  • Kevin Blake is a magician, a mind-reader, a storyteller, and one of the most popular and sought after entertainers in San Francisco. His act, which tactfully blends comedy, storytelling, and psychology, has taken him across the nation, from independent theaters and comedy clubs to opening for Third Eye Blind. Kevin performs a special type of magic that deals with the architecture of choice-that is, how people form decisions. In this Google Talk, Kevin will discuss what the components of illusion tell us about the nature of truth and how to effectively design behavior in our work and personal lives.

What "insights"? No explanation was given for the two tricks shown. The rest was mundane generalities. During the Q&A he sort of tells a little bit of the coin "trick", but those are not really insights, just the very general methodology (reading tiny signs of body language).

Michael Hasenstein The insight shared by Kevin to an audience of tech. folks is the idea that their mission is no different from that of entertainers - they are in the business of creating experiences for their audiences and users. It's a perspective that can augment ones thinking thereby modifying ones approach to problem solving.
The key points of identifying and breaking audience/user expectations and assumptions is also valuable not only as supplementary to above, but has broad applications across many disciplines.
There are countless videos elsewhere on UA-cam for learning how to do tricks, but this isn't what the talk was about. It's about the intangibles of creating experiences in a way that engages users and audiences, which, by the way, is in large measure what Google is all about.

Cette citation est magique :) : « Toute technologie avancée est indissociable de la magie. » Arthur C. Clarke . Nous devons être attentifs et anticiper les attentes et
suppositions que notre audience vont avoir en accédant notre contenu.

What an awkward, unpleasant start to this talk, going on about his real name , saying 'don't mess it up' and then making a crappy lewd joke about penetration that fell flat.

says "im a story teller" and proceeds to say um way too much and stutter more than necessary.

He used the term "penetration" in the context of magic performances/tricks, which has a completely different meaning from "sexual penetration". So he wasnt telling a lewd joke.
