This film was really good. I love the fashions and decor. Also, the lighting in these old films was truly designed to add effects.

This type of lighting in films began with German Expressionism in the early 20th century. The German director, Fredrick Murnau, brought this style of filming to Hollywood.

      Yes, " As one sows,
      so shall one reap" .
      The one thing that
      stood out in the story
      was that men cant be
      patient ! They have
      to have it now !
      If the silly husband had
had a bit of self control,
      all would have worked
      out well, but he was
      so selfish, he even
      killed his paramour
      as well ! 👎👿
      Monster ! 👿
      Still, patience and
      kindness don't attract
      drama / crime movie
      fans, do they !
By the way, I don't agree
      about " great movie " 👎😢

Because her devotion was to Mrs. Harrison. And seeing Mr. Harrison dead and that "new woman" that she hated for taking Mrs. Harrison's place, she was happy to see justice done, although a rather perverted justice.
The part I didn't get was when The Whistler said that the page from the diary could have saved Mr. Harrison's neck, I don't see how it could have. They had the bottle analyzed; it contained poison; and the page from the diary showed that Mrs Harrison witnessing him coming into her room and doing something with that bottle.

@@j.criquette3334 Thanks. I also saw that...but if she just wrote in her diary that she saw her husband with a poison bottle, and she suspected him, then WHY would she take a drink..and die from said poisoning? If you were going to get that bottle analyzed, wouldn't you go: "Oh, I'm not taking any chances, there could be poison in anything I'm going to consume here." That's why I even thought when you see her on the floor, I thought for a moment she was faking her death. Aaah, some movie scripts.......

The letter would have proved that she didn't drink the poison. Saving his neck might mean that he wouldn't receive the death penalty since he did not directly cause her death. The stress of it all caused her to relapse, not the poison. But since he strangled the new wife, the letter would do him no good in that case. just my analysis of a movie.

That's what I expected too, probably after years of being conditioned to suspect the worst from everyone, helped along by modern day movies. Nice to see the way that people were portrayed in the past as actually having some moral standing.

God our Creator wants us to dress respectfully. It is easier to do our best when we look our best.
Dresses, panty hose, and heels are not for me. I prefer slacks. But I still look neat and clean when I go out. It shows that I have respect for myself and others, although I don't judge others' way of dressing. It is not my business. Jeans, for example, are totally acceptable and popular nowadays. But at my age,
    I prefer loose-fitting slacks, a nice shirt, and nice-looking sneakers. 🎉

Other than being a vehicle for Richard Dix' career, I never really grasped the appeal. Having said that, I do end up watching them from time to time. Radio broadcasts were better. And Dix definitely needed a vehicle.

Why I wish somebody would add a intelligent comment. These are movies they are not real life they were made in a different time and period. People were poor as hell then of course they wanted to see somebody dressed well it was not the Golden age. Why do people not look to the Future and always look to the past😢

Even poor people and working people in the past dressed well and looked after their appearance as best they could.

The plot was so predictable, and flawed, with all the phone listening, and housekeeper even making a call when the downstairs phone was still off the hook, and why did police shoot the guy as he is running up the stairs? There was no threat to them?
