Most musicians do not care about their fans like this and they could all use a lesson from Failure. You’re a complete legend. Honesty, integrity and transparency. Don’t worry for a minute about these trivial things. A few months is nothing. We waited over a decade for Failure to return and it’s been brilliant since you have. Concentrate on keeping safe and healthy so we can enjoy the band and your new music for many years to come.

Wow, now THAT was a great surprise! Thank you, Failure and team! I'm one of those 1996 people and this song remains in my personal top ten favorite songs of all time. I unexpectedly burst into tears when I heard it live for the first time at Maynard's "Cinquanta" - I never imagined I would hear it live - an absolute dream come true. Music heals us. Be well, friends.
Maybe while you're in lock down you can write some new Failure songs... hint hint, nudge nudge.

Ken, it's relieving to hear that you guys and your families, crew, etc. are doing okay. I hope everyone takes what you said about following shelter in place orders seriously. My wife and I are social workers (her in the ER, myself with the homeless) and it's hard to find words to describe some of the things we've seen... stay home, friends.
Anyway, the plans any of us have made have been swept away by events. You guys made us far more than whole after the Pledgemusic fiasco even though it should have been pledge's job to make us whole. I am happy to wait for my boxed set knowing that the three of you have assembled the most quality package that could have been made.
Of course I hope that I get to see you guys in Chicago this July, but if not, I know this: we are all going to be able to attend birthdays again, hug our friends, go on dates, see a film in the theater again. See our favorite band play their early albums live. We'll get through this.
Sorry for the lengthy comment. I just wanted to say thanks. Since you guys started the band again I've gotten a great deal of joy out of listening to the new records, going to the shows, and watching your channel here. I just wanted to say thanks.
If there were a question I could ask, it would be: the three-night stands aren't like a last hurrah type of thing, right? You guys aren't planning a big hiatus afterward, are you? I mean, you guys don't owe anyone anything. Far from it, as these years since Failure came back have been so unexpected and amazing. I just... haha, I guess I'm making the rookie mistake of hoping everything lasts forever. :D

I can understand the urge to kind of put paid to past work. Every time I read an interview from the last couple of years asking, "So, what prompted you to reform the band," I kind of roll my eyes and think, "The poor dudes probably have started hearing that question in their sleep." Don't get me wrong, I love the 90s stuff as much as anybody. But, this growing body of work you guys are on today... especially "In the Future..." Damn, what an incredible achievement.

Of all of the social plans that I have put on hold, the only one that I am really concerned about is the Chicago Magnified show. I am yelling at random strangers that are not following distancing rules, "You better not fuck up my Failure meet and greet!" Desperate times call for desperate measures. Just listened to 2020 Comfort.. wow. I've been very much looking forward to hearing this and to summarise the new mix in one word.. 'tasty' 😄
In more words: I'm hearing richer guitars, fuller low end, some cool effects on the (more present) vocals and lead guitar - either newly applied or just more noticable, giving it a subtle Failure 2014+ sheen. I'm only an amateur in the mixing world but personally I think it's managed to tick every box of what I would have wanted from a remaster! Looking forward to listening to Magnified & FP but I've probably kept the neighbours awake long enough for one night..

Hey Ken, I have always wondered why did the music video skip the first verse?
Because in 1996 everything was about radio edits of singles. WB insisted we have a sub 3:30 version of the song for radio which would also be used for MTV. We tried several different edits and in the end this one just felt the most natural, even though it completely leaves out verse one as you noticed!

Is there anyway you could make a "download only" option available for the remastered albums? I don't collect vinyl and it's out of my price range to purchase the box set. I can't imagine I'm the only Failure fan who would happily purchase a download directly from the band. Thanks, Ken!
Same! I no longer collect vinyl and rarely listen to it (though I love the size/scale/presentation), so a “download only” option would be ideal!
YUSSSSS... THANK YOU for doing the re-release of the video! I teach AVL and when we do music video critiques it's pretty much impossible to find any quality video from that era. Did you do all of the editing yourself? How? I would love to see a behind the scenes :)
Yes, been thinking about doing a BTS of the SOY video. I did edit all the takes together, but we hired a pro VFX team to do all the scaling, animation, and coloring. I currently use Davinci Resolve for everything video, but I think the VFX house we used (loudFX.net) uses the adobe platform.

I wasn't able to preorder the new box set, but I'll do it soon, as this crisis wanes off.
Stuck On You was my first Failure love and it remains my #1 Failure fav to this day. Amazing remastered video! Always reminded me of the Roger Moore/Bond films I grew up with. Just makes it that much more enjoyable to watch over and over. Fantastic Planet is epic (nothing news to failure fans) and all the other albums and side projects from YOTR to ON and all in between are timeless.
Please allow me to throw out a question to the fans or even to Ken.
Is there any way to re-acquire the bandcamp versions of Come Crashing and The Focus? I don't mind supporting the band and paying again.
I can only play them through the bandcamp app on my iPad 4, heh. Possibly have 'em on a dead PC too.
I may even prefer the album versions, but these bandcamp versions are unique and make me feel a little nostalgic, remembering when I found out Failure was back.
EDIT: I guess they could be called the "91x" versions. Its up to the band. :)

While waiting for the vinyl set I've been listening continuously to the Remastered Flac files of Comfort , Magnified , Fantastic Planet and comparing them to the original Released CDs and all I can say is WOW.
I've bought lot's of Album's that were quite a disappointment but not these .
These Sound as Fresh as if they were released today rather than 20 plus year's ago.
And some times when people bring up Comfort or Magnified they are almost considered lesser when compared to Fantastic Planet but I would say bite your tongue .
Everything I love about fantastic Planet is a bit more Raw and intense on the first two album's .
To Failure I have to say great job and the only release I still need is the Live Fantastic Planet Album that is a fantastic live album .
When the vinyl arrives I'll be more than happy if it's nearly as good as the digital release....

