Most underrated guy in this band is Lexxi. He dumbs down his playing a bit for this band and uses a pick a lot but I played in a band with him when he was just Travis Haley. And he really is a phenomenal bass player with some of the fastest fingers I’ve ever seen. He can play any style too.
Many people are surprised how good Lexxi is playing, I guess his performance of the character overshadows his skills as a musician. I've been watching many clips of their live performances, single songs and complete concerts, covers and SP material, and his playing is allways impeccable! The man is an extremly serious bass player, don't let the goofy character of Lexxi Foxx fool you.
Lexxi is by far one of the best bassists Iv seen in a long time! Crisp sound he can sing and is a very good showman. He is the only reason they don't need a rhythm guitar player.
Wow, I knew these guys were talented, but still... DAMN! Having the nerve to cover this classic and actually doing a kick-ass job of it? Now they've REALLY blown me away!
Satchel is totally different than Malmsteen. Yngwie is totally neoclassical. Satchel is a package of all the guitar goods from the 80s. His tone is also very 80s-like
I have to agree with Youri. He's not only a talented musician, but arguably the funniest of the four. The way he looks in the mirror, also he doesn't talk much. But when he makes faces or claiming to be tired, it speaks volumes. Hilarious as hell.
love them or hate them ( I love them) they are a great band that plays VERY well and puts on a great show...that is a lost art on today's bands. Starr hits all of DCs notes while jumping around and working the crowd like a good front man should. My hats off to all of them!
Lexxi just rocks this song and shows the amazing and skilled player that he is, he does everything in this song, slaps the bass, finger style, chords, scales etc etc etc and also bringing his awesome personality to the stage. Man I miss him on Steel Panther, not the same group without him
One of the few videos where you can see Lexxi Fox kicking ass on the bass, that's some serious bass attack he's got going on! skills, moves the whole thing!
Lexxi is freakin' amazing! He is the reason why I wanted to become a bass player myself. Thanks for this awesome video. Most videos focus on singer or guitarist which I understand but bass players rule!! ;)
George Kolotouros nice. I saw Atomic Punks a few times in Hawaii and California. First time I saw them was right before Russ joined them. That guitarist was good but Russ Parrish brought everything they were missing. They were an incredible VH cover band, the best. I think it’s funny seeing some of the comments from people who don’t know where Russ Parrish and Ralph Saenz were before this and only know them as Satchel and Michael Starr from Steel Panther. Yeah they do great covers. They were the core of one of the greatest cover bands I’ve ever seen. I love what they do with Steel Panther now, and every time they play a cover song it reminds me of those days watching Atomic Punks. Good to know there were some other folks watching them during those days. These guys are awesome. Hah, bet it would also surprise people to know the only one with genuinely long hair is Ralph... The other three out of costume are dang near unrecognizable, clean cut polo shirt wearing guys. All happily married with families and such. This is all a big parody of the ridiculously over the top 80’s hair bands and they are killing it!
not sure if peopple realize how good these guys are. hands down, Ralph is not only an incredible singer, but has and amazing stage presence with his sense of humor and crowd interaction. Seen him dozens of times in this band and The Atomic Punks. Every time he blows people away. they may be imitating other bands, but theyre the first to admit the fact and say they just want to have a good time in honor of the music they love.
So glad I found this, it's still one of my favourite songs and a defining one of the '80s! With it's amazing bass line, also a great way for Lexxi to show off a bit and he really gets into it. He takes a lot of ribbing but all of these guys are amazing musicians and Michael can sing absolutely anything! Thank you for making this available to watch
Michael stars voice can make rockers now just havem go to there rocking chairs shit his good vocalist range is amazing sounds like David Lee Roth Vince Neil and Bret Michael's
They are so much more talented then the bands of today.so funny and original. I wish they would put out a serious album or two.i also would love to see them and spinal tap do a song or album together.imagine them touring.
