You forgot to go: Inside the tank.
My m-48 52 tons was great in Vietnam like shooting a 90MM rifle, used shotgun round against NVA ambush at Dak to . 4th inf div. 1st plt. 10th armored.
They didn’t go in the tank cause they usally go into the tank in the 2nd vid
h
Yeah, you have to go to part IV to actually get a look inside it..
Because it’s hitlers top secret tank.. duh
😂
This video should be called “this tank is damaged” instead of inside
You want cheese with that whine?
@@elonlothbrok5991 that would have been a perfect title.
@@Fixingtodraw haha
the crew should have just used the small repair kit for the damaged turret
Only takes 30 seconds in war thunder.
24 seconds with a good crew

Can you imagine getting to RIDE this when they run it on special occasions? I rode several M1A1 tanks when I was in the Army, but to ride a Tiger I? Man, I'd geek out SO much!
German engineers at the time certainly made some beautiful weapons.
Edit: I just wanted to give credit where it’s due in a subject I’m very passionate about, and I created a war in the replies that is lasting almost as long as wwii. Welcome to the internet.
Caboose 117 - True. But the allies' cheap, ugly weapons were generally better. As to tanks, Shermans and t-34s were both better than all German tanks in the early war, and the allies had the sense to make thousands of them instead of putzing around with hand-crafted wonder weapons. Tigers look great though, I'll grant you that. But I'll take Shermans over Tigers - at least my tanks will arrive on the battlefield.
@@twirlipofthemists3201 race mixing is child abuse
@@tigercat418 Only if you use a blender.
@Lang Hansen True, but I was saying the cheap allied tanks were better tanks, not just more numerous. Especially in the early years.
Germany didn't have a strategy. They assumed the USSR would crumble, and when it didn't Germany was doomed.
@Lang HansenOh, and: The Germans outnumbered the Soviets for the first couple of years, in manpower and in most other categories. And neither US nor USSR employed swarm tactics.
The Tiger-1 models are my favorite tank from World War II. just love it.
Love these tanks, my dream is to visit this museum and see this beauty in person

Man you can see that the British churchills barely stood a chance against the Tiger 1. Look at all the shots that hit it but didnt do any actual damage. The only thing that stopped it was a lucky shot at the turret.
METALLICARULES11 Churchills weren't designed to deal with other heavy tanks. For what its worth it's not like Tigers or even Panthers were very common tanks, actual encounters on the Western Front were pretty rare.
I know but still a good army is an army prepared for an encounter against anything.
+METALLICARULES11 if it would cost millions to arm and train your army for every possible encounter, you'd run out of money before running out of possible encounters.
I guess but it was still kind of sad that the Churchill was the most powerful Tank britain had and here severals of them were losing to one German Heavy
+METALLICARULES11 they were totally outgunned and outranged by the Tiger and Panther. Bear in mind a Churchill MK III only had a 6 pounder gun. That's a pea shooter compared to the later 78 or 75mm the MK VII had. That Tiger was disabled for two reasons:
1. Yes it was a good shot. I refuse to say lucky. After all they were trying to hit it, it didn't ricochet off a cactus!
2. They were braver. They took casualties and kept coming, firing on the move until the Tiger crew couldn't stomach it and ran. That must have taken some balls.
48th RTR. FEAR NAUGHT.
That’s such a frightening piece of battle gear. Cool to see it still exists.
Thank you so much for this video.
My great grandfather commanded a Tiger and served with Wittman in Normandy.
I have such fond memories of listening to his stories of his service.
You are very lucky to hear stories about the Tiger Ace. I stood on the spot where Whittman's Tiger 007 was destroyed August 8 1944.
Beautiful welds on that beast. All stick; what a lot of work.
Yeah but compare those welds with the ones on the hull of a King Tiger used in the Battle of the Bulge. That tank sits in the Belgian village where it was captured and is shown in some guys video.
welds better or worse than this Tiger?

