Just stumbled onto this while browsing and it rekindles a suggestion I made to teachers and the school I was in, 35 years ago when I was a student. Debate topics should be attuned to a positive connotation of pros and cons and avoid bogey focusing topics. Instead of bogey focusing “colonialization” (a very classic debate theme of yesteryears) and the suspiciously “disguised attempt”?,....why not themed the pros and cons debate on, example “accelerating growth”, “progress denominator”, “industrial modernization catalyst” and many more “real industrial and business life and going on’s” of Malaysia possible journey into Industrial Revolution namely Industrial Revolution 4.0. which I believe would really develop the mind of these students, through extensive research into the topic and study of Malaysian industries and businesses. Just sharing my input as expressed 35 years ago.
