    To me, maybe the biggest financial advantage to living overseas in paradise , is being able to easily live on social security ( and even some of that often will go into savings), but all retirement accounts get to grow until we get to the age of required minimum distributions. Instead of being in the US, working until we are older, and tapping into those assets right away when we stop working…..our retirement dollars will grow until our 70s ! That’s huge !
    Using average returns and the rule of 72, our money is likely to double every 10 years. And we start enjoying our retirement many years earlier. WIN-WIN !
    Great video, Dan !

    I believe you have Chung who also helps you save money. She can see other options. The big the she brings is compainship. Being alone especially when you are old can cause some people to be erratic in making decisions. Stability and staying focused is shuch a big help. My wife in Malaysia helps me make better decisions. Tq for this great video.

    Commendable that you share so openly about your business. What I wonder is how many hours of work go into it, since it looks like lots of work to complete it. I imagine the hourly rate would be quite low for the first couple of years.

      That is true. Most new businesses don't make much the first few years. But people do it anyway because eventually they may make more than they could with a job and they are in charge of their day. Plus, you can't get fired from your own business for being too old.

    Hi Dan. I think viewers might not realize how hard you have worked and still work at building your channel even though you don’t see it as typical work. You had a dream 5 years ago and a plan to travel indefinitely. You then systematically built this channel with unique ideas and yes, hard work that took a lot of time and trial by error at a time when there was much less competition to do this. I see everyone and their mothers trying to start these channels and only a few really succeed because they are all pretty much doing the same thing. There are a few very special channels that go beyond the norm, but really, only a few. You and Qiang are really unique as you have learned how to present your product - travel - and are willing to do all the leg work and preparation necessary for it, which is very time consuming. I am sure that your courses will help some, but in the end, content creators must have a solid idea (yes, maybe a hobby?) and be able to attract an audience, or they will spend much time spinning wheels on paths that go nowhere. Thanks for your perspective!

    • @VagabondAwake
      @VagabondAwake  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes. The key is picking a niche that not everyone and their brother are doing. The tough niches are things like travel, making money online, day trading, and affiliate marketing. Stay out of those sorts of busy niches and your chances are much better.

    Dan, my hats off to you! Thank you for sharing some of your economics in retirement. As a public figure, you'll always have trolls, but you have a large community that listens to your advice. Given that I'm still a ways from retirement, you have given me the idea that I don't need to wait until retirement to start this journey.
    I do have a question for you. As you first got started, did you ever go through a name change for your channel? If so, can you share with us how that worked? The reason I ask is that when I first get started, I'm sure that my content would improve over the years. Experience will be the best teacher as we figure out what works well and what doesn't. Sometimes that also factors into the name of your channel. Any advice on this front would be helpful.

    • @VagabondAwake
      @VagabondAwake  11 місяців тому

      Yes. You can name change your channel. In the course I suggest you find a ".com" name that is available and is als availble on UA-cam. Then lock them both in. Then use a name that does not define your content. Then if the content changes the name doesn't have to. The reasons Apple is such a great name is that it had nothing to do with computer or phones until it became well know as such.

    I think it would be great to compare and show assisted living facilities by country in your videos or ebooks As you are aware assisted living in North America Yourself is very,very expensive. I met Europeans and Americans in some of these facilities

I've been a viewer of your channel for about 3 years or so now I purchased your hobby income course last May and I've learned more than I could have ever learned on my own. I'm blessed to have a great career and I don't need to make a dime from my new retirement "job", but I was able to start my own business, set up my EIN, set up my business checking, credit cards,2 UA-cam channels, a Spotify podcast, a website, a payment processor social media. All within a few months. I just want to thank you for all of the things that I have learned over the years from your video's and your course. Happy travels and I hope to meet you guys in the near future. Drinks are on me 😁

    Interesting video. Thanks. I would go there for the occasionals and the cravings for old habits. The prices are exorbitant. 17 euros for a salami that would cost 2 to three euros in Italy (where I live now). I'm sure a regular Philippines supermarket is much cheaper if you don't care about having U.S. brands. I certainly don't. I would go to S&R for the pasta sauce though. I would miss the tomato based sauce although I haven't tried the banana based one yet.
    If you want to eat healthily then just go to the public market for your meat, fruit and veg and you can shop for a fraction of the price. If you need a fan do you really need a Dyson import for a bloated price? Get a Philippines made one. A fan is a fan.

    Odd question and way off topic...how many countries don't have potable water supply? Even when I was in Korea in the 1980's (equivalent to a 4th world country where I was stationed) they had potable water at the tap. It would seem to me ridiculous to pay a water bill that you can't drink. You've been everywhere. How common is it to pay for poison in the pipes?

    • @VagabondAwake
