Idc what anyone says, no one was more perfect for the role of Anakin. Like the lady said in the beginning. He has an intensity in his eyes, you can see the darkness in him but also a serenity within him. Perfect actor for Anakin.
+Obi-Wan Cannoli I would consider that as a fact instead of an opinion as most would argue. I've only seen less than 4 or 5 actors who could actually nail that and make it believable.
I love Anakin! Hayden is actually a great actor in my opinion and the prequels are best. Attack of the Clones is my favorite movie and I've seen The Force Awakens!
I really think that Hayden Christensen was perfect for the role of Anakin. I couldn't imagine someone else playing him. Just the way he could express all the feelings of Anakin through his eyes ! I mean it's true that sometimes the dialogue between Padme and Anakin was a bit awkard but that's not Hayden's fault and if you think about it, Anakin never really had contact with many girls and didn't really know how to flirt and stuff. I really like their love story even though there are awkard dialogues sometimes between them. And I think Hayden and Natalie did a perfect job playing their roles!
@@Anthonycoup If you can't spell Anakin then I don't even think you understand Anakin's character. In my opinion Hayden was perfect in playing a socially awkward young jedi trying to flirt with an older woman.
I couldn't imagine someone else playing Anakin at that time. Everyone's saying that he's a really bad actor but you know what? Look a bit deeper in his acting. He did his best and you know it. He did such a brilliant job and honestly I love that when you look in his eyes, in the movie it really takes your breath away because you're going to think "Oh yes. This is Anakin. He feels pain. He's angry" you can see emotion and passion in his acting. Although you may think that I'm just writing this to defend him, I wanna tell you that George Lucas wouldn't have chosen him as Anakin if he was so bad. People just don't want to look deeper in his acts which is quite sad because he was so young back then and imagine someone telling you at the age of 19/20 that you're the worst actor when in reality, you're trying to give your best and try to feel that role and character. And that's what he did. I don't think that someone else could've play Anakin as good as Hayden did. Much respect for this man! :)
EdithWaba Paul Walker????? He auditioned for it but didn't get it and yeah Hayden did a excellent job but i think Paul Walker could of done a pretty good Anakin plus him and Hayden has resemblance too
I believe you are wrong Robert. Its not an easy character to play. No star wars character is easy to play except for R2 because he has no line lol. Hayden did his best. IF people would have a heart and soul..they'd see that! And I have much respect to Paul Walker but since Hayden has played Anakin, I would say Hayden is THE Anakin Skywalker. - No one could replace Paul in Fast and Furious though. Love him
EdithWaba but Edith he was so stiff so wooden, his voice was so monotone and emotionless if Hayden had a heart and soul he could act but he is empty and dry he brought nothing to the role, and it was such an important role. If he was a good actor why doesn't he act anymore. It is because no one will hire him due to his awful acting in star wars he ruined the franchise
I'm sorry but the whole comment is absolutely wrong. He still acts. Outcast came out earlier this year. And he's about to film a new movie. He did amazing and actually he has lots of fans. And many people think that he's amazing. Especially in Episode 3 you can see the pain in his eyes. C'mon dont lie to yourself. He did amazing. He has LOTS of movies. And I love every single one of 'em. He's precious. In my opinion its not him who hasnt got a soul. Its people who pretend he was emotionless. It just shows y'all have no emotion at all. I'm sorry but as I said, he was amazing in that movie. Otherwise George wouldnt have chosen him. George Lucas isnt dumb. He could've choose Leonardo DiCaprio or Heigh Ledger. He chose Hayden, because he had this dark spirit and you can see it in his eyes. Only people with heart get it. But I accept your opinion. God bless and PLEASE do not reply something saying that Hayden is bad and bla bla because no matter, at the end of the day he's the one still doing movies and owning millions of dollars. He did his best and honestly, judging is the worst thing ever, so you should leave it. God bless and have a nice day. danny _r27 hopefully within a few more years the band wagon haters for Hayden will fall off and there will be a new love for him like the kids from my generation had
Hayden makes you sympathize with his character's inevitable doom. When I watched the Clone Wars,I had so much sympathy for him and I understood why he became the way he was. I don't think anyone could've done as amazing as Hayden did in capturing a younger adult Anakin. I'd love to see him and Natalie Portman in more movies together! I adored their chemistry.
