    That's a great piece of equipment and looks well made. I'm sure the smaller ones will sell great. Thanks for showing it. Great review Kamon. If anyone can put something to the test, you can!

    I've been sharing his stuff here on our local bee club facebook. It's great that some new equipment builders get their stuff out and tested. Taking pride in what you do is priceless. Maybe some day this old man will have enough hives so I can get one.

    I like it. You can’t heat complete stainless through out the build. Frames and spacing , I have similar thing with an extractor I bought in Europe this spring. Not as strong as yours but biggest issue was frame supports if you only half fill it and space those Frames around there is nit much to stop the frames moving either way.
    I think every machine will have minor faults but it’s great for a start that this company are completely open to constructive criticism.
    Good video. Looking forward to seeing the machine myself in January. 🙌🐝

    Kamon, congratulations on 50k!!! I wish I knew how many subs you had when I subscribed. It couldn’t have been but a few “K”. The extractor is way bigger than I will ever need. I’m looking forward to seeing their smaller version.

      Yes I think the small model is going to be very popular! It is nice to have another option!

    The top heat sink on the motor, helping keep it cool. Great. Love the resistance self braking feature too. USA made!
    Was it just me or was the basket slightly out of true? Thank you for the review.

      Hey Mike! I think perhaps the video may have given that appearance but I have never in 20 years seen a reel this evenly balanced. The extractor was rocking in the video since it wasn't mounted on boards or bolted to the ground. Thanks for the comment!

    Great review. All your videos are "must see" videos. I'm coming to HL and hope to have enough "honey money" to buy a radial extractor. I'm a small hobby beekeeper with about 15 horizontal hive colonies. This means all of my honey is in deep frames. I found that spinning full deep frames full of honey is very hard on the frames, causing the foundation to bow and even come loose on a few frames. The problem I see is finding a "small" radial extractor that holds deep frames. I'm sure there will be something at the show.

      Thanks very much Rick! I hope to have 8 brands of extractors and 200k worth of em! See you there!

    Great to see you testing American made equipment!
    If you would like to do another review I would suggest trying Hillco LLC , recently bought a 18/9 radial extractor from John he has larger units but the ultra max 18/9 will serve our small company for the next 5 years . It to is American made and has a 4/10 warranty with replacement parts available, they design their products and it is a beautiful machine and competitively priced , all heavy duty as well .
    We can’t wait to try it with our upcoming Brazilian Pepperberry harvest ( early to mid October)
    Thanks for all your great videos we learn a lot !

      @kamonreynolds  Рік тому

      Hi Terry, Thanks for the comment! I wish we had some pepper up here! Hope your flow is great! HillCo's extractors are nearly 100% made in China. They mount and attach some things here in the US after they are delivered but that is about it. John does stand behind his products which makes them more appealing than most foreign brands!

    • @Blackswan19874
      @Blackswan19874 Рік тому +1

      Thanks Kamon , I believe John states that they do design them here and that some pieces are from China , needless to say they are designed very well and their bottom is slanted to the outlet so that there is no standing residue honey. Legs are also heavy duty as well as the stainless steel drum . I’ll let you know how we do with it towards the end of October.
      Again thanks for both your great videos and open chats , all good stuff !

    Nice review. Much better than the poorly-designed Chinese radial extractors that have individual baskets for each frame, that does not allow loading of larger numbers of shallow or medium-depth frames. I can't get over how poorly the Chinese design some of the products they sell

    • @kamonreynolds
      @kamonreynolds  Рік тому +1

      Their new models are even better. If I didn't have a Cowen line I would have a custom set of Thorne radials for sure. My Thorne wax melters are perfect for a small guy like me.
      Chinese stuff has no place in my Honey House

  • @SummitForWellness
    @SummitForWellness Рік тому +1

    I've only got small extractors (3-6 frame) and the one issue I run into is the location of the honey gate on the side. It makes it a pain to drain all the honey out, whereas a gate located lower or underneath would make it easier to drain the honey. Does the gate on this extractor get all the honey out, or does it leave some leftover that you have to fight with to get out?

    • @kamonreynolds
      @kamonreynolds  Рік тому +1

      It does have to be tilted some to drain all of the honey but it drains much better than the maxant or dadant extractors.

    • @deniswagner9458
      @deniswagner9458 Рік тому +1

      buy a new gate and measure the diameter then buy a hole saw and drill a hole in the bottom. Insert new gate

  • @Mp5sting
    @Mp5sting Рік тому +1

    Great video Kamon! What's the run time for the 36 frames compared to a 20 frame Maxant extractor?

    • @kamonreynolds
      @kamonreynolds  Рік тому

      We weren't able to compare since the maxant was bolted down. The maxant could be ran faster due to this reason. However it seemed like the Thorne spun out just as fast and we had to keep it slower due to being bolted. We definitely slung more honey out of it, but it does hold 16 more frames per load!

    Is that a 3 phase motor? It's one of the advantages of Hillco.

    • @jed2927
      @jed2927 Рік тому +1

      No, it uses a high torque DC servo motor

    • @kamonreynolds
      @kamonreynolds  Рік тому

      No it is not but my Dadant 20 didn't have a 3 phase and I sold it after 13 years of hard use and the guy I sold it too has used it for a couple years now. However, that was an American motor.
