Thank you, it was 84 degrees in my house as we waited for the new motor to arrive. I figured there had to be a way to get the motor to start running again, even if for just a few days. It started right up and my wife is happy! Liked and subd.
This is my exact problem. Thank you for sharing! I added the oil, but sometimes theres this long delay befor the ac starts running again when I turn it on.
My 16 year old system was trouble free until 3 weeks ago..unit was running but the condenser fan wasn't..so the condenser was overheating..I shut it down and spun the fan which moved freely, Installed a new capacitor and everything seemed good but a few long cycles and the fan would stop mid cycle..contactor replaced and all voltages in and out to comp and fan good, ended up being the fan.
I oiled mine and ordered the replacement. hopefully it last long enough till the replacement comes in the mail. It's going to be pretty hot for the next 3 days.
Its nice of you to post that update. This is still a good idea, though you can also take off the bolts holding the housing together to oil both sides directly. If the motor is making noise its probably too late though.
3-in-1 is a good idea but maybe not the best one. A silicone spray like "B'Laster" is better suited to a motor that spins that fast and will last longer (I use mine once every year or so when it starts making noise and it takes care of it right away.
That specific 3 in 1 oil (blue label) is not sold here only the black label is sold here , don't use the black label in a fan motor because it gums it up and the fan won't turn.
Thank you. My A/C is making a very similar noise and this is the video I needed. My A/C has been running strong for 40 years.

Try replacing capacitor...

Thanks! We have the similar conditions! 👍
great video. About to try the oil before ordering another motor. Thanks.

There is another bearing in the back.

I would check that the fan blades are NOT hitting the inside casing.
👍