IDK why people keep calling Hayden a bad actor. If anyone is to blame for the stuipd sand lines and dialogues, its LUCAS. OMG like have you seen Revenge of the Sith. He matures as an actor and you can see the evil Darth Vader look in him, just by his eyes alone. He plays the role really well. He has the passion in his eyes. Anakin Skywalker is one of my fav character. Yes, his acting skills in the ii suck, but its not as bad if you think about it. Hayden and Natalie both mature in the third one. Stop hating on a charismatic actor and blame the director for the lines, "I HATE SAND". TF..?? That isnt his fault, its Lucas'. Stop balming Hayden. You can see he's a good actor in the beginning. His real acting is seen easily. 2,3 are my fav star war movies.
If you climb out of the need to conform to what the media has been saying and watch the movie afresh, it's clear that George's dialogue for Hayden was nothing sort of masterful. If you disagree, you really must go out once in a while and experience love IRL. Let's see you speak smooth rhetorical English when you're actually speaking to your crush.
It's Lucas's dialogue. He knows how tell tell a great story except it's the dialogue where he lacks in as Mark Hamill stated that in A New Hope, the dialogue was just too long for some scenes or felt out of place.
people saying Hayden has no acting abilities are blind and have never seen anything else by him... he has true talent he's great and natural actor, if the role wasn't on point it was not his fault
I think one of the main reasons why casting Hayden was perfect because he has an uncanny resemblance with Mark Hamill in his youth.....you know like father like son thing. Loved all the six movies
wow he was really different without his self confidence trashed... he deserved much more from the fans... all that shit they gave him for his role... awful... he as a great anakin and is a great actor, I hope he feels confident again eventually... the good thing is that now people is starting to recognise him more and he realizes that but he still very hurt I think... come on hayden ! cheer up man, you were the best anakin skywalker ever ! well done job !
actually the script did NOT "suck". It was the DIALOGUE that was not great. The dialogue did not "suck", but it could of been better. I'm sure you are just one of these keyboard warriors that only bashes Hayden and the prequels because everyone else online does so it must be "cool". If you don't like the prequels for whatever reason then just don't watch them, nor anything on UA-cam dealing with them if all you have to say is negative shit about it.
If you climb out of the need to conform to what the media has been saying and watch the movie afresh, it's clear that George's dialogue for Hayden was nothing sort of masterful. Short, boyish dialogues conveying the sense of reality which a load of prime English would never have. "What separates an artist from a novice is that he knows when to stop moving the brush." -Oscar Wilde.
He's such a genuine nice guy & I think he did a good job as Anakin. Besides the dialogue, he's acting alone was kind of brilliant. I seriously can't picture anyone else who could have played Anakin Skywalker
Hayden is always Anakin Skywalker. After the Kenobi series. The line YOU DID NOT KILL ANAKIN SKYWALKER...I DID! really cemented his status as the one and only Anakin. No one can replace him
+Cyber Pancakes I don't see why people bash it so much. People unrealistically over bash the prequels. It's getting annoying. How can saying "I don't like sand" ruin someone's childhood? They aren't that bad! Just not as epic as we wanted but still not THAT bad.
Harrison Ford once said to George Lucas during the making of Episode IV: "George, you can write this stuff but you can't say it!" That's what many of the actors lacked in the prequels, the ability to know what dialogue they needed to change to make it not sound cheesy.
The Grey Path, I’m not a writer, but we were spared from lines like “'But we can't turn back, fear is their greatest defense, I doubt if the actual security there is any greater than it was on Aquilae or Sullust and what there is is most likely directed towards a large-scale assault." in the original trilogy.
To be honest I don't see anything wrong with his acting. I believe that Lucas did a great job of casting him for the role of Anakin and he did it extremely well especially in episode 3 which showed out his good acting skills even more.
