The early church fathers are unanimous in claiming that Peter died in Rome, by crucifixion, during the persecution of Nero in AD 64. As for crucifixion upside down, that is also testified to.

Furthermore; sin is transgression of the law, therefore, repentance of sins is law keeping and is certainly a lifetime of works and has never saved anyone or contributed in any way to salvation.
Galatians 2: 16, 2: 21, Ephesians 2: 8, 9, 10, Romans 3 :28, Romans 4: 5, 6, and Romans 11:6, clearly seperate faith from works of any kind (Mosaic Law or the laws written on our hearts).
Faith that works is just another cleverly repackaged version of faith plus works equals salvation nonsense.
James is about our justification in the sight of men but not before God.
Abraham believed God and it was accredited to him for righteousness.
This was long before he ever left Ur or offered up his son on the altar.
Abraham was justified by God through faith alone.
Abraham was justified in the sight of men who would later read the account in Genesis and Hebrews.
Men can't see our faith but they certainly can see our works.

The elected 13th apostle (acts, chapter 1, verses 20-26) Matthias died in cause of natural death at the age of 63 (wikipedia.de). His grave in Jerusalem was opened 800AD by the knights of nothern Europe, where they brought his bones for saving the reliquias by bringing them to Trier (near Aachen), where the Roman Basilika St.Matthias was ready built in the 12th century. In it's crypta the relquias of the 13th apostle found rest for supporting to build up the christianity in nothern Germany.
In other words, there are numerous guesses and legends but no other widely recognized historically authentic accounts of death of any of the apostles and except for the writings of a few, especially Paul and the exile of John, no accounts of their activities in the Church after the crucifixion. I believe that we’ll know the truth eventually, but not from the historians or archeologists.

"Stretching out his (Peter's) hand" does NOT prove that he was crucified at all. He could be executed with his hands outstretched to the heavens to show that he was READY to face an imminent DEATH in the hands of CHRIST's enemies! IF Peter was also crucified to death, then why no narratives on this for Peter??
Why leave a very important piece of a history in fulfillment of of the phrase "stretching out his (Peter's) hands" purportedly being crucified and there's not a hint to suggest that he was crucified "up side down"; that's just a MYTH concocted by Roman Catholicism to "strengthen" their proposition that Peter deserved more to get the title of being the FIRST Pope of ROMAN CATHOLICISM!
