Torque spec : tighten it till it breaks. One less than that. : ) Getting ready to do a 400 hour service on our 3038e, so your video will be a great help.
Unfortunately I got some bad diesel in my 3038, tried dumping the fuel out of the water separator and emptied the fuel tank. Put new diesel back n the tank and got the water separator filled up with good fuel. But that didn’t help getting it started. Guess I need to clean out the fuel filter too? Least I hope that gets it running again? Figured I try adding good fuel to the fuel filter before installing it so there’s new fuel in it and hopefully it will get it started?
I bought a used 3038e with 60 hours on it. No oil change or maintenance yet. I have put 10 hours on it. Should I do a full maintenance like you are doing here?
It took me a while to find it. When I purchased a filter set I had this one left over. I knew I had changed the fuel filter so I was thinking, what is this for. I had to ask the dealer. So this basically has two fuel filters.
no le puedes meter subtitulos en Español, tengo el mismo tractor y voy a tener que hacer todo tipo de mantenimiento, los talleres son caros, y si puedo hacer yo alguna cosa mejor...y cada cuanto le haces todo eso, gracias.
@@thistlehillfarmstead9131 The fuel shutoff valve is the grey lever on the upper portion of the fuel/water separator, you can see it well at 22:14. It would have prevented a great deal of the spillage. Also, why wouldn't you drain the fuel water seperator during this service? To prime, all you have to do is turn the key to run and the fuel pump will self prime.
Thanks for posting! Gave me the confidence to do the maintenance on my 3038.
Pull the rubber strap across the air filter gousing and the whole unit will rise up and move around for you for easy changing

haha, I grew up around a bunch of old farmers who use that exact torque spec. "bout that tight" or "two or three grunts"
Much easier on the air filter if you take the rubber housing strap off. Rotated right up. No tools required.
Thanks. How about a video of changing out a dead battery on a 3038e with a bucket?
Puppy pads!! Great work Tim!
The puppy pads are the best !
Do you happen to have a video on all of the grease points? I inherited a 3038e from my father in laws passing and i wanna keep it in good shape
Appreciate the video. Cheers, sir.
Thanks
Thanks for posting
No problem!

Good luck. I have been luck and never gotten bad fuel.

Bizarre, i do not have that fuel filter under the middle of my 3038E? I assume they changed it from one year to another.

I’d like to suggest safety goggles especially when working underneath. You never know what might splash at you.
You are right, I usually do wear them, but must have had a brain fart. Thanks for the feedback.
😂
Do you do this maintenance annually ?
Funnel look a bit dirty but nice tutorial video!
Thanks for watching. I normally wipe the inside of the funnel out before I user it.
👍

How many hours do you run after every change?
I change the engine oil each year so that is probably around 100-200 hrs. They Hydraulic call for every 400 hr in the manual
Any way to not take a bath in diesel when changing the filters?
Maybe, With my luck there is a shutoff somewhere is don't know about.
