People hear mistakes when he doesn't hit all the notes, but, as a musician, it's pure ecstasy hearing raw vocals even if it's a struggling voice, the emotion and vigor that you hear is what it's about. Not the superficial epitome of perfection that people always wanna see.

Patrick is one of the best singers out there, and the fact that he's having difficulties hitting the notes, it just shows how hard it is to sing live
He actually had fluff from the balaclava stuck in his throat! I was there and that's what he said after the song. He sang much better after he had a drink.
Look at M. Shadows singing Roman Sky Live and tell me It isn't great(It would surprise me if you did since its pretty good)or Watch A7x live in the Lbc,My point is Some people Just sound better in the studio and some are great regardless not saying FOB is shit :/

Since all you guys are talking about how Patrick didn't hit some notes, and got tired, I actually researched. Patrick once said in a interview that it's hard to go with the set list all the time because he needs to go at certain paces, and set up the order of the songs correctly. Patrick doesn't always have a powerful voice. (Jk ya he does but he needs to pace him self) So for all of you saying he sucked, let's see you try and hit all of those notes perfectly and breathe perfectly fine and have enough energy to sing a bunch of songs.

i wish people would stop complaining about how patrick sings in this performance. sure, he missed a couple of notes but do you realise how hard this song would be to sing live? theres all the high notes and overlaps and thatd be really hard. when artists record their songs, they have as many tries as they need to get it perfect, they dont have to worry about moving around, being hot, or playing an instrument, and they record sections of the song bit by bit and then pick out the good tries and splice them all together. its pretty rare for artists to be able to record their whole song in one go, especially with songs like the pheonix, where one line starts before the previous one finishes, or theres a long high note that could take heaps of tries to get right. artists dont have those any of those privileges when singing live. and besides, patrick actually did pretty well after the first chorus.

I just wished he could work on his usage of air a little bit more since he takes breaths a lot and most of the time it's at really at bad places too. But this still sounds great considering how hard of a song like the phoenix would be to perform live

Geann Gabriel Actually I checked the setlist, this was their first song to play which was both brave....but not that smart to do. If they're going to play their first song in a concert it shouldn't be a really freaking hard song like the pheonix. It's just my opinion though :-/
Guys chill the fuck out. Patrick is one of the best singers out there. So what he missed a few notes? He's still incredible. Everything he does in his rock band with a r&b voice? Who else does that? The answer is no one (or very very very very few). Quite expecting him to be perfect. Nobody is. No one ever will be. So just enjoy the awesomeness that is FOB and quit being mean plz.
I just think he needs to find more places to take a breath. A lot of rock songs don't do that, but we can't blame him for making good music, but he should try to look for areas in the song where he can take a deep breath for the next line.

Later on in the concert his voice is absoulutely magnificent though, and it was for all of this song except the higher notes as well. I enjoy singing and I can confirm that singing is difficult without a warmup, and high notes are an absolute bitch to get out.

Someone shouldn't have to be able to say things really faster and more pronounced to be labeled someone less than they actually are. Every artist is different, and to compare a rapper to Patrick is not logical or fair.

As badass as this is, making the singer use a thick black fully closed jacket and a freaking mask in a show is just cruel. You can see he was struggling to breathe D: Still, they managed to make an amazing performance. Awesome!
No one makes anyone do anything they don't want to do. Its part of the performance. When I saw them live Patrick he was doing the same thing. All singers voices get tired and strained from time to time. Its hard to do that as your everyday job.

Ok, sorry, saying "making" was a bit harsh. And, I know, I wasn't complaining or anything, I really liked the performance and it IS really hard-- which is exactly why most singers go for lighter clothing, and some still end up exhausted and covered in sweat. I know it's part of the performance, but you can still get a nice thematic design with lighter clothing, sorry if I came out as too harsh. xD

The good reason that Patrick didn't hit all notes, it's that he seems geniune. He seems like he's trying (he is) and that's what makes him a great singer.
To the ppl saying he ain't hittin the notes: Isn't he singing like the whole album in one performance here, or at LEAST a whole bunch of songs? This is a concert. He can't hit all crazy notes he does on the album song after song, he's fucking human. The recorded ones were sessions not an entire concert. Ya'll want him to fuck his voice up?