His facial expressions were so complex and well played he really brought out the character. Especially after he killed all those Raiders that tortured his mom and was telling Padme what he did, that was one of the first times we saw the anger in his eyes that would lead him to the dark side.
what some people may not realise, hayden christensen starred in the canadian tv show higher ground (2000), it only ran for one season, but his performance in that show was incredible, and was very similar to anakin in some ways. he played a character called scott, who had been through a lot at a young age, he was naturally angry and misunderstood at times, somewhat petulant, but also was kind and compassionate, he was also very good looking, and athletic, which definitely played into anakin’s character. i imagine george and his casting director saw his performance in the show and thought he could definitely work as anakin.
People complain that hayden didn't have any real acting experience and that he was a "model". But it wasn't like mark hamill was on Hollywood's A-list either. The difference is hamill had a legitimate script to work with. I truly feel sorry for hayden. And before you think "I wish this actor played anakin", do you really believe that he can make "I don't like sand." and "Love can't save you padme, only my new powers can save me" work?
Jason Busch you saw this from this video with 10 good things about prequels i think..but when you re actually watching a movie especially star wars ...you dont care if hayden is a good kid and stuff!what you care about is that haydens acting SUCKS now youre saying those things just cause you feel sorry for him and what you said about a better actor if aand stuff yeah think about it the skript wasnt nice but with bad acting and haydens not menly voice makes me wana kill myself .oh and dont compairemarks acting with his theres a big diffrence between them mark didnt have expirience bud he knew how to act and his voice didnt brake glass
People complain about the acting and dialogue, when I see no issue in either. Now yes the dialogue could). And Hayden really did act VERY well. You can tell what Anakin is thinking and fe be a little cheesy at times but this plagued the Originals every bit as much (if not more) than it did The Prequel Trilogy. Bad dialogue doesn't ruin a movie (because we love the Originalseling even if he has no dialogue and is just staring at some object.
Hayden’s auditions were a lot better than the actual cuts from the film. Even watching the other behind the scenes of George Lucas directing Hayden, it seemed like Lucas was tweaking every single word and action that it made Hayden’s acting come out unnatural. I think he would’ve done a lot better had he the freedom to act according to his own style and not George’s.
stop criticizing George Lucas, people. it's thanks to him STAR WARS exists, we should be grateful to him, so he couldn't satisfy every single person? the man isn't perfect, he came up with the universe and it's his choice how things go, not ours, whether we like it or not, so quit complaining
You can't hate on Hayden for the prequels. He did the best he could with the lines he was given. I'm hoping he'll get a chance to show what he really can do in the new movies, with an actors director to guide him
If you see another work of hayden like shattered glass or life as a house, he is good. I think Lucas and the script were the main thing that don't let shine Hayden (besides he is so handsome) even in Jumper he did a good job... But, Lucas... Jezz he ruined his career
Calling him cute definitely sounds gay. Now you can compliment him and say he's a handsome guy, there's nothing gay about that, but cute is a little on the homosexual side of The Force.
The biggest challenge the prequels had against them, was that they were judged by people like me, who grew up with the originals. The prequels were doomed to be harshly judged by us. Now that we have a new generation for whom the prequels are not "The new ones", but just as much part of the story, they are much less hated on. Much more judged on real merit. Doesn't mean there wasn't real problems with them. The CG was not ready yet, Lucas used way too much CG for settings and environment, instead of actually building the stuff and the dialog was clunky. But the originals had the same problem with dialog, and lots of other problems. But we were children when we saw those, us who hated the prequels. I am happy to see this thread full of love of Hayden, who was hated on SO MUCH back then. I just wish you could have been alive to also save Jake Lloyd, before he went crazy from all the bad attention. He really didn't deserve that!!! Now we just have the sequels with Ren. Maybe they are also actually good, and just needs the next generation to see them as they really are? Maybe? It is just like history repeats itself, that's all.
I wish they left that scene in where he tells padme to not call him ani. I thought it would have fit better than some of the stuff that did make it in the film
It's a shame...look how excited was Hayden that he was gonna play in star wars...but it kinda destroyed his career...he is so good an actor!😍and handsome
I don't blame Hayden for his acting in 2 & 3, Natalie Portman's performance also wasn't very good. I blame the directing. I have no acting experience so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. But isn't that the role of the director?
