  • I got really bored and depressed by the boston weather so I spontaneously booked a solo trip to Bermuda. It was a short little trip but I thought I would vlog it to show how I travel as an autistic person. I learned that my vlogging skills were not very good because there is a lot that I wanted to say about autistic solo travel that I just forgot to mention. I hope to make a follow up sit down video sharing my tips and tricks for accommodating myself while traveling, keeping myself safe, and how i plan my trips. Please let me know in the comments if you would be interested in a video like that! anyway I hope you enjoy my somewhat chaotic vlog

    lol not sure what happened at the end😅 I tried to add in a new UA-cam feature and it caused a weird black screen situation. But I’m just going to leave it who cares

    She’s like the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen. I love how she can inspire so many - even though I don’t have autism she still gets me to understand other peoples struggles. Stay strong! You can do this!

    This is really inspiring to me. You’re inspiring, and in general to be honest with you, but I love to travel, but I have really bad social anxiety, so they kind of combat each other a lot.😂 and I normally see vacation, blogs, and stuff like that of families going, or a couples going around together, and I rarely see solo vacations, and it’s nice to see some like representation of that because it kind of gives me the confidence that maybe I could do it too. Also, I love plan things so, it’s giving me a little bit of confidence to maybe plan of vacation for myself in the future. I get lost a lot though, so it have to be a smaller scale one, but I can always work my way up to a cool vacation overseas.

    Morgan, I'm an autistic adult who loves solo traveling! Last month I took a spring break trip to Las Vegas and had a blast! No meltdowns or sensory overload whatsoever despite that whole city being sensory hell! I thank Stoic philosophy and being well medicated with cannabis for being able to travel like this!

    I loved this video! Although I'm Canadian, I worked in Bermuda from 1997-1999 at one the hotels. I've been to all those places. Memories! The reason I went was because I could not figure my life out. Like, at all. You are exactly like me. All the micro issues and the way you explain them. If I only knew back then, why life was soooo hard.

    I love to travel! As long as i plan ahead and have an idea of what i'm doing while I'm there my neurodivergence is fine with it. I've travel to Wyoming twice to visit my best friend by myself and I thought it would be scary to travel alone, but I really loved it!

    I'd love to know your process to plan for a trip. when do you start saving or how you budget and plan what you want to see and stuff.

      I plan trips by first picking a destination that has cheep flights during the time I plan on going. to check flights my two tricks are to use either skyscanner or go on to google and type in *your major city* to (example I say "boston to") and then click flights then click explore map. This allows you to see the cost of all flights leaving from your location all over the world. then once I have affordable plane tickets booked I look on apps like hostelworld and booking.com for my stay. I try to book private rooms in hostels. hostels are def the best budget friendly option but my autism cant handle sharing a room so i pay a little extra for a private room. But make sure you read reviews on hostels!! Then i research the public transportation systems in the location. If you are traveling in europe use the app Moovit because its like a GPS but it tells you what bus or trains to get on to get to your location its SUPER helpful. I also stalk google maps to see what type of restaurants are near where i am staying and i look at all the menus ahead of time to prepare myself for the food. If you take a checked bag fill it with your comfort food like crackers or granola bars or something that way you know at least you have some food you can eat. Then when I am actually there and traveling I break my activities up into half days. I either wake up early and explore all morning and decompress all after noon or sleep in and decompress in the morning and explore all afternoon. I learned that I cant be go go go and if i split days up into half days i am able to sustain the entire trip without burning out. last little tip, Tiktok is a great resource for inspiration on what to do, where to go, what to avoid, ex. There are autistic travel content creators on tiktok that give great recommendations about different locations.

    OMG! We've got very similar special interests! I love biology, anthropology (therefore, ethnobiology) and travelling, and that's how I got to work with indigenous communities here in Colombia.
    I also can relate a lot with your life and your struggles and you've helped me a lot explaining to my family how it is to be late-diagnosed autistic. I'm glad that you are making this content! Best wishes sincerely!

    • @morgaanfoley
      @morgaanfoley  5 місяців тому +2

      I don't get that many opportunities either but sense it is a special interest and it brings me so much joy, I am trying to build a lifestyle that will allow me to travel more in the future. the hard part about it is the cost of travel. I am a budget traveler that knows the tips and tricks to make travel more affordable but some of those things like bunk rooms in hostels and work exchanges are not accessible to me due to my autistic support needs. its frustrating to know that my disability makes travel more expensive for me.

    that charms people into fawning over her, then what value does this video have?
    ... It does indeed present information about Bermuda, the scenery and the cost,
    for anyone considering jumping into a solo vacation for a nice little break. "It's a little on the expensive side."
    That's what this video can add to your day. That is the useful information.
