The 13th Faulty Mechanic in SSBM

- The 13th and last faulty mechanic in Melee stems from an issue with the Run state. The fix for this mechanic is notable in that it allows Fox to perform what was formerly a TAS-only input sequence on a Gamecube controller.
I’ve released a new version of 1.03 which contains this fix, as well as a controller fix rotator that lets you toggle the 13 fixes on gradually.

there will never be a 14th faulty mechanic in ssbm
famous last words
Melee itself is the 15th faulty mechanic
The 14th faulty mechanic: "hold my beer"
Clueless
😂
I want this game to be riddled with hundreds of faulty mechanics just so I can watch more Hax videos.
I suspect that this is not the last mechanic
Hax for president of melee
Hax$ is a scientist
he's also an arist, what man
he has a Ph.D. for a reason
I can finally blame my crappy fountain recoveries with samus on a polling issue
My thoughts exactly 😅. I thought I was just crazy.
Hax should be a writer for the kingdom hearts series with this fixation on 13
dark triad saga is gonna be lit
the more you suck the more it grows
Imagine losing a match for doing a down B with this exact stick position and a neutral B coming out instead, and none believe you (maybe not even yourself 😂)
Thanks, Aziz. I always click these videos when I see them, and the Controller Fix is so sick.
Hax is the goat
hax can fix anything except thinking it’s the last faulty mechanic
Hax is da man
This is the best of the Faulty Mechanic Series
I really wish there was a Melee HD were they simply polished the controller inputs and maybe a few light udpates like Mewtwo being able to actually reflect stuff
We know they would update the game then we would possibly have 2 standardized rulesets
And fix poor GnW lol
Great video
I didn't understand much of this video, but I'm glad you're doing gods work for the melee community! And same goes for your buddy who helped as well, well done! :D
Awesome job!
The GOAT
can we ust implement this sh already
😂😂😂😂 im so done i swear
Hax is the goat of melee tech
waveshine really doesnt need a buff
based
the 13th ghost
I'm generally fine with the Hax controller fix but this is too far. Surgically buffing one of fox's strong options to be 2 frames faster is simply a no. This will sway me away from supporting 1.03.
That never happened.
Doesn’t this affect dash out of run in general?
What's "unfair" about this mechanic inherently being inconsistent? This is literally just a fox buff
buff of any character that relies on their down b... Falco, puff, luigi, doc, Samus for example
@@thomashanson3476 you realize none of those characters even vaguely benefit from this as much as fox?

again, obviously we should fix polling instead of removing all the one frame windows, since those are the hypest techniques because of their precision
Saying "we should just fix polling" might be easier than it seems. It might be easier to change the polling tolerance which might just involve changing a couple values vs reworking a core system of the game itself. To fix the polling itself could cause more unforeseen issues and means you're messing with a core system of how the game functions. You really want to mess with that stuff as little as possible.
@@diodora2381 yeah it would require a lot of careful analysis, but way less than analysis than changing all the tiny little one frame things which we will keep discovering for years to come
@@TylerClibbon We've covered most of the major ones already. The ones that Hax$ are covering now are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.
@@diodora2381 even if there are no more, its clearly lame to remove one frane timings and the rng of polling will always be in the back of our minds unless we fix it
@@TylerClibbon If you want to try to reverse engineer the binary to the point where you can rework and fix the polling system, have at it. It's not an easy job most likely from what I can tell, so this will always be easier. It might be "lamer", but it makes the game more consistent and in my opinion makes the game more enjoyable to play.
first
Wait... PEOPLE DONT SHINE OUT OF RUN?? Ive been doing that ever since a decade ago 😭 Are you telling me there was an easier way?? Damn.
As much as I love 1.03, I don't really think buffing fox is healthy for the community lol
Hax, imma be honest, you're very good but you are kinda over analytical, you know all this frame data, yet you didn't even know that wavedashing around frame perfect with falcon is still slower than running. Here you claim that fox needs to be buffed essentially to make something easier to do when fox is already the best character in the entire game I've heard you say this like so much, if all the changes you wanted implemented were implemented it would ruin the game, fox would be too good and I would honestly quit this game lmao. I think you are capped on skill not due to fox not being fast enough but because you need to pick better options, and a lot of times the better options aren't actually super technical hard frame perfect inputs, it's recognition, every time i watch your play I get the same idea, this guy will pick the same, perfectly executed option, and he will pick it every single time, it's like you're not playing the game vs your opponent your just essentially the best execution tester
what on earth are you wafflin about
wtf you on about lol
@@NaJk93 hax$ approach to the game is to play as little neutral as possible and use shine above all else to pressure shield. The only valid answer to that is to shine OoS, which is an execution test.
@@EA_SP0RTCENTER lol
Let's just go back to OEM controllers without UCF.
problem is the inconsistency between oem controllers, the price hikes that'll happen when they stop producing them, and basically the general controller issues which plagued melee for the first 15 years of its lifespan.
For the sake of the longevity of the game I do believe finding a way to standardize gameplay across controllers is the right approach. As to whether hax's proposed fixes buff certain characters/techniques too much idk.
I see it as an issue of: if you have an inconsistent mechanic, do you nerf it so no one can use it, or do you buff it so everyone can do it?
It's like how in the early years of melee the ability to do things like shielddrops and pivots was very much dependent on the quality of the controller. Many controllers couldn't do those techniques. By implementing ucf we've created a version of melee which is not quite how the original game actually plays.
This does mean that some of the meta which has been developed at the highest levels actually isn't even reasonable to apply to the base game, they're only reliable options because of ucf.
It's weird.
blud thinks he's on the team 😂
Is switching from dash to run just when you dash past the point you can do a dash back?
