Love the idea of the soup and the chilli has all the flavours I love. On the countdown for the premier of the Taco Soup and the Tomato Sauce, cannot wait.
I’m new to canning. I wondered if you could use your regular chili and vegetable soup recipes and pressure can them. I’m on my own now and there is no way I can eat a pot of soup or chili by myself. I can’t make a small amount 😂😂😂 so I thought I would make my regular batch and then can it and that way I will have soup or chili whenever I want without eating the same thing lunch and dinner for a week 😂😂😂
The reason I've learned that you take the rings off after the first day is to make sure you have a proper seal. After 24 hours, I take the rings off, then I grab the jar by the lid to make sure it has a tight seal. You should not be able to pull the lid off with your fingers. Does that make sense?? Lol.
Pressure canning is for foods that don't have enough acidity. Things like meats and vegetables need to be pressure canned. Water bathing is for high acidity items like tomatoes and fruits. Hopefully that was helpful!!
The Mexican Chicken Soup is an approved canning recipe. The chili is our families recipe. Not in a cookbook but we have been canning it for years. But again, PLEASE use your own discretion. I'm just sharing what I do! Thanks for commenting and being here!
Totally agree. I can alot of my own recipes and have for years with never an issue, but I do look at the safe method recipes and I'm very close to theirs. but I agree use your own discretion but I do use the guidelines for time lengths.

Can you can noodle soup or do they get mushy?
They get mushy. I just cook them when I heat the soup! Hopefully that's helpful! Thanks for wat. ☺️
I’ve been canning for 30 years, I have never taken off the ring part of the lid. What is the reason for this practice.

What is the difference between pressure canning and water bath
Pressure canning is for foods that don't have enough acidity. Things like meats and vegetables need to be pressure canned. Water bathing is for high acidity items like tomatoes and fruits. Hopefully that was helpful!!
You can double stack pts. Same pressure time
Yes!! I love double stacking pints!! It was my first year trying it! It's a wonderful, time saving tip.
What’s headspace on that?
I did one inch on each!
Are you using an approved canning recipe or just making one up?

There is an approved canning method guideline for making your own soup recipes.

Yes there is!
Always important to be safe!
What gets me,people put their spices on,then pour the liquid over?what makes no sense.
Everyone does things so differently! We all gotta find what works for us. 🙂
It all boils inside the jar in pressure canning, stirring itself.
That's true!
