I came here for this. I bought purple and almost lost it when I saw it as #3. I am unsubscribed from RGC immediately and am taking the day off work tomorrow so I can grieve the loss of my favorite UA-camr.
Yeah I'm in the process of trying to get stock black buttons for my red one. But PowKiddy is having a rough time translating in support. But looks like $20 for a set.
I recently ordered the white TrimUI Brick for my birthday the other day, and it should be arriving in just a few days now. I’m super excited to check it out!
I got the TRIMUI Smart Pro for Christmas and upgraded it to Crossmix-OS. What a lovely little machine for £50. Plays all my PSP, PS1 and MAME games. Had a blast over the Christmas holidays
So *that's* what the hinge stickers are for! I've been applying a lot of screen protectors lately (new Christmas devices + sister's broken phone needed repair so it came off) and I always saw those but never really gave them much thought. I largely get the ones for other devices with plastic guides that make it easy but now I know I can just use the hinge ones for the times those aren't available lol. I've always loved watching your videos, they've helped so much for retro game devices but now screen protectors LOL
Tossed a screen protector and MinUI on my black Brick and been loving it. I really like how the cyan power button contrasts with the shell especially since my other handheld is the Steam Deck OLED with it's orange power button and they're kinda complementary in that way. Most played games on it so far have been Legacy of Goku II and Mega Man Legends.
A good tip for applying a screen protector is to run your shower and get the room all steamy. Let the steam settle and you effectively have a 'clean room'. I use this method because I have a cat. I have ruined many a screen protector with dust and hairs before discovering this method.
@@chilly6470 How about the amount of energy it takes to get the console to you, not to mention the factory energy, the energy used to charge the device. The possible forced labour and appalling working conditions? You're worried about running a shower for 5 minutes? Get down off your soapbox and sit down!
I was finally able to order the red today! I'm pretty jazzed after only seeing white and black on stock from all my favorite aliexpress sellers for a while
I have 2 of them. The Red one which is my most favorite, then the white one. Love the TrimUI Brick! Etsy seller has the ultimate protective case with magnetic clips.
They really nailed the look of these, I also like the red one Might get one of these when I get the funds, unless the Miyoo Flip reviews really well, in which case I’ll try to pick up one of those instead
I have the white one and I love it. I think black would show the smudges way too much. Red & purple also look nice but I don't feel like the RGB look as good with it. White just looks way cleaner than the others. Now if they ever did SNES or Transparent colorways then I would totally double dip.
I purchased a purple TrimUI Brick which has now replaced my Miyoo Mini Plus. Waiting on a replacement screen to arrive as it came in with a dead pixel in the corner but still my favorite EDC device.
I think the black one looks the best, especially with the purple LED lights and after installing transparent caps at the back. Purple looks the best out the box tho 👌🏼
Glass Screen Pro is awesome, I bought a lot of screen protectors from them. The last one was for my RG28XX, I got 3 units of glass protectors for cheap.
A tip for applying screen protectors that's worked out for me: do it in your bathroom. Turn the shower or sink on as hot as you can get it and let it steam up a bit (not enough to dampen the room and work surface, obviously). Any dust in the air will become heavier with the humidity and fall, so there shouldn't be as much floating around to land on your screen when applying the protector.
I brought my TrimUI brick before the colour versions came out. I have it in black and love it, it's a great portable handheld. I still like my Miyoo Mini+ too
I think the purple calls to me most of all, but all good in their own right. Cooling my jets on retro handhelds for now as I dig into my modded 2DS LL and PS Vita, but will likely dive back in soon :)
Haha! "I'm a bit tired of reviewing expensive devices @0:18" - Buys a second one @0:42 - then bought the other two colors @1:03. $270-$300 spent on the same device four times. Animal. Thanks for the review!
Good video again, very useful. I really like the red color. But I stop myself from buying it. I don't have enough time to game and already have many of these ambernic and miyoo devices. Thanks to this channel.. Thanks Russ
i have the trimui smart pro (the game boy style one) and i love it, it doesn't looks and feels cheap, premium materials buttons are awesome, screen is amazing and colorful. i definitely gonna buy this one, is like a low budget analogue pocket but loaded with even more features aaaand the most important : the price!!!
I went with purple and am really pleased with the choice! I knew I wanted a color device and I don't like red. Plus some nostalgia for the purple GBA and Gamecube, it just made sense.
I had to quickly choose a color on thr Aliexpress sale before the sales and coupons were over so I choose Purple. After watching this video now I'm jealous for the red lol
I struggled to get the alignment right on my Brick, and was left with a screen protector that didn't quite settle at the corners, which looked a bit of a mess. Instead of putting up with it or ordering a fresh screen protector (or three), I tried putting it inside a 3d printer filament vacuum bag, and then extracting most of the air. I then left it for about 4 hours (total guesswork). When I removed it, the corners that were an issue were massively improved (though not quite 100%). This worked for me and caused no issues. That said, if there's air trapped somewhere where it can't escape, I guess it's possible it could damage the device. So this is not a recommendation, and proceed with caution, but it worked for me, and if you have the equipment to hand and understand the potential risks, it might be worth trying. Don't do this if you can't afford to replace the device, and it's probably sensible to do it somewhere outdoors where a battery failure would not burn your house down.
I also thought the red would be the better of the colored ones. We were correct. That is a knockout. I love the darker buttons too. I think I might like it even better than the white, but they are definitely my favorite two.
Hi Russ! I and many other Brick users have encountered a problem with loud ABXY buttons that are WAY louder than the d-pad. The 'tape' fixes seem to work only for 30 minutes until the device is turned off and cools down. The problem is very infuriating and Trimui does not offer any reasonable solutions. What's also weird about it is that there are a lot of people with all buttons equally silent. How are the buttons on your new bricks? Have you encountered of these issues?
I originally ordered the Purple but got sent the black one.... I kept it.. it is what it is.. it still my everyday carry console... Been playing through the classic Nes/Snes games
I like to use two rubber bands to help line up the screen protector. Then I apply the tape to create the hinge for my application of the screen protector.
If you have glass that smudges easily like for example an older RDB10 Max 2, use rain-ex on a paper towel and let it dry to a haze after wiping the glass, then wipe it clean with a dry paper towel. This will give it a perfect smudge free texture that will last years.

