story.
I would ask you to search Life of Pi and the word 'humor' on Google. A significant part of this film (and the novel) is humor. Humor is quite heavily used throughout the story to lighten the ENTIRE mood of the tale. I would argue that had Pi not had a sense of humor, he wouldnt have survived.

I'm sorry brother, disagree with you. Have you read Yann Martel's novel that is the source of the film? This is not a bleak and desolate and full-on tragic piece of work. There is comedy in it. Some people are able to separate themselves from real life and fiction. Does this mean we are not showing respect? No. Of course that's your opinion, and your comment will stay here untouched by me but again: Wholeheartedly disagree with you. I wouldn't spend hours editing and uploading a video for a film I didn't respect. It's one of my favorite films of all time, and I had seen it several times before I had my girlfriend watch this movie. Your opinion is a legitimate one, but according to this video's statistics, the majority of people do not take issue with our reaction.