No lol, when the lights went out at the end of the song he took off the mask and put his fedora on, but it would have been cool if he had his fedora on over the mask.
Personally, I'm amazed that he can make the song sound this good live--not everyone can do that. His voice sounds amazing! This song is pretty hard to sing NORMALLY, because there are little breath-breaks in between the notes. I applaud Patrick for the wonderful performance!

A few things:
1. This sounds so awesome live (other than a few of Patrick's vocal mistakes, but that's normal when you've got fluff stuck in your throat), and this looks like it was so much fun!
2. I love the way Patrick says "time" in this
3. That awesome part when he says "heeey," was awesomely awesome
One of the things that I really love about their live performances is how they put a lot of effort playing in each of their songs even if it is tiring c:
I love the live recordings (sometime more than the originals) because there's something beautiful about getting to hear all the deviations from the music video's "standard". Just that in the moment lead vocal chorus, makes me so happy there's so much passion in the music.

Marta Koltowska sadly I do not, I started listening to them on Spotify after My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark came out. Since then, I fell in love with the Save Rock and Roll album and listened to all their old stuff too. I plan on buying the AB/AP album eventually though :D and I know they have lyrics in there for their songs too.

I took part in music because of these men and I can never seem to thank them. I wish they knew what they did for every fan but as for me. I will never explain enough that they have twisted my life in so many ways and gave me a realisation from what I can dream of to, what I can be. And I will try to pursue both.

Patrick isn't a bad singer in this. Neither is he not being able to hit some notes. He simply just needs to work on his breathing. He takes many breaths amd it makes it sound a bit off. Also, the breaths are at really bad places like when he says Phoenix. A lot of words are cut off because of him breathing during them. Besides it doesn't sound auto tuned and fake. It sound natural. Patrick is a good singer with a perfect voice and he has a great band.

I get they look cooler with the masks, but to be honest, Patrick was pushing himself way too much with that! He sounds even more out of breath than in other live performances, I bet he was lightheaded too.

TO PEOPLE WHO HEARD THE VOCAL BREAKS, when a singer first gets on stage, even after he or she has warmed up, they need to build up to the high notes in their songs still. THIS is the reason why Patrick puts the songs like Thriller, I Slept With Someone.., and Sixteen Candles in the beginning of their live sets because they are middle octaves, and he can build up to Phoenix and My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark. not everyone can hit that note..."I'm on Fireeeee" in that song. FOB started out with Phoenix to represent the opening song of the album I'm guessing? and that shit has some high ass notes. If you can hit those notes with more accuracy and originality than Patrick....my bad bro this doesn't apply to you

I dont know what people are talking about, Patrick's voice sounds awesome here, but of course it's not going to sound as perfect and crystal clear as the recorded version. When he's singing in the studio he puts all his energy into his voice, because that''s all he really has to concentrate on. It's completely different on stage where he has to move around and make sure he's in sync with everyone, and probably especially difficult with that mask. besides, when they're recording they do several takes and pick out the ones that sound the best. he's not going to be able to sing the same every time.
I wonder how hard it must be for Joe to put on that mask!

i went to a fob concert yesterday and actually was no one was jumping or singing to this song except me and my brother and i was so confused
So what he missed a few notes? No ones perfect Big deal he's an excellent musician and this is a really hard song to sing live I think he sounded amazing loads of musicians sometimes miss or shorten words when live to keep ahead for the next verse and he also had fluff in his throat from the balaclava but still 10/10 performance
Ahhhh! I can't get over Patrick's pronunciations and I love how he sounds so different when he speaks and when he sings. And those few consonants that he sorta slurs or whatever, I love those so much. Great performance
