I don't think that it's bleach fans that can't tell the difference between good and bad animation or "movie" level. I think it's anime fans in general.
nah it is mostly bleach's fans, because usually those type of fans (naruto/dbz fans) are casual anime watchers, they probably only watched 1 or 2 animes so they are satisfied as long as the drawings look pretty and colorful with some shiny effects
They should call it Visuals, not animation. Demon Slayer for example has top tier visuals, but animation isn't always top tier unless it's animated by Nozomu Abe
@@antont4974 I agree with that in Demon Slayer’s case (although I’d also add Masayuki Kunihiro to the top tier animators on the show) but in Bleach’s case I think the aesthetic is what sets off in some people’s brains that “this is movie quality”. Of course stuff like the Yamamoto fight is beautifully animated in TYBW, but people were calling TYBW movie quality beforehand and I think that was due to the aesthetic from Taguchi’s direction. I think that’s also why some people say that Hell’s Paradise is a well animated show because of the aesthetic and MAPPA’s name attached to it

@@hood4364 I disagree, the average anime viewer overall really can't tell the difference. You have people from trash taste that have watched hundreds of anime and say that it is movie quality. Bleach fans are older nowadays and usually have seen a decent amount of anime. Narutos a bit different because everyone knows it and is still a lot of peoples first anime. I'm surprised you left One piece out of those though

I think something that creates that “movie quality” look is also having skilled talent that doesn’t usually show up for a TV anime. That’s why I think something like JJK 0 doesn’t look special and why some people have said Miso’s episodes on JJK felt more like movies because it feels like most of the team on JJK 0 were on the TV anime as well. Meanwhile films like One Piece movie 6, FMA Milos, and the OG Naruto movies feel pretty special alongside their TV counterparts. The gathering of skilled staff alongside the time aspect you mentioned allows for that. Same thing with the MHA movie now based on the staff list but I’ve also had my problems with how the TV anime has been since after season 4 but regardless

Movie quality is obsolete now
I won't say it's "obsolete" 2024 is an example of it, it's just kinda lost a little bit of it's meaning and gotten groped by TV anime airing as a "Movie" with TV quality
Most people just use it as a hyperbole now just like the the term "peak", and just like any other word, it's explicit meaning is still perfectly intact. Of course, other people still think it applies in places it doesn't

Like how you’d never as a kid imagine you’d get avengers and Star Wars level movie like feel at home as tv eps each weak. Now we do and people complain. Anime films of tv shows are like just watching the show. I remember when they got a boost. Some places still boost it. Look how Pixar for all its sorta dryness lately(started picking back up thank goodness) it always makes movie quality feel movie quality. Frozen 2 visually was amazing. Can’t get that on weekly tv without big compromise. People demand more. Look at video games. People cry they’re all AAA trash. But 15 years ago we’d flip for games looking this good at lowest level. A double a studio heck one kid working for 4 years can make a game look as good as it took AAA studios back in the day years to do. Fan animations are looking great. The bar is high but the funds are low and fat cats are lining their pockets. 😢and we’re fighting amongst ourselves instead of helping the creatives we call all their work mid and trash. 😢pretentious is right more creative animation and time for them to do it and less complaints about you not getting your sakuga every tv episode but instead good character acting when needed and sakuga when appropriate

The blue lock movie is the biggest scam, 70% of the same cut from the tv, speedrunning through the same thing we seen with little to no addition (The 2nd selection becomes a 4 min music video,with exactly same animation from anime, like they could have included what happen after isagi wins), some goofy 3d closeup from anime still present, ppt goals animation (moving hair, moving shirt, static in the sky with intense shaking and loud sound effects). The effect blending is slightly better though. The only thing carrying this series is the VAs and sound effects/bgm. Oh yeah, the worst, they straight up spoil whose going to the U20 match at the end for hype.
With the talent and time being put into Chainsaw Man's Reze movie, it should be everything you said an anime movie should be. Can't wait to see your video covering the trailer in December 🙏🙏

IMO ,movie quality would qualify if the series is as consistent as a movie ( and obviously to have good animation ), i would say stuff like Mob and the first season of OPM are technically movie quality ,but they have dips like most shows do ,which movies usually dont ,i guess Space Dandy is in the conversation aswell.
What would you call anthology film like Memories (1995)? It makes modern anime movies look like slideshows in comparison when it comes to animation, so the whole "movie animation" argument is kinda silly when even 90s movies beats every anime made today in terms of animation. It was also all done in cel-drawings which is a much more tedious/time consuming process than what animators do today with digital shortcuts.. Honestly animation is very boasted nowadays, because people care so much about sakuga animation (ofcourse its important, but its not everything) rather than the story or character interaction which is very sad to see this hyper obsession over something so redundant.
@@Jekiterio I did not watch Memories but i watched jin-Roh the wolves brigade and I agree with your comment ,but we can at least respect the new good looking shows considering that in the 90's there wasnt so much saturation and people at least on average had more time to show their vision than in today's animation landscape.

