18:45 I was live on twitch basically all day before I sat in the booth (with legend Jonah Zwillinger) - the folks that want to follow along during the day can find me m.twitch.tv/bdantowitz
Also, I was kind of lumped in with Nora/Gasaway/Mike but am not employed by Spikeball / STS, I just cover/stream stuff independently (and appreciate the support I’ve gotten from the community on it thus far).
i also agree, reverse cuts move more than cuts and therefore can hit farther from center. hands contact the ball top to bottom longer for reverses and this allows for more spin to be created. also a more natural movement for the hand/wrist
When I Get There - Big Wild Honestly spikeball just needs to tack on an extra $5 to pro net purchases and make a disclaimer that it will fund the sport and pro player travels. It's called a "pro" set for a reason and most people buying them will want to see the sport grow and won't mind spending the extra $$ to make that happen.
Doubling prize money in 7 years is GENEROUS. 2020 Tour stops were planned to have $0 of prize money before tournaments were cancelled.... Prior to that it was $200, $100, free reg for podium for yearsssss. Spikeball raised prizes because there's competition from other tour series now imo, not because there's more money to be made at tournaments by Spikeball.
If y'all need ideas for content, I'd vote for a thorough vid of slomo cut/reverse cut serves, like maybe with tons of different camera angles and stuff. I think seeing how it's supposed to be done is really helpful in trying to learn it.
I would love to rent like a legit slow motion camera and film Roundnet/serves in like 1000+ fps in 4k. Just wouldn’t be cheap to rent a camera like that…
What are your thoughts on like a shot clock aspect of the game to increase the pace a little? Because honestly for me one of the things that makes it so hard to watch is how much time is between each rally. By the time a play is over and the players get set and do all their serve dancing and fault on the first one, I'm already distracted. Could also add another element of fitness to the game
Are y’all coming out to SF tour stop? May 21?! Also hear me out I think new step for Spikeball that would be insane is a California league like Basketball and have like East, West, and etc.. and a big tournament at the end of the season have conference final and stats, most defensive touches, ace per serve etcc... favorite song miss me when your gone will linley. preston is totally right cut server from center, there's no way a reverse cut moves as much from center point.
where u been bro

also the spin is a different angle and thus more torque can be created between net and ball

take dota for example. the international has over 30 million prizepool because people like hats and supporting pro players
Twinz dropped their first game in Quarters to Camille Anderson (Idaho Roundnet) and Eleni (I think she was from Greece?). It was 21-15.

Honestly think some of the old announcers (not to name any names) are very very boring to listen to and provide no energy/ excitement into the stream
