- Doctor Who is known for all its crazy aliens and monsters, but you'd be surprised at just how deep the Series 1 episode The End of the World's backstory is!

Fun Fact: The majority of the series' effects budget were used up for this episode, because the story required more CGI effects than any other story. A sequence in which the viewing gallery tilted on its axis had to be dropped due to the expensive budget.
Another fun fact the introduction room in end of the world was re used as the discussion room in the hunger earth/cold blood.
I love how much lore this episode has. To bring back Doctor Who and actually create a fully fleshed out lore behind the scenes that is consistent and feels real and lived in, was a stroke of genius from Russel T. Davies.
I love the RTD era and how it makes the universe feel like it has a real history and concrete timeline that the characters hop around and explore.
The Classic era did somewhat have this too, but it wasn’t really a focus. But both Classic and RTD Who despite having aesthetic differences could still feel like the same universe, just with a huge insane war that happened in between.
The end of of the world isn’t the best episode but I love the characters so much, they make the doctor who universe feel far more diverse and alien and alive. The designs feel like something out of Farscape they’re so cool
Harbo’s road to becoming WhoCulture is almost complete
BooCulture
WholmesCulture
That's disturbing.
Harbo has been lightyears ahead of WhoCulture for years + he's a Clara simp. He's the Super Rose Gold Card of doctor who UA-cam channels
Except Harbo actually does research for videos
Wendigoon now Who canon.
I love this episode so much, SO underrated
I don’t think it’s underrated. I think it’s right where it needs to be. It’s a brilliant character episode, but in terms of story it’s quite weak.
Still wonder if Moxx of Balhoon is related to Sil of Thoros-Beta. Something about the twinkle in their eyes.
Yet again, another brilliant essay please please please keep them coming. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your channel and the in-depth analysis. Your work is amazing congratulations.
Very fun video!! Had no idea there was so much lore 😵💫
They wear furs to keep their lizard bodies warm? But lizards are cold blooded... they don't generate heat to keep trapped...
They might absorb heat and then put the furs on to help their bodies retain it? This is the only theory I can think might work
Thank God RTD kept all this self-indulgent fanwank to the obscurest depths of expanded media where only the most obsessive nutters dare to tread.
(Which is not to say that it is *bad* per se, moreso that it has an audience and that audience is not the same audience as the one he needed to convince to make Doctor Who cool again back in 2005.)
Wasn’t the Silver Devastation something to do with where the Master was found as a child, naked holding a gold fob-watch?
Don't recall the watch being gold, but yeah. I commented something similar on the Face of Boe video funnily enough
@@thedoctor2099 Was it not? Was it silver?
I love Utopia but that whole Face of Boe didn’t work for me. Minor issue though, as it’s one of my all time favourites.
@@chrisknight2631 I'm fairly certain it is, but I could be mixing it up with the one the Doctor used in Human Nature. Not 100% sure if they were the same prop or not. I was still kind of young when I first saw the series 3 finale so the Face of Boe thing never really bothered me much personally.
Oh... Have you seen that Nicolas Cage face blanket? DW Merch should produce a Casandra version. Would be awesome!
Yap Cap Forward Bigga Toom Toom Toom is an absolute bop
Why does your Cassandra description have the music from the beginning of every Summoning Salt video?
4:05 I LOVE THIS WENDIGOON CLIP
Harbo and Wendigoon is a collab I need to see
Cassandra is like an Agatha Christie foe
Imagine Doctor Who w/a Lucasfilm budget. This was great, but just imagine...
I would recommend Dime Store Adventure’s short video on whether falling pianos were ever a real threat. For a video less than a minute long there is a worrying amount of primary sources.
RTD definitely knows his waffle
I love the plasticine-y, latex oddness of Doctor Who's aliens.
Man, it would be great if the Doctor Who expanded universe writers could stop fucking giving the 9th Doctor's backstory material to the War Doctor.
Why is the dude in the background scratching his balls? 13:19
Not sure if I'd call that 'in the background'
Awesome vid and lore
Wendigoon reference! :O
Unexpected, but very welcome.
wendigoon jumpscare
Guys please what is the name of the music playing in the backgroud 13:53 ? i forgot, please someone 😭
Pretty sure that many referenced book was in my school library.
*A brony edited this video. Let that sink in… 😅*
Besides, it was brilliant to edit this, Harbo! Splendid work once again on maintaining these awesome videos! 💚✨
Wendigoon reference appreciated.
I don't get what needs to sink in about it lol
…because a piano fell on him… six times
why you didnt talk about lost media like Rose dying alternate ending
BRAZIL MENTIONED
This isn't children of earth
Ok I changed my mind Cassandra is a trans queen and she slays
literally! she killed people!
Hey--nobody can prove that she slayed all of those people!
So true, love that for her
Contains a minute-long ad which can't be skipped, a minute into this video.
Sorry, for that reason I'm not going to continue watching this video.
can't they just leave a character alone? why they have to make Cassandra Trans? is it for inclusion? was any trans person so desperate for representation in Dr Who that they wanted to be associated with a bitchy trampoline murderer?
