To be clear, RJ250 Compound doesn't just give a flat 6 extra ammo, it increases your max ammo by 70%. This is an important distinction because it means, by taking the ammo mods in tier 1 and/or 2, the overclock will actually give you 7 (for taking one mod) or 8 (for taking both) additional shots. This may SEEM like a bad idea since that means not taking damage mods to make up for the base damage lost by using RJ250. However, if you take Incendiary Compound in tier 3, the base damage doesn't really matter since the fire DoT will still be plenty to wipe out swarms of grunts which, aside from stunning and rocket jumping, is what you'll be using the grenade launcher for 99% of the time anyway (unless you build it for single target with Hyper Propellant or something). Taking the fire mod also kind of makes RJ250 objectively better than Compact Rounds and Pack Rat since it gives more ammo while still being able to kill everything it's meant to just as easily without reducing the blast radius while ALSO giving the Engi a unique mobility tool.
7:55 I would not recoment using incindiary compaund with hyper propelant because its halves all the damage for a lil bit of fire, better to take pressure wave that would help punching trough pretorian armor
Not quite! Hyperpropellent is kinda bugged with incindiary compounds, keeping the 50% heat bonus without actually reducing the weapon's damage. Stealing a specific description from one of the wikis. "This overclock is currently bugged when combined with Incendiary Compound. It adds 100% of the PGL's listed explosive area and direct damage as Disintegrate Damage and then removes 100% of the Explosive Damage from both the area and direct damage. This all happens after Incendiary Compound converts 50% of the explosive damage into Heat, and as a result the downside of Incendiary Compound is completely subverted to allow the PGL to deal massive direct and area damage along with an additional 50% of that damage as Heat."
How have all of you gotten it wrong 💀heres how it ACTUALLY WORKS. Incendiary compound halves your EXPLOSIVE damage for fire. Hyper propellant, does 400 DIRECT damage, meaning taking incendiary compound is actually very good, as it only takes a SMALL PORTION of your damage in trade for fire. the bug used to be that if you took hyper prop, incendiary would take away any damage at all, now it properly reduces your explosive damage. Please factcheck what you say before you spread it around 🙏
My personal build for the PGL is RJ250 with 1a 2a 3a 4b/c 5c. (normally go 4c) With RJ250 I don't feel like the damage mods are as impactful as radius or ammo. With the incendiary compound you still kill standard grunts with one shot, I feel it's better to focus the build on catching as many bugs on fire as possible. It still softens the slashers and guards enough to clean up easily.
i really only started to enjoy the pgl when i got rj250 compound for it. seriously one of the most enjoyable overclocks along side special powder for me. i still dont have hyper propellant, sadly. i see myself using that a lot when i finally get my hands on it.
Hyperprop is my goto on engie. It essentially serves as a delete button for anything smaller than an opressor. Youll be going through your mission, hear a menace pop up somewhere, and the moment it shows itself you just point this thing at it. No more menace. Not to mention it takes absolute chunks out of a dread's health bar.
Hyper Propellant was the very first overclock I ever got. It was true love from that day forward. Just set up your shotgun to be able to turret whip your sentries as well. Double the railgun power baby.
I think you should say your main build with each weapon, it would be cool for people who want to test new builds or see if there is a way to improve their main one but other than that informative and amazing video
I have Hyper propellant for the grenade launcher and it’s very devastating to bosses, would recommend it for missions for dreadnoughts and caretakers, plus it’s a good way to take out detonators, one shotted a Crassus one time
Glad you didn't brush over Clean Sweep and Compact Rounds although RJ250 beats it for giving extra ammo, but they can arguably be a better choice if you want more ammo and damage for your PGL Also I'd love to see you tackle the Subata cause it does have some pretty fun Overclocks
I have over 3K hours in DRG and the PGL is my fav engie secondary. That being said, the nukes are the worst OC in DRG if you ask me. The low ammo count and radiation are most obvious but the overall effectiveness of it is so easily outplayed by almost all other builds.
RJ250 - 21122 or 11132 FAT BOY - 21332 or 21312 Clean Sweap - 11122 Hyper Propellant - 21232 or only on Industrial Sabotage 21132 instant kill robot Pack Rat and Compact Round is trash. Stubby is best choise for PGL. Warthog + MPA(Magnetic Pellet Alignment) also good.
The one at the start looks to be from the Megacorp dlc pack, the one at the end is from the Rival Tech dlc pack. The paintjob at the end at least might be from the supporter upgrade. He's using a few different skins throughout the video tho, couldnt tell you the exact one without a timestamp.

The deepcore is fine. It does great damage and effects but it has such low ammo, and it has to compete with engi's weapons. It's on,y use is long range crowd control which isn't that useful. Just like the warthog there isn't really a time where it's worth taking. Hyper propelent is out DPS by the shard disfractor, and the breach cutter can get the same damage output per shot. Fat boy is one of the worst overclocks in the game. It's damage and area is nice buy the radiation makes a big portion of the map unusable unless you want to lose half your health. Also on glacial strata for some reason when the radiation reflects on the ice it is so bright that even with gaming glasses on it hurt to look at, I'm not exaggerating. RJ250 Compund is special powder for the least mobile class in the game. Also with engi moving around a lot is nerf, engi is designed to hold an area make this OC pointless.
Engineer my beloved,, there's no weapon in his arsenal that makes me groan when using it. Every single one of his tools is such a fun experience

With RJ250 I don't feel like the damage mods are as impactful as radius or ammo. Also, the rj250 effect is applied to all dwarves within the radius. So a bigger radius just means more speed. What's not to love about more speed?