+Jeffrey Teeselink I have both acting & directing experience. It was Lucas' fault yes, but not directly. Hayden had to act infront of a green screen pretty much the whole time. Pretty hard to know how the scene will turn out or even what the scene is about even if someone explains it to you
Yep he did fits the role of being Anakin.... I don't how everything went wrong when it's on screen- here he shows the complexity of the character and what he as an actor is capable of... It's probably the way how episode 2 structure was presented and also the dialogue... Oh well...
hayden was literally perfect for the role, i cant believe he got so much hate for it. he looks exactly as you would imagine lukes father would look like, unlike orlando bloom or dicaprio. the only problem was how the script was written. otherwise his acting, especially his facial expressions were really good for playing someone like anakin
Then Lucas said, "One of the concerns we had with casting Hayden was his hatred for sand, but luckily we were able to actually write that into the script and it turned out to be a very beautiful moment."
Why am I feeling aggressive cuteness love for hayden...when he says..call me Anakin..Ani sounds like a little boy...aaaahhhhhhhhhrrrrrrggggghhhh...I can just eat him up...!!

I don't think anyone could've done as amazing as Hayden did in capturing a younger adult Anakin. I'd love to see him and Natalie Portman in more movies together! I adored their chemistry.
I wonder why Natalie didn't take part in new flasbacks 🤔
I completely agree, But if the prequels were written and directed by someone else Hayden and Natalia would of completely excelled.
YES!

Hayden Christensen is an incredible actor and a very modest and kind person. I could not imagine anyone else playing Anakin except him.
I'm lookin good
+Anakin Skywalker Lol!
Yes you are
Obi-Wan Cannoli lolol
jeez get u r head out of the gutter dork
Hell yeah. Im so late
people saying Hayden has no acting abilities are blind and have never seen anything else by him... he has true talent he's great and natural actor, if the role wasn't on point it was not his fault
I think one of the main reasons why casting Hayden was perfect because he has an uncanny resemblance with Mark Hamill in his youth.....you know like father like son thing. Loved all the six movies
thud93factory I just can’t see it, maybe the coloring a bit?
Cabbage they have the same eyes and nose like wtf
thud93factory, Ewan in Phantom Menace looked more like he could have been Hamill’s father than Hayden ever did in the prequels.
Johnatan brandis was the perfect anakin. Mark hamil and johnatan was very resemblance.
wow he was really different without his self confidence trashed... he deserved much more from the fans... all that shit they gave him for his role... awful... he as a great anakin and is a great actor, I hope he feels confident again eventually... the good thing is that now people is starting to recognise him more and he realizes that but he still very hurt I think... come on hayden ! cheer up man, you were the best anakin skywalker ever ! well done job !
Hayden is a good actor it was just George’s script that sucked
IllJake Playz I don't like sand
Lord Psalm well said😂
actually the script did NOT "suck".
Michael Hernandez the only good part of the prequel’s is darth maul
If you climb out of the need to conform to what the media has been saying and watch the movie afresh, it's clear that George's dialogue for Hayden was nothing sort of masterful. Short, boyish dialogues conveying the sense of reality which a load of prime English would never have.
"What separates an artist from a novice is that he knows when to stop moving the brush." -Oscar Wilde.
He's such a genuine nice guy & I think he did a good job as Anakin. Besides the dialogue, he's acting alone was kind of brilliant. I seriously can't picture anyone else who could have played Anakin Skywalker
Nihaal Abrahams noooooopppppeeee!!! he's perfect😍😍
I like how the dialogue is better in the rough script than the final cut of the movie.
I don't think it was his acting....cuz I just don't think anyone could make the script sound good
He could have been a really good Anakin if the script was better.
WHAT exactly do you think he should have said??
@@thegreypath1777 shit that didn't sound like a 1950s soap opera maybe?
Exactly girl! His EYES! I'm melting
Hayden is always Anakin Skywalker. After the Kenobi series. The line YOU DID NOT KILL ANAKIN SKYWALKER...I DID! really cemented his status as the one and only Anakin. No one can replace him
Am I the only one who likes the "I don't like sand," line?