These guys are great. A take off of my favorite comedy of all time, 'This is Spinal Tap' & these guys are talented to boot. I first seen their video for 'Do you really really love me' about a year ago and it cracked me up, but this is the first time I have gone on youtube and checked out a bunch of their interviews & cover tunes. Love it. I'd go see them live for sure a good time to be had.
When these guys were playing at the Viper Room was the best. Theyd play tunes from twisted sister, the crue etc. I remember Steve 0 from jack ass would show up and theyd play his favorite band- Crue's Live wire. Cool thing about Ralph is that he's get bands he liked to open for them. Grayson's Manor rings a bell. That lead singer was great!
This band deserves so much more fame; they would probably have it if the songs they composed weren't so dirty, but then again that's one of the things I love about their original songs...
Still think this is one of the best blues-based riffs ever created. Testament to DC's writing and Sykes awesomeness. SP does a fantastic cover here. I don't think anyone should find fault with this band for what they do. In fact, it's pretty much unfair to continue considering them a cover band. Their original stuff is amazing!
give me a like if you agree Steel Panther should go down as the best cover band in history..look how many covers they have done that are as good if not better than the original band that wrote and performed them.
Look up some of the videos on channel racerxsurgeon I think it is. Paul and Russ (satchel) had a side band called Electric Fence and did a ton of covers.
After watching quite a few Steel Panther videos I think that every metal-ish band should just call it quits. SP plays their songs better than them and have got enough quality originals to keep things interesting. Most versatile group of players I have ever seen. And I've only seen one of them.
Most underrated guy in this band is Lexxi. He dumbs down his playing a bit for this band and uses a pick a lot but I played in a band with him when he was just Travis Haley. And he really is a phenomenal bass player with some of the fastest fingers I’ve ever seen. He can play any style too.
Not to mention his singing
Many people are surprised how good Lexxi is playing, I guess his performance of the character overshadows his skills as a musician. Well, it's the oldest saying in the music business for a reason. 99.99% of people listen with their eyes. :)
and he can sing too
MrGagipn they all are incredible musicians. I personally love Lexxi's character the best.
MrGagipn really he plays the bass ??
Lexxi is great, I agree
Lexxi tearin' that shit up. Dude is very talented. Holy smokes!!!
Lexxi was feeling the music-he was rocking the fuck out!
quazi111 Ya he was kickin some fuckin ASS .. "o)
Lexxi is by far one of the best bassists Iv seen in a long time! Crisp sound he can sing and is a very good showman. He is the only reason they don't need a rhythm guitar player.
Take away their fooling around and you find they are all great talented musicians.
rantnpod in Satchel's case he played with Rob Halford so that alone solidifies his skills.
very true
Monster musicians.
Agreed!
You do not have to take away anything from their performance.
That dude can play the bass
Mudafuker is in the pocket!
StevieRay 71 they are all awesome musicians..some don't take them serious because of the side show but they kick ass
What dude?
@@loveandpeace9908 The one with lipstick and eyeliner XD
Lexxi is killin the bass here
Well the sad thing is Lexxi left the band and Steel panther is still looking for bassist. Well I hope he or she'll be really good for the band.
His tone is also very 80s-like
This is awesome. Lexi does really show his talents as a bass player and Michael's vocals are great. Loved it
Tami Killion what. No fridge
I have to agree with Youri. He's not only a talented musician, but arguably the funniest of the four. The way he looks in the mirror, also he doesn't talk much. But when he makes faces or claiming to be tired, it speaks volumes. Hilarious as hell.

The reason why I always go to the side of the bass player on concerts is perfectly shown in this video
I never focus much on Lexi but DAMNN!! Bass Like a fucken BOSS !... effortless
These guys are as good as it gets. Incredible performance.
Do yourself a favor- see these guys live.
For sure. they're better than the bands they cover 99% of the time.
Flawless! Long live the Panther!
One of the few videos where you can see Lexxi Fox kicking ass on the bass, that's some serious bass attack he's got going on! skills, moves the whole thing!
its such a good band, but man there really on fire on this one holy shit
Well they were a cover band at first. Awesome
Lexxi is giving is some here!! Great sound quality too
2:35
HOLY MOLYYYY !!!