I usually prefer white devices, but picked up the black Brick ... it looks so demure, elegant and also stealthy ... almost like it's not a toy, but a fancy 500 dollar gadget XD
That White one is super clean looking but that red is the best looking one I love the darker shade of the buttons I actually like the silver back on the white I would have liked if they made the back of the red the same shade as the buttons Good Video man
Love your video review. I love the red and pre- ordered it. I saw in one of your short videos that you had 2 strikes against you and was sorry to hear that. I think the rules should be published so everyone can adhere to them. I heard another UA-camr that had his channel shut down because he posted too many videos in 1 day. It was 1 review of a handheld device and he broke up the segments to make it easier for the viewer to watch the segment they were most interested in. Such a shame UA-cam doesn’t have anyone to hold them accountable but I’m sure no one wants to say anything for fear of being shut down especially if people are trying to earn a living. I also think it would be helpful for Nintendo to know that most if not all of us have so many of their licensed games in duplicate and more before we get a device loaded with games. I have 3 switches and too many physical games to tell anyone about, an Analogue Pocket and a Chromatic and purchased original Nitendo gameboy games for both devices. Hang in there, we love you as a reviewer because you do such amazing reviews with so much helpful info and your enthusiasm and love for retro gaming.
I have never seen you do the "hinge" method before. GENIUS! Also, in a previous video, you mentioned how you clean all your handheld devices once a week, but I can't remember what you said you used. Could you remind us? I have the white Steam Deck, and I need your wisdom.
I got the purple and love it! Fingerprints drive me mad and the purple Brick is decent at hiding them. In contrast, my black Pocket DMG is a fingerprint magnet 😅
The new colors look sweet in-person. My only complaints are the face buttons aren’t all properly aligned and both devices have exactly 1 different shoulder button each that is mushy and not properly actuating like the rest.
Be honest: did you catch my mistake with the screen protectors before I did? 🤔
Nope. It was like a magic trick… I will watch it again to find out how you did it.
please, I need ur opinion - TrimUI Brick or RG35XX Plus? Thanks a lot!

Nope! Haha! Love that you left it in though!

Thanks to your guide, I've setup my purple one with a Gengar boot logo, I'm having a blast everytime i turn it on !
Ooh, what image did you use? I have the purple one too and Gengar is my favorite!
Yes please the boy logo. AND where to Taken It?
These types of videos are great!
You can really feel that you have fun with these. Keep up the great work Russ.

The Megaman games not being numerical order in the thumbnail has sent me into a tailspin.
Hehe, the megaman versions are actually spoiling Russ' ranking.
@@vexorian^ this!
The order of those title screens instantly sent my annoying perfectionism trait buzzing.
This comment sent me to play Tailspin on the Turbografx-16
As soon as he said he wanted a white version early in the video, I knew the order was his ranking.
Got white Brick, with MinUI it's one of the best devices I've ever used in my life. Incredible value for that price. Had no idea this even possible!!!
White and red are my favorites - got the white one for myself and red for my husband and we love them.
Frankenstein the red and black models! Red with black buttons would look sick!
Speeding on kids zone edition
I think white and black button swapped to have two different tuxedo versions would be nice
Yeah I'm in the process of trying to get stock black buttons for my red one. But PowKiddy is having a rough time translating in support. But looks like $20 for a set.
I went with purple and love it. Red is awesome but a little bright for my taste. They all look great, just like you Russ ya handsome devil.

I picked up the red for Christmas. It jumped out and very closely matches the color of my 3ds xl. Red, purple, white, black for me.
White models, when done right, are my favorite color ways as well. Cool video Russ. Keep it up man
I went with the black one.
Such an amazing device. I also have the Retroids and Odins but this device is much easier to carry around.
