    Things almost as old as me lol. I remember our ac unit from the 80s, those things were built like tanks.

    30years! Wow you did good. I had new motor put in at about 13 years. I did oil the shaft on the first motor, lasted about 2 years. I didn't notice oil fill holes, i will have to check the new motor and see if it had oil fill holes. Thanks for the video.

    👍 tip - don't power wash condenser fins, will bend them & screw up air flow. I just watched another tech channel pwrwsh an old R22 unit. Newer equipment - never, they have thin AL fins, some Rheems hv tiny whiskers that will be crunched up in pressure wash.

      That's great news! Yes, always good to have a motor on standby when they start making the noise. That heart is brutal. Thanks for letting me know how it went!

    Some times you hear squeak ,if you leave it it may stop then take compressor from over heating it. Especially if you have a new motor.

    Hi I have a a/c fan motor making sound (sometime) but I don't think it has oil hole. Can I flip the motor over and add few drop of oil to the shaft and let it drip inside? would this work without disconnect and re-assembly the motor? I don't want to mess up too much, would the oil hep by sliding down the shaft or it is too late for the fan motor. Thanks for the video.

      In my experience with the electrical motors, yes. I've done this a number of times even with small Honeywell fans that you buy at Walmart. Personally, I look at it this way, I have very little to lose. In my opinion, I think you'll have great success. Please call me back and let me know how it went. However, like I said this video, has a updated my own opinion, I would use an oil that's made for electric motors such as three and one oil for electric motors or zoom spell oil.

      @@SwimmingintheDeep Thank you so much for your information and suggestion. Based on internet and youtube, oil will help a lot on fan motor. I don't know about this until my a/c fan motor making squeaking noise. Notes: My motor is OEM and installed since 1987, 35 years +, talking about quality product which are Made in the USA. Thanks for the video. 👍

    What kind of oil use?

    • @SwimmingintheDeep
      @SwimmingintheDeep  Рік тому +1

      Mineral oil or zoom spout oil, that's my latest opinion. U can't go too wrong with 3-in-1 either. The last time I oiled mine i used mineral oil though and it seems to be working the best of all.

    Have you tried zoom spout oil yet ?

    • @SwimmingintheDeep
      @SwimmingintheDeep  Рік тому +1

      nah, but if I had it, I'd use it from what I have heard. Mineral oil seems to be doing very well for me, better than 3in1 that I originally used.

      Zoom (and this video) worked for us. $7 for Zoom at WM and 15 minutes got our 10yo FL fan motor squared away. 💨🥶❄️

    Do you have the part number for the motor you bought? I tried to oil with no luck. I replaced the capacitor 2 years ago. I'm sure that is still good. We are at 100° in Iowa today and it finally stopped working.

      Hi there, Unless your unit is very similar to mine, the motor is likely to be different. Try to match the RPMs/Amps and frame size of the motor. All of that should be on the side. An easy thing to do is to take your motor to a place that sells motors and they'll help you match it up. Look for a Grainger near you or a motor shop.

      I am not sure but a quick google says maybe. I did not find where they react against each other and some people seem to have done it with success. Proceed at your own knowledge/risk.