But the remastered vinyl is the best money I've spent .
But if you can't get the Vinyl buy the remastered Digital files .
The new Digital releases are so good that even though I have the original CDs they are rarely played .....
I suggest the $50 they sell for is money well spent .
One of the best band's ever now offered remastered to perfection...
If they ever rerelease their Fantastic Planet Live album then my Failure collection will be complete .

Hey Ken, I just listened to Local H’s new album ‘Lifers’ and was initially disappointed that they did not use the version of ‘Innocents’ that you had worked on for the music video. Then I grew to appreciate both versions/mixes for their different takes on the same material. Could you speak on the differences of working on someone else’s material versus your own and if your ego ever gets in the way?
Any update on progress ?
And anything new to availability of the live Fantastic Planet digital files that I downloaded from the evil company that were terrible and corrupted.....
I still think the live Fantastic Planet is absolutely one of the best live offering I've ever heard and an actual lossless version would be something I would be willing to buy if offered because my mp3 version is unplayable.

Hey I don't know if you'll read this. But I just wanted to say that I've been subscribed to you for a little while now before I even knew who failure were.. Watched a few of your videos half heartedly. but listened to failures music a LOT over the last 4 days. I'm loving it. Theres a real 90's vibe about it that I miss dearly in music in general. I really appreciate the sound this band has, and being primarily a guitar player. I've picked up my bass again for a while and am trying to replicate your tone because it's gripping.
Also the segue songs are great, they hold my attention the most.
Don't ever stop, this is inspirational stuff.

What an awesome concept for a music video. And being a big 007 fan this was right up my alley. I wish they would have done the one flew over the cuckoos nest concept with the nurse who loved me. They mentioned it when they did love line way back in the day. Said Margret Cho was gonna play the nurse ratchet part. Brilliant!!!

The box set delay, which is thoroughly out of everyone's control and completely reasonable, is an absolute non-issue when one considers the fact that you guys have somehow managed to even make this box set, which is nothing short of a minor miracle given the likely herculean legal, financial and technical hurdles required to wrestle control of the original recordings out of the hands of the record label conglomerates and convert it into a mouthwatering remastered box set dream. I was first infected (sorry) by Failure in the mid-90's by Comfort (through allegiance to Steve Albini productions) and especially Magnified, and then of course FP, so I never dreamt something like this was even possible, and thus am most thankful that it will actually come to fruition.
If that's not enough, the fact that you guys made the decision a few years ago to reform as a band, fully intact, not simply as a nostalgia act regurgitating the oldies (but goodies), but instead as a living, breathing, evolving entity, creating new material at least as relevant as anything in your past, is another miracle of sorts. I heart the last two records as much as anything you did in the 90's.
And one more thing (as Columbo would say)... have you and Greg (and fellow collaborators from Tool) ever considered reissuing the Replicants album onto vinyl? It is easily one of the best kept secret treasures of the 90's or any era, and unquestionably deserves another look and greater recognition in a complete remastered analog vinyl, digital package with liner notes, etc.
Anyway, stay healthy, safe and keep on keepin' on. Can't wait to see Failure perform at Thalia Hall whenever that goes down.

Was listening to Magnified while working out and saw the email notification pop up with this link. Super cool that you guys are keeping us updated, I eagerly await the set and hope I can see you guys on tour...sometime soon? I didn't start listening to you all until later in my life, but when I found Failure I was going through some hard times and I had a soundtrack to help me through them. You guys are awesome!
It's funny that you brought up the Stuck on You video, I think that's how I first heard Failure on a Fuse show (probably some time in 2006ish) and that led me to all the other albums. Really cool to see it in an HD format. Stay safe and healthy in these uncertain times!

Hey Ken! Amazing update and, as they say, great things come for those who wait... (please, please, please let those shows happen!). Ok, here's the quick question... so I bought the box set as part of a bundle with the pre-order tickets on SoundRink's site. But I don't think I've received an email from you guys or from SoundRink. How do I snag those remastered downloads?
I just asked SoundRink and here is their response: "As for the LPs included as an add on to purchases made through Sound rink, those didn't include a digital download. That was just for the vinyl box set to be shipped to you." I would have purchased through HelloMerch for sure if I realized that difference... disappointed to say the least!

Yes yes yes !!! Absolutely worth it!! I’m considered a “ feeble minded genius “ when it comes to all things musical. But the vibrant colors and the animated actions of all the silhouettes against the silky red sky or soothing ethereal oceanic fog is as clear as day. The transfer was worth the work Ken. For a Failure fan that has been adamantly loyal to your band since I first seen this video. No more vhs like grainy smear of a video. Definitely defined the vast story of falling in love in this song and video. I had a copy of fantastic planet in my hands just 90 minutes of seeing this video and have seen every show here. And may I send much love from your Phoenix fan base. You guys have always been darlings to us when you played here. And it tickled me raw to see Chino play this song as his number one video on the very last episode of 120 minutes on mtv. Peace and for gods sake wash your fucking hands and stay the fuck home. Lo!!

Awesome to be getting the digital albums this Tuesday, and that little surprised (which turned out to be a rather BIG surprise) put a huge smile on my face. I don't know, just seeing anything restored and raised to a higher level is always inspiring. So happy this video has a second chance to shine.
EDIT: Speaking of the music video, I just noticed the opening gun barrel sequence is missing the raised hands and blood coming down which were in the original. Damaged negative?
Plus I have to admit seeing those beautiful LP covers with slow seductive camera pans got me a little giddy, haha!
