I've got a 2010 Honda Pilot Touring 4WD with over 180K. We bought it with 75K and have never had a mechanical problem with it. It shifts just as smooth as the day we bought it. As a family of 6 it has been an excellent vehicle. We love it and will replace it with another Pilot. I especially like this (the 2nd gen)-I like boxy over the more minivan look of the third gen.

I have done basic repairs myself but lifting the car and supporting it is a big fear of mine and im sure there are many people out there avoiding diy repairs because of this. if anyone reads this and agrees like the comment so he might see this!

Your owners manual will show jack points. You can test a spot with your jack if you're unsure! Put it on a spot and jack slowly, if there is any sign of the car bending, stop. It should be a rock solid point. Underneath subframes you'll see very large bolts usually with large steel beams, it's safe to jack from those. Underneath tow hooks as well on cars with steel built in tow hooks

It has been fairly reliable, but I have had a couple parts go bad, I listed them below:
    Alternator - replaced at 85K
    Radiator - replaced at 97K
Oil Control Valve - replaced at 120K
Other than I have followed the factory maintenance schedule and I am on my 3rd set of tires and will finally be replacing the rotors later this year. It is my daily driver and I am hoping to make last as long as I can.

Look into a VCM Muzzler. This will almost 100% fix your oil consumption problem. These cars have variable cylinder management systems which shuts off a bank while running on the highway. This leads to increased engine wear and oil consumption. Most thing I have read online say that once you disable that system it will stop consuming oil. 👍

VCM has been causing so many problems with my Pilot. When I change my spark plugs, the 3 on the rear bank cylinders 1, 2 & 3 I believe, will be all gunked up. At about 175k I noticed that the engine started burning a ton of oil. I bought a device that disables the VCM by bypassing the temperature sensor coming off the radiator. Stopped throwing codes, burning oil, and I haven’t really noticed much of a gas mileage difference either. I’m about to hit 225k here pretty soon. I hope on later models Honda makes it easier to disable the VCM

I have a 2005 Honda Pilot that has 168,000 miles and drive it everyday for personal use/work.
Only bad thing is that you can feel the shifting a little bit and that the power steering pumps are weak over time.
    Besides that..I love my Pilot

To all those who own or intend to own a 2016-2022 Pilot PLEASE service your transmission!!!
I work as a service writer at a Honda dealership and I’m currently on my 3rd customer who’s paying out of pocket for a transmission replacement on their 2018 Pilot 102k miles because the fluid hadn’t been changed till 80k. These new Pilot transmissions are very high maintenance and the oil pump inside the trans WILL go out between 80-120k miles if the fluid is not changed every few oil changes or every 20-30k miles!! My shop foreman actually changes the trans fluid in his wife’s 2016 Pilot every other oil change. If your trans doesn’t go out, your torque converter will which just so happens to be cheaper than a new trans but still almost $3k repair.

We bought a used 4WD Pilot over a used MDX because the Pilot felt better on the road (2 different Pilots and 2 different MDXs). Sure the Acura SH-AWD is programmed better than the Honda VTM-4, but it helps keep the car straight when hydroplaning on the interstate.

We bought an 03 Pilot when they came out in June 02.
It did have sensor recall just after we got it. Put 2 sets of tires on it, 4 batteries, one st of brakes, and did do a timing belt service, at 55,000.miles, and an oil change once a year.
The wife wanted something a little smaller, so last year she bought a real sweet 2016 CRv.
Anyhow, the Pilot went to her daughter 15 months ago, at 73,000 miles. Dealer offers $1000.00. Screw the dealer. Still running fine, no problems.
The older Pilots are bigger than the newer ones, same with the CRVs.

I have a 2004 and it breaks down every couple months. This time it's rotors brakes and calipers at the same time. It's super firstly and wasn't taken care of before I got it. But, I love my pilot. It gets me where I need to go. It also has 230k

I had a pilot from 20k miles to 130k miles. In that time I only did the normal maintenence (oil, oilfilter, and belts at 100k) other then I had to change one of the wheel bearing and brakes. I also did a decent amount of towing