Had the pleasure of actually speaking to David Willey on a visit to the Tank Museum last year. He's a top guy and loves to talk tanks :D
A True masterpiece of German engineering.
the Japanese lead the Germans in engineering mechanical reliability and value where it counts especially with motor cars
majorgeeek
I disagree. Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes Benz are all fantastic German car manufacturers with a proven history of high quality cars that spans from the very first automobile ever to today. Japanese and German cars are entirely different in their own way, sharing very few similarities except for the simple fact that they both burn fuel.
Commander Shepherd
don'r get me wrong I like German cars but check out the reliability specs - you'll find Japanese cars are more reliable and present better value
Mercedez Bendz, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen
German engineering is better to me than the japanese clear that japan is also very good and also the japanese brands are cheaper than the German.
Hello fellow GS

Amazing tank, history will remember it for thousands of years onward.
And what a capture that was, imagine being the 1st allie to look inside, amazing
It’s an awesome machine, I live about 25 mins from bovington tank museum, been there a few times. Good day out for anyone who loves tanks. The whole area is tank dedicated.
Amazing .... the skill and professionalism of our tank crews during the African campaign is to be marvelled at... to fire a round with the purpose of wedging the round in-between the hull and the turret is astounding ... I'm gobsmacked !
not sure that was the purpose. Kinda like the British aerial torpedo that just happened to jam BOTH Bismarck's rudders in exactly the wrong direction (as it was in the middle of turning here and there avoiding torpedo attack) just as it was to escape British net following its sinking of HMS Hood and battering of HMS Prince of Wales.
@@teller1290 To be honest teller I didn't think for one second that they 'actually' made that shot on purpose . But I am very happy they did because it probably saved their lives .

Tunisian here speaking, the place he's talking about where the tank was captured is called "Mjez El Bab" in the north of Tunisia.
Tigers have to be my favorite tank in the whole world
I prefer the Renault FT-17 or the Panzer 4
Once again, great series, the best by far on the subject. I was at Bovington in the late 1990's and had the pleasure of meeting the curator and he took me to the shop area where they were just finishing up the restoration of this tank. What a great day for an old tanker seeing the excellent work they were doing. Could not but help comparing the care they give to this great collection and the sad lack of care we in the US give to ours at Aberdeen and the Patton Museum at Ft. Knox. But at least at Knox the tanks are inside with all their original paint.
Apparently the Tiger tank you see in the film 'Kelly's Heroes' was actually a T34 with a false body on top. Another sign is the wheels which don't overlap as would a Tiger. It just shows how hard it was in 1970 to find an actual working Tiger.
One of the most beautiful tanks ever! Playing Battlefield 1942 with Tigers is awesome =D
Everything german is perfection
Fascinating video of the massive Tiger I.
I can't believe that men like my father actually fought in WWII against these mechanized monsters. The sheer terror of going against these beasts must have been a nightmare and truly beyond the comprehension of any modern day civilian to even begin to understand.
In 1977/9,while posted over the road from the tank museum, I spent most of my free time over there making friends with the staff and curator. I was allowed to climb on and in tiger 131and had access inside. Never to be forgotten experience.
Is it just me or am I the only one that is amazed on every damage on tanks ? I find it so fascinating to see how the rounds have bounced off,the holes and all that, it's truly amazing...also story of this Tiger 1 is so interesting...so that's why the "Tiger 131" is so famous
I once met a veteran (he was 18 at the time, in 1945) and he told me that they were driving to the front in a brand new Tiger, but with no ammunition to shot. Consequently, they abandoned the tank and sunk it in a lake where it probably still rests in peace.
+schurli blumenstein xd r.i.p tiger
+schurli blumenstein i know where 3 tigers were abandoned/destroyed in ww2 on the eastern front by a heavy tank battalion. he crew commanders were nearly court martialed for doing it, but they couldn't cross the river and the Russians were closing in. Some of you may know what unit I am talking about, and I still speak to the vet to this day who was a commander of a Tiger (not the ones that were abandoned)

Thank you for putting out this information and preserving a piece of history.
Fab we are there soon
what i dont understand about the tiger 131 why the crew didnt simply retreat why abandon when the engine and running gear are fully operational.
Who knows its a mystery.
i wonder if somehow the tank ran out of fuel or something cause the only showed damage near the crew was the shell lodged under the gun mantle and the loaders hatch neither of which could of injured the driver so im truly curios what happened was there any blood in or on the tank showing maybe a crew member was injured or was it clean
Wargaming Europe How much HP does that tiger have left ? Or wait.. There is no thing like HP... But in WOT .. A light gets hit and tank explodes...
sometimes you can walk on foot faster than you drive in a tank.
but walking on foot doesn't put a plate of steel between you and the guys shooting at you.

