Yes Sweetwater are super fast. One day out of the blue I decide to buy a guitar and it literally showed up the next day. Lol. They will also call you out of the blue months later just to see how you are doing😂
Nice kit for sure. And just for clarification.....you bought the standard 5 piece kit and added the additional 14" floor tom. As for Sweetwater NOT opening factory sealed boxes, you are incorrect. They will open boxes to add their candy and paperwork, but they will not sell demo stuff as brand new. They are honest that way. As for DW packaging methods....nothing extra special here except for maybe the thicker cardboard used from product made in Taiwan. One thing I wish EVERY drum company would do is add extra protection at the bottom of the big box to protect those bearing edges better. When you ship unassembled drums with their critical bearing edges resting on nothing but cardboard, it makes sense to me to put extra padding down there to minimize the potential for damage during multiple shipping trips. My Design Series (bought from Sweetwater) had been sitting in a warehouse for a while, so the bottom was a bit thin and worn. No surprise to find damage to the bearing edges on the bass drum and 16" floor tom. Enjoy the kit!
John Goode has a DW factory there. Same woods from the USA, same equipment and handmade process, but cheaper labor costs. John Goode talks about it in one of their UA-cam DW videos. I have a Collectors Series, Performance Series, and Design Series. Very tough to tell the difference in sound….although for the additional couple thousand I dropped on the Collector’s Series I am partial to the rare wood John Goode’s crew used.
I have the Design kit and really love it. Nice kit for the money for sure

What finish is that again?
How come the Snare Drum is made in Taiwan