Those BEASTY HEADBANGS !!!
O_o
Lexxi is freakin' amazing! He is the reason why I wanted to become a bass player myself. Thanks for this awesome video. Most videos focus on singer or guitarist which I understand but bass players rule!! ;)
not to mention the stellar vocals and guitar, great performance all around
Satchel stealing Lexxi's mic. lmao This is amazing.
Whenever I'm in a bad mood, turning up SP blows it away everytime.
wish the audio was better this is my favorite song
Satchel is a damn good guitarist . Use to see him play with Atomic Punks in San Diego before they became Steel Panther.
George Kolotouros nice. I saw Atomic Punks a few times in Hawaii and California. First time I saw them was right before Russ joined them. Used to play this in the late 80’s. Lol RESPECTS GENTS!! Damn!! 😮😎🎸🥰
That was awesome!
not sure if peopple realize how good these guys are. hands down, Ralph is not only an incredible singer, but has and amazing stage presence with his sense of humor and crowd interaction. Even nails Ozzy
They are so much more talented then the bands of today.so funny and original. I wish they would put out a serious album or two.i also would love to see them and spinal tap do a song or album together.imagine them touring.
watching these guys is just like reliving the 80's all over again, their awesome
Don't know if Gilbert taught Satchel, but they both taught together at the guitar institute.
SP is never disapointing in any live video Ive seen, I am getting tickets asap when they tour through my area.
I love this song so much, went looking for covers, hoping to find a SP one, fuck yeah!
I'm blown away how good the bass playing is here! Wow!
These guys are great. A take off of my favorite comedy of all time, 'This is Spinal Tap' & these guys are talented to boot. These guys crack me up !! They can jam , and that dude can sing !!!! Awesome !!!
Great bassist!!!!
Thanks for uploading this, fantastic cover.
That bass sounded ass kicking

This is by far there BEST song they do.

Best cover I've ever heard of this song... great band....

He nailed it!
@TypeSH I second that, I would take a trip to Philly to see SP. They are all talented.
Great sound!
MAN LEXXI CAN SLAP THAT BASS lol also whats up with the guys saying they should be a cover band...have you not heard their albums!!! you crazy!
Epic!!
Holy fucking shit Lexxi rocked the fuck out of that bass,
Steel Panther is good but Whitesnake also great at live show even now!! How anyone said the dislike is came from David Coverdale?
they nail it!!!!! AWESOME
Thumbs up if there are certain songs you'd rather hear the SP cover of than listen to the original.
WOW these guys are frickin good.
Just put that cover album out already. SP covers are legendary.
Indeed a rare video. Thx for uploading it, man...
give me a like if you agree Steel Panther should go down as the best cover band in history..look how many covers they have done that are as good if not better than the original band that wrote and performed them.
These guys fucking killed it. This cover is so good
tearin it up on the bass!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they ever run out of ideas (sorry songs to rip off haha) and just decide to do covers, I would still buy their albums. They are amazing!
Ha ha ha funny towards the end where Satchel cuts in front of Lexxi's mic and takes over singing!
These guys are far more talented than people know.
IM # 100,000 !!!! id like to thank allmy supporters....couldnt have done it without ya!
Damn! They nail'd this song! Fan-fuckin'-tastic job!
Look up some of the videos on channel racerxsurgeon I think it is. Paul and Russ (satchel) had a side band called Electric Fence and did a ton of covers.
THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING!
Agree with the other comments... great to see Lexi play some kick-ass bass.
Hey! I have the same t-shirt that Mike's wearing in this vid!!
rock and roll perfection
i love it!
Yeah!! Steel panther rocks!!#!🤘🤘
After watching quite a few Steel Panther videos I think that every metal-ish band should just call it quits. SP plays their songs better than them and have got enough quality originals to keep things interesting. Most versatile group of players I have ever seen. And I've only seen one of them.
Best "cover" ever ;-)
This is how it should be talented and showy all in one
They have a Great Soundman out front!