Top Notch preservation of this Classic Tiger Tank ! A real terror to meet on the battlefield !
It's so cool seeing them restore the tank and drive it around.
The crew abandoned the Tank ! but they've must be living until 80's or 90's ! smart move !
didn't say whether they were captured or not. I guess not, since we'd know their names upon being captured. That means they likely made it out of Africa and could have been killed in Russia, Poland, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, Hungary, Rumania. Be good to find one of them and get the story. he'd be 95 now.
Perhaps they got out to fix the turret and were shot?
I knew WW2 and modern tanks before I got World of Tanks :P

@@YholdPL Beacuse he is dangerous like tiger, his engine is roaring, and he can easily kill something, like a tiger, Tigers kill other animals even speedest ones, that also refers to the tank, it "kills" other animals (tanks) even speed ones.
Cebulowy not really, tigers have no stamina due to their weight, they a heavy compared to other felines, so if there’s a fast prey I rlly doubt they can last longer than 1 minute chasing it at max speed. College knowledge baby. Either way I like to debate about everything.
My viewing experience was basically:
50% fascination with the information being shared
50% frustration with the obscene lack of *going inside!*
In 1975 as a young junior leader soldier, I was stationed at Bovington. I got inside inside this Tiger and hid from the museum staff who were looking for us at closing time. We got locked in eventually! Those were the days! I later went on to be a tank troop sergeant in the Queens own Hussars tank regiment!
this is an absolute treasure!
Fascinating story of Tiger #131.
still the best tank ever of ww2
desmond ande It proved to be horribly unreliable and got stuck in mud and ditches etc.
Charles Mu to take out one tiger. they used roughly 4 shermans as decoys so the 5th one could get around and shoot it from behind.
Charles Mu
yup but only the firefly can go head to head against a tiger in a 1 on 1 and win, no other allied tank can do that not even the russian Is
desmond ande t34 was the best tank
Charles Mu In terms of production value and overall force on the battlefield the t34 wins
A beautiful machine! I'd love to visit that museum.
This beast drove past me on Bovington arena about three feet away. I couldn't believe how quiet it is compared to others. It is something you have to see live, in action.

It's a Miracle it didn't end up on the targeting range! Most captured tanks sent to the US didn't fair so good.
Its a shame that they didnt recognise the historical value of equipment and preserved it back in those days, even with their own gear.
During the beginning of the battle damage shots, they're describing the turret ring shot but showing a close up of the lifting stud. It was a little confusing until they later explain that it was a separate shot.

Tiger 131 was in the Tiger in the movie Fury. One hell of a movie.