+Cyber Pancakes Probz XD
+Cyber Pancakes
It's a stupid line, but I have to say that I agree with Anakin.
+Cyber Pancakes Nope. Hahahahah. It might be SUPER cheesy but I dont see a problem with it. So no, You are not alone. That line is kinda cute too XD.
+Cyber Pancakes I don't see why people bash it so much. People unrealistically over bash the prequels. It's getting annoying. How can saying "I don't like sand" ruin someone's childhood? They aren't that bad! Just not as epic as we wanted but still not THAT bad.
+Cyber Pancakes It makes sense since Watto pushed him around on Tatooine through all of his childhood but it could have been written better.
the lines in the casting were better than what ended up in the movie
Lines made him terrible
+XxNovusxX XxOrdoxX stop giving him an excuse.
He's amazing!!
Ewan mcgregor was amazing. plus he's is 10x more handsome.
@@playwithme30 Lol no he isn't
Harrison Ford once said to George Lucas during the making of Episode IV:
"George, you can write this stuff but you can't say it!"
That's what many of the actors lacked in the prequels, the ability to know what dialogue they needed to change to make it not sound cheesy.
UKDan89, exactly. You can hear the same sort of clunky prequel dialogue in the original screen tests.
WHAT exactly do you think they should have said??
The Grey Path, I’m not a writer, but we were spared from lines like “'But we can't turn back, fear is their greatest defense, I doubt if the actual security there is any greater than it was on Aquilae or Sullust and what there is is most likely directed towards a large-scale assault." in the original trilogy.
It's like the second they cut, Hayden comes alive! He was sooo able to BE Anakin, the dialogue just choked that ability.....
jacksonhammy - WHAT exactly do you think he should have said??
@@thegreypath1777 Shut the fuck up goddamn
I’m so glad he’s getting the attention he deserves now. The prequels deserved better.
To be honest I don't see anything wrong with his acting. I believe that Lucas did a great job of casting him for the role of Anakin and he did it extremely well especially in episode 3 which showed out his good acting skills even more.
His acting was good in his audition. George Lucas just shit on the rest of the movie
Mathias Lizm Lucas did good with his movie
It was fucking good movie
He was perfect for that movie I wish he can back again in any way
+rose mack clone wars movie
His facial expressions were so complex and well played he really brought out the character. Especially after he killed all those Raiders that tortured his mom and was telling Padme what he did, that was one of the first times we saw the anger in his eyes that would lead him to the dark side.
I never understood why people said he was bad, it was Natalie Portman that didn't try or bring charisma at all.
People hating Hayden for his acting in these movies but it's not his fault to blame it's George to blame
what some people may not realise, hayden christensen starred in the canadian tv show higher ground (2000), it only ran for one season, but his performance in that show was incredible, and was very similar to anakin in some ways.
he played a character called scott, who had been through a lot at a young age, he was naturally angry and misunderstood at times, somewhat petulant, but also was kind and compassionate, he was also very good looking, and athletic, which definitely played into anakin’s character.
i imagine george and his casting director saw his performance in the show and thought he could definitely work as anakin.
Hayden it's so beautifaul
Perfect casting for anakin and obi wan
He is really one of the best actors ever.. Sadly so many people are hating him :/
Hayden Christensen is a fantastic actor . In fact he is my favourite actor so whoever doesn't like his acting your completely annoying me right now.
I like Hayden ;3
People complain about the acting and dialogue, when I see no issue in either. Now yes the dialogue could). And Hayden really did act VERY well. You can tell what Anakin is thinking and fe be a little cheesy at times but this plagued the Originals every bit as much (if not more) than it did The Prequel Trilogy. Bad dialogue doesn't ruin a movie (because we love the Originalseling even if he has no dialogue and is just staring at some object.
Hayden is my love I got him as my background image so every time I lock my phone up I see him...❤️
Me Too!
