    If you are looking for a YT Channel to guide you through Year 10 & 11 to Grade 9s at GCSE, you have come to the right place!
    My name is Tamra and I achieved Grade 9s in all of my subjects at GCSE. However, I was not always achieving Grade 9s in Year 11. I actually went from a Grade 6 to Grade 9 in English Language - I did this by changing my mindset, how I looked and answered the questions.
    With hard work and my (free) guidance, you will be able to get higher grades and perhaps even all 9s in your final exams if you put your mind to it. Anything is possible :). Feel free to like, comment or subscribe if this helps you. I hope to see you in the next video.

    I just found this channel after searching for the most perfect simplified video but informational. I think I can get my predicted grades although I have less than 30 days until my first exam however. I’m currently at a grade 3/4 for English literature however I did not know I was capped at 10/30 marks if I didn’t mention the ‘whole’ play… However my predicted grade is a 7 and I’m willing to do anything at this point to get that. Going off topic to show off my knowledge, personally Is one of my weaknesses. I will probably come back after all my exams are over and edit this comment to see how much I improved by.
    I have a mock exam for English literature (last one) this Friday so I will hope I get better than a 4 then build up to a 7 or above 😁
    Have a good day to anyone who reads this comment, and if you have exams, best of luck to you!!!

      How do you revise for the exams? Perhaps try different revision methods. I was in your shoes too, what I did was I talked to some of my friends who were getting top marks in English and asked them to help me/give me perceptive analysis. I learnt from them what I needed to change and what the mark scheme is looking for.

    Hi, thank you for your video! It is really helpful. As there are only around 20 days left till gcse, would you recommend to prioritise making plans for different themes/ possible questions or doing practice questions instead? If I have a clear plan for all the themes / characters, will it be more beneficial than completing loads of past paper/ practice questions? thx

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  Рік тому +1

      Prioritise making plans and memorising them but try to do at least one practice question with one of the plans you make so you know that you have the right exam technique. Try and get your teachers to mark this before you go off to study leave. Basically I would make a plan, get my teachers to mark it, and based off that feedback either add or get rid of unnecessarily information from my plan, then make more plans knowing what is effective. Good luck!

    Do you have any tips for English language? I've been getting a 7 (barely) for all my mocks in year 11 and hopefully it's not too late to try and get a 9. Would you recommend memorising a creative writing story beforehand or just writing it on the spot?

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  Рік тому +9

      Hey, I am currently making an English Language vid which should come out during the Easter holidays. For now, I would recommend creating two story plots and a description plan which are quite versatile so if any question comes up, you can use one of those pre-planned plots. Memorise the plot rather than the writing. :)

    What Poems did you choose to focus on for Power and conflict?

  • @Ayzlxn
    @Ayzlxn Рік тому +7

    Thanks for this! Also I’m worried that the 5 quotes I’ll memorise for each character won’t be relabels to the question. Like the 2022 paper for macbeths fears, if that was my actual gcse id what I would do bc the quotes I would’ve memorised would not be linked to that - so I’m really worried another question like that where I won’t have any good quotes will come up this year. Do you have any advise?

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  Рік тому +2

      Yeah I had that Macbeths fears question in my actual exam - it was a bit dodgy. I was always able to talk about hubris and how that relates to an Aristotelian tragedy (context).
      I would look at past paper questions and see if you can use the quotes you have memorised. Perhaps learn some more if you feel as though you cannot adapt your quotes to the question. Hope this helps :)

    hi! should i answer chronologically, like structure my paragraphs from the beginning of the play/novel to the end and fitting the extract in the timeline?

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  Рік тому +1

      Hey, I would include the extract at the beginning of all 3 main points that you have. For example:
      Main point paragraph 1:
      Point - from extract
      Evidence - from extract, 1 quote in detail
      Explanation - link it to the beginning of the play
      Context - add some in
      Then paragraph 2 and 3 are the same but link it to the middle and end of the play.
      So it is chronological but with the extract in every paragraph so you link it to the question.

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  Рік тому +2

      Perhaps if they are marking you down, you could ask why? Feedback would be the most important thing at this stage. If you are not satisfied with the feedback you could always ask another teacher to mark an essay of yours to see what they think.
      I wouldn't be too worried as in the real thing, your teacher is not going to be the one marking it. Also, the examiners want you to do well and mark positively - sometimes it does not feel that way but if you make one perceptive comment in the top band, they have to put you in that band. Hope this helps :)

For reading, you've got to memorise the main words (edexcel list for me) and also I would try looking at the context of the sentence and then making an educated guess. Hey, okay so, at 5:00, you said that Eric Birling came up on the real exam, but I can't seem to find a single exam where he showed up, and in the 2022 exams, Q7 was Chain of events and Q8 was Anger. In a nutshell, should I bother with Eric?

    • @tamratips
      @tamratips  Рік тому +2

      In my AQA 2022 paper, one of the choices was Eric and the other was about inequality in society.
      There will always be two options for the questions so if Eric comes up in one and the other is the theme, you do not have to bother with Eric. However, you could always use Eric's character when answering a theme question so you should vaguely know what happens with Eric but you don't have to learn many quotes from his character.
      Hope that makes sense :)
