Crucial moment; pay attention at the oiler tube assembly around the 1:57 mark. Those little holes you see feed oil to each cam lobe once installed. They can and and will clog ruining both the cam lobe and rocker arm. Mine failed at 67k miles. Had to replace camshaft and rocker arms. The kit is cheap and easy to fix… do it now!

if you decide to replace the chain, you need s special tool for removing the chain rails, replace them at that point, they are cheap insurance) If it is the original factory chain, it won't have a master link.

FYI: timing chain isn't stretched, it's worn at each piece of the chain, giving the illusion that it is stretched. You can buy 4 and 5 degree compensators, but with the amount of wear you have, you need to replace the chain.

I’m curious did you replace the small seals on the inside of the valve covers. These often turn very hard and break. I have been unable to find replacement seals associated with part numbers 116 016 09 80 and 116 016 08 80. Great job on video. Thanks for sharing.

Do you have any videos of how you put the cooling system back together? I ran into an issue. On the water pump, there is a connection for a smaller hose that leads towards the back of the engine. The main "section" of the hose has a bend and is made out of metal, but it connects to the water pump by a 3-inch rubber hose. The problem is I can't figure out how the metal hose is supposed to sit in the engine. Any help would be appreciated.

I didn‘t get in the video how you adjust the 12 to 0 issue. i see only how you replaced the camshaft oil pipe and clean the cover but that will not fix the wrong adjustment of the chain, isn‘t it?

Hi, thanks for the videos, extremely useful and very well made. I also live in Miami and I just bought a 1985 380sl. For harder jobs do you happen to have a good mechanic that you recommend?