When Natalie Portman said "I'm very impressed by him" my jaw dropped!! 😲
Is it bad that I'm a guy and I think he's kinda cute... I'm not gay
Calling him cute definitely sounds gay. Now you can compliment him and say he's a handsome guy, there's nothing gay about that, but cute is a little on the homosexual side of The Force.
+TomahawkMoe Games The Gay Force is strong with you.
But yes he's kind of cute.
he's a good looking guy
+TomahawkMoe Games you're gay. lol but yes, he is gorgeous!
you sure?
What a handsome guy
Aww hayden is such a smol bean here
He’s perfect. From his looks to his humor
I wish they left that scene in where he tells padme to not call him ani. I thought it would have fit better than some of the stuff that did make it in the film
I hate that everyone said is acting was horrible. He was perfect. People stupid bias ruined his carear
Alex N honestly its actually upsetting how much hate he got
It's a shame...look how excited was Hayden that he was gonna play in star wars...but it kinda destroyed his career...he is so good an actor!😍and handsome
He was perfect 👌 my fav movies are the ones with him in them
They should have kept the line where he tells Padme not to call him "Ani". It's a nice little bit of character business.
lol that last clip just proves he charmed everyone haha. Confidence is key
Hayden was a great actor they just ruined his part by making him to whiny
He’s just so perfect
I don't blame Hayden for his acting in 2 & 3, Natalie Portman's performance also wasn't very good. I blame the directing. I have no acting experience so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. But isn't that the role of the director?
+Jeffrey Teeselink I have both acting & directing experience. It was Lucas' fault yes, but not directly. Hayden had to act infront of a green screen pretty much the whole time. Pretty hard to know how the scene will turn out or even what the scene is about even if someone explains it to you
*****
Yep, that's why I'm not putting 100% blame Hayden, and Natalie too. Padme talking about democracy was pretty lame.
+unagi I never even understood why he said that
Don't you think that was missing in Force Awakens, hearing Ray tell Fin that she hates sand? jk
You're right. If anything, it's the writing. When they gave him creepy ass shit to say, what did they expect?
perfect choice
I think the prequels are underrated. I said it.
Yep he did fits the role of being Anakin.... I don't how everything went wrong when it's on screen- here he shows the complexity of the character and what he as an actor is capable of... It's probably the way how episode 2 structure was presented and also the dialogue... Oh well...
he’s so cute
Hayden wasn't the problem at all it was the cheesy dialogue he was given
soo many haters here...
forever in love with him
2:11 he couldn't have said it better himself
And it gets everywhere.
He was so handsome and funny.
hayden was literally perfect for the role, i cant believe he got so much hate for it. he looks exactly as you would imagine lukes father would look like, unlike orlando bloom or dicaprio. the only problem was how the script was written. otherwise his acting, especially his facial expressions were really good for playing someone like anakin
Hayden was perfect for the role I reckon
Hayden was brilliant!
Then Lucas said, "One of the concerns we had with casting Hayden was his hatred for sand, but luckily we were able to actually write that into the script and it turned out to be a very beautiful moment."
I love Hayden so much in this role and thought he was FANTASTIC in II and III. I don't get the hate.
Jen Hughes he fr didnt deserve the hate he got
if James Dean and Audrey Hepburn were ever in a sci-fi movie....it would be this
hayden is very very funnyyyyyyy
Why am I feeling aggressive cuteness love for hayden...when he says..call me Anakin..Ani sounds like a little boy...aaaahhhhhhhhhrrrrrrggggghhhh...I can just eat him up...!!
Love him so much.
This featurette rules!
1:39 and that's why the final scene between Anakin and obi-wan in episode 3 worked flawlessly.
Can someone please tell me why people hate the second trilogy? I do prefer the originals but don't see whats wrong with it
0:32 Ani sounding quite badass there.
could not stop replaying 1:08-1:12 !!! omfg
He was sooo beautiful! And still he's
I hope that one day he will see all this nice comments and I hope he knows how much he is loved from the fandom...
I hate sand...
Amelia EverythingBabyNames it’s too corse dry and it gets all over the place
Its irritating
Amelia EverythingBabyNames I hate boring people who used over used bad jokes fuck you