bleach fans (and generally many anime fans) see pretty compositing and bright colours and confuse it for animation (actual movement) quality
I don't think it's only limited to bleach fans only most of the anime fans confuse Btw animation and art/composting they think the more good it looks the better animated it is

Why do you think there's been so many Naruto fans asking for a remake now after watching that 9 min anniversary videoclip? It's not like anything shown there was better animated than the show. Naruto fans just looked at a more saturated color palette and heavier compositing and said "give us this modern animation, the other one looks old".
As a Naruto fan I don't think it needs one.
Also as a Bleach fan, I've been appalled by some of the choices made by its production committee and the staff itself (or lackthereof) and it sucks all the more that there's nothing I can do about it and that there's always some bot accounts who won't stand for fellow fans like me pointing out what's wrong with the adaptation, simply because it hits some notes we all like, like some story changes.
At least it's not as egregiously 1:1 and limited as Blue Lock or Jojo and doesn't look as cheap as MHA or Boruto with their general sub-par backgrounds and compositing, but still... one would expect more after waiting close to a decade and it's not like it's a small IP.

I don’t quite agree with the top 20 jjk scenes take. Park’s and Fujimoto’s cuts in the movie are definitely top 20 for me in the entire series. Love the abstract videos like these btw

You talked about something that is extremely variable in movie anime productions such as the quality of the animations but not the most important thing: The direction. The director in television productions must leave the storyboards and the direction of most of the episodes to other people. Instead in a film the director can make the storyboards by himself and take care of the audio-visual composition more precisely. I ask you a question: to those who say that CSW and Bleach have a "cinematic quality" have you asked why? The greatest quality that I can associate with both series is that of actually having a compact and creative audio-visual direction that actually recalls a cinematic production. The fact that you continue to talk about Bleach ignoring the most prominent figure (Tomohisa Taguchi) and then in the video in which you explain the direction you say that the latter is the most important thing, is a contradictory attitude that I can't understand.
As a bleach fan I couldn’t help but laugh every time I see a bleach fan claiming tybw had movie level animation like do these people have eyes when was the last time u seen a movie have looped and stiff sequences. But then again it made sense cause a lot of them we’re blinded by hype myself included so they blindly praise it

The first episode was just bad to me, everything looked too shiny and the part were Chad punch some 3 hollows were just bad,, it got better with the later episodes though especially with fight scenes, still wouldn't say it yas movie quality animation though

Bleach has movie level stillframes pretty much throughout the entirety of tybw with some scenes being truly movie level. Certain parts of yhwach vs yamamoto, all of ichigo vs yhwach and parts of kenpachi vs unohana had insanly fuild motion with very detailed character models just like demon slayer. Credit where credit is due demon slayer does the same thing faster and with more flashiness but movie level quality is true for some parts
So all in cour 1 with all needing correction do ADs after the fact.

I simply cannot wait to see Look Back... my most anticipated movie along with CSM. I am a whore for anything Fujimoto related, but Look Back looks unbelievable.
As a Bleach fan I am insanely letdown by the TYBW adaptation. I hope cour 3 is much better. Pierrot really screwed over 95% of the fights in the first 2 cours and I won’t forgive them for that.
Some fans waited 10 years and we get bs. Also I feel like most Bleach fans are still under the hype and refusing to see the flaws bias and it does 0 favors.

"Absolute Cinema" gets thrown around a lot. Some fans just say these things without any weight behind them
The term movie quality has degraded over time mostly due to some animes getting especial treatment now(animators, directors, sound, etc.), even if can't be sustained over time, and more movies doing the bare minimum to pass(like some animes going into movie format for an arc), plus much more animes getting mediocre adaptations, so, when people talk about X anime getting movie quality in a general sense they are right(cause the term is now very vague), just as you say, the movification of animes and the anification of movies.
And in the case of Bleach fans, the gap between adaptations also comes into play, since the broadcast of the last episode until the release of TYBW there have been many advances in terms of the techniques used in the world of anime, in addition We must take into account the change from being a long runner anime to a seasonal one, which is part of the reasons why they consider things that are already standard in high profile animes as movie quality.

the tunnel to summer the exit of goodbyes tried to hard to be anime movie quality but failed so hard, like sure you have incredible looking background art but a bunch of shots are just still frames, the animation gets worse as the film progresses, and who can forget how it rewrote the entire story it was supposed to be adapting

Luckily I didn’t have to wait 10 years for Bleach’s return (only 4-5) I can’t imagine how much more letdown I would be, and I am insanely letdown.
Pierrot really thought that simply having Kubo work on it and having some story additions/extensions makes for a good battle shounen adaptation. Sadly 90% of the fans are eating it up and tbh I feel bad for Kubo.

