- Steel Panther are joined onstage by Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) and Christian Martucci (Stone Sour, Corey Taylor) to cover Dio's "Rainbow In The Dark" during their Shiprocked performance aboard the Carnival Breeze, January 25, 2022.
You can’t really beat people up for not singing like Dio. I saw him live back in the 80s and the guy was about 5’3” tall but all lungs. He also had some serious musical training.
Yeah but that's the thing. Dio didn't do Slipknot screams that damaged his vocal chords and Dio also didn't have to tour as much as Corey does. At this point I truly believe Corey needs a voice rest.
@@aceventurapetdetective1736 Probably an unpopular opinion, but I love Corey's live vocals as he gets older and more blown out. He sounds like Dave Brockie now and i'd pay to see him sing for GWAR for a couple songs at a show where both Slipknot and GWAR are in the lineup.
Dude just to see Corey Taylor on stage during someone else's concert is awesome in it's self.
Let's just say that this performance makes me realize even more about how awesome Dio and his band were.

Rikki Thrash, he had won the contest when they were looking for a new bass player after Lexxi quit but the business side of things didn't work out.
I'm sayin' if that dude Lexxi, personified, one type of dude from the 80's, the new guy has got that other dude from the 80's vibe seemingly, wothout effort. All the dudes that dressed loke that in the 80's were the same dudes saying Don Dokken and George Lynch were cooler than EVH, and DLR. Those dudes talked about using Dorian, Mixolodian, and various other modes, to created solos, and understood what a harmonized scale was. I know for sure. I was there, and I remember, cuz I thought I was one, then Appetite happened, right after Night Songs, and I returned to true form.

Corey has got some pipes on him but I think Michael is better on a technical level and has better control when belting. The vibrato and high notes he hits here are incredible. It's still f***ing amazing seeing Corey get up there and do his thing with these guys. All legends in their own right!
