☘️Learn to formulate your own soap recipes here:
    www.tellervo.fi/shop/p/the-so...
    ☘️Citric acid information:
When citric acid and sodium hydroxide lye (NaOH) are combined, sodium citrate is created. Sodium citrate works as a chelator in soap.
A chelator traps metal ions such as calcium and magnesium that can be found in tap water.
These metal contaminants can cause rancidity and soap scum in handmade soap.
A chelator binds to these metals so that they can’t bind to the soap molecules. This way the soap won’t react with them and the soap's lather improves + shelf life increases.
Citric acid does not lower the pH of soap. Instead it consumes some of the lye and increases the superfat. Add 6 g extra lye for every 10 g of citric acid added to a soap recipe if you want to keep the superfat % at the same level.
How much citric acid should be added to soap?
Usage rate in bar soap is 1-2% of the oil weight.
    How to use citric acid
Add citric acid to the distilled water and dissolve completely before adding the lye, or make a separate solution of citric acid and distilled water and add to the oils.

I just wanna tell you that I have been on a quest to learn how to make soap, but the journey has left me a bit intimidated.
I was/am excited to make a nice soap, but most of the recipes included lard or palm oil.
I was/am a bit frustrated because I envisioned my own ingredients., then I happened upon your video and ALL OF A SUDDEN there was a connection!!!
You are throughly concise, I love the ingredients that you use, and above all this...I feel safe in your presence and not intimidated.
Thanks for your ability to wanna teach and make the newcomers feel that they too, can slay the soap dragon😊

Don't know why everyone is concerned because of the snow. Lye kills almost everything and unless you don't collect your snow beside roads or railroads you are fine. I'm worried more because of the mittens. You dont have grip, they are thick and you lack sense of touch in them and when you drip lye over them they don't protect enough. The video is aestetic, no question. But i dont recomend this for beginners. To everyone who want to try his hands on soapmaking: please research the important safety precautions before starting

This is great. Will you please make vedio on how to get rid of Soda Ash. When we try these stuffs at home, it becomes uglier after curing. How to have a smooth consistency as yours? Please give your solution. Thanks for all your vedios.

Thank you! I think the best way to get rid of soda ash is to steam the soap🙂 it's difficult to say since i don't know the issue exactly. My soaps have a rough texture sometimes too. One thing that affects the smoothness is air bubbles. I got quite a few on these bars, you can see them better in certain lighting. To avoid air bubbles, try burbing the stick blender by tapping it and moving it around before starting to blend and also pour the soap batter against a spoon or spatula into the mold to break up air bubbles.

I admire your attire very much! You have excellent taste!👍👍👍 May I know the reason for citric acid to be mandatory in this recipe? Thank you in advance🙏🙏🙏

Citric acid neutralizes lye so if you remove the citric acid the soap will be lye heavy unless you recalculate the lye.

@@amistydimnesssoap7005 That's not what may was asking, may want's to know why the citric is being added, it is usually added when working with hard water, which makes no sense with this recipe as Snow is being used, which is essentially rain, so unless where the snow was sourced from has something like acid rain, there is no need to add citric to this recipe

@@amistydimnesssoap7005 I don't think the soap will be lye heavy if I don't use citric acid, without recounting. There is the SF to help out. The worst is having less SF, that's all. Anyway, I always go thru soap calc when I make soap, with or without citric acid.

Thank you May🤗 you should never omit the citric acid from a recipe without runnning it through a lye calculator, I have just added the note for clarity incase someone makes soap with this recipe and thinks citric acid can be left out without it having an effect on the final result🙂

I’m thinking it would be better to make your own “snow” with a snow cone machine or shaved ice since snow is full of bacteria and insects. I love your videos and soaps and I might have to try this recipe just without actual snow from the ground.