Kara no Kyoukai takes place in another instance(universe) of the Nasuverse, it shares some things, like locations, characters, world rules, etc, with Tsukihime, and so Fate and Mahoyo(Mahou Tsukai no Yoru), Aozaki's Sisters plays a big part in the Nasuverse's foundation, It is common to see them mentioned, or taking part, in those stories, Mahoyo could be considered the root of the Nasuverse, which is ironic because it is an unfinished story by now.
What are you confused about regarding Tsukihime? It's just the same universe as Fate but on a different side In Fate Alaya was dominant but in Tsukihime Gaia is

Bleach is not only my favorite anime of all time, but my favorite piece of media ever created & I completely agree. It’s so disappointing that the anime industry has to be in such shambles after waiting 10 long years for my favorite series to return. I’m really optimistic about the next cour but I can only hope it has consistently above average animation with muruta being appointed as the new series director

Because most anime studios mostly do adaptations. And adaptations euro better as series most of the time since people expect accuracy. Plus movies typically take longer to make, cost more, for less content, and have to compete with other films in cinemas.

Bleach is still a huge ip. Cour 1 was definitely better animated than Cour 2. Sadly all the good talent is already busy with other anime. And studio Pierrots internal staff look like they are busy, but they did restructure. Guess we will see if that helps Cour 3. If not, then expect only a few tentpole fights to actually pull some exceptional animators. It will never get consistent animation. Breaks my heart😢

Bro acting as if only bleach fans praise its animation like hell or what? You have fcking ds fandom saying each and every time that every fcking thing in show is insane animation.
It's not about Bleach fans praising their show, it's just that the phrase "movie quality" was abused to an unbelievable degree by them. And since that is literally the topic, I felt it was necessary to bring Bleach up.

And in cour 2 ppl did point out the flaws and complained abt them. And if u mention each and every time bleach animation that or so then u ain't getting saint like replies. And same can be applied to demon slayer isn't. Tell me if s3 or s4 of ds was any sakuga fest. Still ppl loudly shouting it as best animated season of 2023 and 2024 with just pretty much few minute's or seconds scene. Thats hypocrisy.
Demon Slayer doens't have even a single bad frame. That's why it's movie quality. There was nothing average about even the most slice of life episodes of demon Slayer. The background animation and composting goes insane if the characters just normally talking. @@vaidikchauhan4382

And its not like that ds don't have movie quality animation but it is not a sakuga fest or anything even recent one piece has levels ahead of animation than ds. And its directorial restrictions put on to animator to make each frame solid and in between doesn't mean 'bad frames'. And you say that it even goes insane in animation in there normal talking stuff so take my answer it is because they break the art in chibi forms and bleach doesn't+ bleach has much more detailed art and have more morphological diff in faces and body than demon slayer as ufotable pushes their own art style and every face has similar style u don't see much variation. And abt limited animation of ds it does have its own problem like see the fight between sanemi,obanai and muichiro so many slow mo for every hits and then use smoke to cover entire stuff and put visuals. Even they have fck ups in there cgi like my gen train tentacle stuff which covered entire train,effects wasn't every time strong too like rengoku's fight+ even cgi in s3 of ds wasn't out of the world 86 and neir automata were much better in that. My point is ds is no where near to be called a movie quality animated series or sakuga fest but fandoms still shout like it is best animated series to exist cause of its compositing,cgi and art direction etc and stuff for majority of times. And my problem is this guy brings bleach each and every time it looks like he hates it so just go and say anything for just reach.

No big study, most of the fandoms that use this ''movie quality'' are usually not too far from being wrong and some of the cases they are right, but bleach's fans have no reason to call TYBW movie quality, it is sooooooooooooooooooo below that, thats why it is funny and sad and quite noticing

I mean, Bleaches movie quality animation talk was mostly present when cour 1 had its amazing stretch. It was, like, first 7 episodes that all had quite a lot of fluid animation scenes and besides that, the quality of drawings and modern compositing was quite a new thing for the old Bleach fans. I'm not saying that the old Bleach was bad but quite basic from that aspect.
I've seen multiple people say that cour 2 was better than cour 1. There are some delusional people around here 💀
@@Pextun Pretty sure they say that because C2 was more balanced in terms of highs and lows in animation, but if we talk about high animation only C1 > C2.

@@Pextun Cour 2 was all around more polished, if you watch the Bluray version, it looks great. Everything looks much more beautiful because of the removal of the dimming, bluring and ghosting that was present in the anime when it was coming out, although it wasn't too noticable. It's just that cour 2 didn't have an episode like Yama vs Yhwach, so it kind of left the feeling that it was nothing special and the battles of the whole cour relied much more on big explosive attacks, so the coreography took the backseat. I'm expecting a lot from cour 3, pretty sure it's going to surprise a lot of people.