Beerrunner81 Terrible movie
Beerrunner81 i
ive played in and around this tiger and many other tanks from the tank museum before the museum became what it is today .The museum only had one guy manning the entrance desk and he also used to look after the museum itself, so we as kids we we used to climb and explore everything we got in most of the tanks from underneath prob the escape hatch.
I play war thunder though, but the amount of effort you people put into the channel is astounding
These Tigers were a very maintenance intensive machine. Every 1000 kms, the engine and the transmission had to be replaced or rebuilt. The driver's visor block was also very vulnerable and a real weak point operationally. They were also massive gas guzzlers. Really a poor candidate for steppe warfare.
Then think aboigerut the King Tiger and it's problems. To damn big for those roads in Normandy.
+Wargaming Europe When will you feature Panther tank? My favorite tank and best tank in WWII
+Alpha Adhito Its in the planning
Tiger 1 is most feared tank in WWII
+Wargaming Europe Thank you so much
idk what are you talkin about.. the overally best tank is considered the t-34 due to many reasons like decent quality.. economics.. reliability.. speed and demands of production.. while the most feared late war might be the german tiger II as it was almost impenetrable if operated with skilled crew.. many russians feared getting in contact with that beast as they knew many were not able to penn him from the front while their kwk 43 cannon could get thru them like a knife thru butter
NotEvenDeathCanSaveYouFromMe tiger 1 is most feared that is all we said idk what you ate talking dumbass
Question;
The WWII Tiger, fitted with appropriate upgrades, be a threat in the Middle East conflicts of today.?
More than likely. Chances are, only things strong enough over there to maybe do serious damage would be an RPG or a big ass IED. Allied tank rounds would gouge out the armor, but could barely pierce it, so I doubt some goat farmers would have much that’d be strong enough.
I doubt it, the Syrian army actually fielded several hundred german Panzer IV tanks against the Israelis in 1967 and they were completely outclassed even back then.
Love they took it apart and put it back together, I am sure in some file somewhere every bolt is cataloged, what a huge win, knowing all your enemies secret weapon, bet them boys that abandoned it said they destroyed it
"Tiger, thirteen footer. You know how you know that, Chief? You can tell by lookin' from the dorsal fin to the tail, well we didn't know!" - Capt. Quint
I heard that tiger was on the movie fury
It was indeed
Was damaged during filming afaik.
Yes it was but this film is bullshit because tiger in this film goes against sharmans. But the tiger was not allowed to shoot in the move. This film rly isnt good as well.
arthas304 you do realize the barrel is probably incapable of firing, many weapons and what have you are ya know, DE-MILITARIZED. I bet the Sherman's barrel was a movie prop barrel capable of handling movie explosives, but not a real shell.
thefanification It was cgi. They never fired the tanks.
Every time I see a Tiger i feel sorry for the allied tankers that had to face it knowing it could utterly destroy their tank with one shot long before they could get within range.
exactly.....I saw a video a while ago about how it took 5 shermans to take out 1 tiger and only if they were in range (close in). So 20 soldiers died taking out 1 enemy tank and that was acceptable to the allied commanders. Why? They had an unlimited supply of tankers ready to die for the cause. I don't think any allied tank had a chance until the firefly was introduced.
@@muskokamike127 they had a high chance the Sherman 75 crews found why's to kill a tiger like firing smoke shells at the tiger forcing the crew to abounded the tiger
if i ever win the lottery, how much to build me a Tiger.
***** well if you have the money , you could just have the parts made....it will cost prob, millions......you don't need original parts, just need to make new parts, which would be waaaaay for expensive then finding the parts, but if ur rich, its possible
a ball park figure in millions
There is actually a company in Russia which makes working replica's of the Tiger! Not entirely historicly accurate (They put a diesel engine in it), but it "only" costs half a million dollars!
hope to win the lottery very soon then.
Thanks for the information
Hell yes, millions, but I want exact specs, new parts and engine tho, modern armor materials.....I will be sexy and unstoppable!
wow. thank you wargaming for making this a video. this is simple incredible to me. a real part of history.
I visited this tank last year in Bovington I got some photos with it and saw it running :) one of the guys there said it was captured in Tunisia after a round got stuck in the turret and the crew abandoned it!
In Willers Bocage Wittman wiped out 15 intruders tanks 14 apc ' s and an anti tank gun. All this In 15 minutes including ammo reloading. In total he killed 140 tanks and even more russian anti tank gun crews. He had an opportunity to step back which he did not do. Finally he was killed by 5 allied tanks. In general this shows the difference In competence between the parties. One should remember that the war was In the East and happenings after D- day were a minor exercise.
Noob Commander how
""One should remember that the war was In the East and happenings after D- day were a minor exercise.""
Not true. Normandy was massive. 400,000 German troops and 2,000 tanks were lost in Normandy.
Normandy and Battle of the Bulge were as big as the battles on the eastern front.
Michael Wittmann lasted 2 years in Russia. He didn't last 2 months in Normandy.
Cameron Burge
the fight over Stalingrad cost one million men and was the turning Point of the war.
The Battle of Kursk was the biggest ever tank fight.
It took 200000 men from communists to win the final batlle of Berlin 1945.
Tapio Mäkeläinen
But I never said the battles in the east were small or minor exercises.
Normandy involved 3 million men overall. Nothing to sniff at. The Ardennes involved 1.5 million as well.
More German tanks and assault guns were sent to fight Normandy than were sent to fight Bagration. Nearly twice as many in fact. Well over 2,000 in Normandy.
The Caen area of Normandy saw the densest concentration of German armour ever seen in WW2. 8 Panzer divisions over around less than 2 dozen miles of front.
Panzer divisions by that stage in the war only had a single armoured regiment. 8 late war panzer divisions had less tanks than 4 early war divisions.
Why nobody likes the panther
panthers side and rear armor is too weak like a paper
+jeremias ribeiro Very underappreciated tank indeed. Especially for all of the ahead-of-its-time-features.
Afrika Korps Yes!
Atalareza Yuwono It's a medium tank man.
Medium tanks are the middle ground between the fast/agile lights and the heavily armored heavies.
The Sherman had thin armor too but it's also famous.
So no, it's not the armor that's the problem.
The issue here is the fact that it was overshadowed by the other cats.
+Afrika Korps You mean the copied design of Soviet tanks? Being the panther was based on them and only designed to go up against t-34's. It had a good gun but its armour was in fact mediocre... It looked good on paper and was better than the pzr 3+4 (of which it was supposed to replace) in terms of fire-power and defence but the allies had guns that could pop it after a while. Also they were not reliable and broke down even more than the other German tanks and were terrible on fuel (Both of which Germany was already bad at). I personally think the tank has in fact got too much credit as it gave nothing in design and was just a fancy gun.
Fuck me look at the size of that thing, they look way smaller WW2 footage
You should meet it in real life
And it's not even the largest tank used in WW2

one of my favourite places to visit. I love The Tank Museum.
The first production run of 40 Tiger I was rushed into action, 11 to Tunisia, 20 to Eastern Front and 9 to Leningrad. There were numerous mechanical failures and Maybach was able to supply only one spare engine and transmission for each 10 tanks. I picked up another interesting feature of the Tiger I. The gun was so powerful that the crew had to lock down the turret prior to a shot or the turret would be knocked off alignment. This made any kind of firing during movement impossible. That episode in the film FURY with the Tiger rotating its turret while the Sherman was circling...fantasy.
Tiger was way ahead any thing anybody had Sherman and the Russian T34
Like an actual tiger trying to fight a big pack of hungry dogs though, the big pack win by sheer number.
maybe you should drive a king tiger to school lol.
Tiger stronk tenk
It is interesting to note the artillery shrapnel damage to the rear body of the tank. It sounds as if one of the Churchill commanders had called for a artillery barrage at the tiger tanks coordinates on the battle field. Total panic is probably the best description of the crews state in the face of oncoming surviving churchill tanks, large caliber howitzer rounds landing around them. and a tank with a non functioning main gun turret. I do recall seeing a picture of a tiger tank in Tunisia that appeared to have been blown onto its side by artillery fire.
What's not to like about the video, it was very informative from a historical point. I didn't know Tigers were in North Africa against Monty.
The strongest tank in ww2

"We measure it, we record it.. etc etc" (yet we still send our tank crew off in stupid inferior tanks to face these things!) .. pffttt

@@habe1717 But he isn't wrong. After all the data they collected on the Tiger, they still sent our their own troups in tanks that they knew would get blown apart by the Germans.
Why didnt the Allies copy the Tiger then?
Al Mol because it wasn’t as good as everybody says of course, the tiger was unreliable and would break down all the time.

DudelPaul its true. And actually
Only a few allies face the tiger in battle
I HAVE Seen the CREW of this tank drinking beer last years OKTOBERFEST ,,,Very great lads ?!!!!!!!!!
I watched a video (Military History Visualized) were the uploader read the after action report of a very early Tiger engagement in The Soviet Union. There were something like 260 significant hits against this Tiger. The commander documents the very first hit (spare track bracket, lower front hull) to the end of the engagement. The tiger had everything that could be shot off it, shot off. The main gun and coaxial were inoperable as well as the bow machine gun gun. The road wheels, track, and suspension were all damaged, the commanders cupola was destroyed, the tank was on fire at least once and yet the tank still made it back under it's own power.
The tank was sent back to Germany and the hull was scrapped. The turret was used at a long range gunnery school after the main gun's recoil mechanism was repaired having been placed inside a casemate. The tank commander praised the resilience of the Tiger and said that it gave them great confidence to be in possession of such a magnificent weapon.
thats a lie! in the Tank Museum of Saumur in france there is a Tiger 1 and he works!!!!

Wittman best the shit out of allied with his gunner.
So ein Märchen 😂
And then he got 'cooked' by a Sherman 75.
OK; I had heard both stories--some say a regular Sherman others say it was a Canadian Firefly.
It was all about the gun. All you hear about is how thick the armor was and how many hits it could take. The beauty of the Tiger is in the 88 mm high velocity gun that it brought to the battlefield. Why were Allied tank crews afraid of the Tiger? Not because of it's armor but because it could hit and destroy Allied tanks before they could do the same to the Tiger.
German engineering at that time was something else, they were really determined to be resilient!
I read the book about this in Britain. Google it, "Catch that Tiger". Details the entire mission that lead to the capture of the 131 and the men who did it. It wasn't abandoned, it was attacked by a special unit with the purpose of getting a working example back to the UK. The crew was killed when the Brits attacked. Surprising that the museum wouldn't talk about such a great story. Its a true story taken from memoirs of Douglas Lidderdale. Great read btw!
Ah, interesting. Thanks!
This book is total fiction. Bovington tank museum has distanced themselves from it.
So I have heard, shame, I really enjoyed it.
Gonna say: dude. My grandfather was in the 48th, B squadron, and got knocked it of his Churchill in this fight taking this tank and the supporting tanks/guns on, he lost his best friend in this battle, and has to crawl back to the lines through machine gun fire on his hands and knees for two and a half miles.
The 48th captured this tank, and paid a damn heavy price doing so. You should read the letter he sent back to my grandmother the day after...
