This is the kind of movie I grew up on. Movies about people with dreams and love in their heart. This one had several of the greatest film stars that ever graced a camera. Thank you so much for showing it and without commercials. It was glorious to watch. ❤🎉
Unusual movie, but totally real to life. Two injured people, lying to themselves about the past ....when the hidden truth comes out, there is a great healing. Wonderful movie, don't miss it.
what kind of silly propaganda is this movie! The heroic man who saved other, he actually had just little to live for! Thatàs gratuitous! Its like America feeling guilty for asking so many men to die for her and then tell to herself not to feel guilty about them, they actually sacrified themselves only becausethey had little to live for. DISTGUSTING.
what afilm. absolutely wonderful. my dad did the full 7 years war, unfortunately on the "wrong side", , he never spoke of what he went through...but we suffered his drinking problems and gambling till the day he had to spend a week in hospital ,the shock scared him..then with the birth of my son, he "redeemed" the last 6 years of his life. yes this film sheds light on lots of hidden reasons for peoples vices. respect for all veterans of the services during and after.
It's a crying shame this film hasn't gotten more exposure. Intelligent and absorbing story about heroism, grief, and self-discovery. Joe can walk and he has only one leg. Wise and inspiring.
Darn, that is a great movie. Most unusual. A psychological twist and turn until the very end. The patient saves the healer. Uncanny story line. Rosline Russel and Melvyn Douglas were terrific. How can such a story be told in so few minutes?
This was an unexpected gem! It has everything from romance to drama, and touches upon some touchy subjects. My dad said the men that became permanent drunks after their first war always do so for one of 3 reasons: guilt, shame or a broken mind (from witnessing horrible things). I agree. This movie had two great stars and a cast of really good actors, and I hope it helped families at least think about what their men went through. I wish I could bottle my father's strength of mind; he was a Marine in WWII, Korea and several tours of 'Nam, but people were often shocked to learn his combat experience. He was never moody, not silly, but just happy with a love of life. Wish I could bottle that... TY-Great post!
What a well-written movie. I love movies like this which treat writing as a craft. So much psychological depth in the script. Thank you for the upload.
What a wonderful.. it hits to the core of reality and shows how each of us in some way or another strives to be better even though we think.. by facing the.. as they say the truth will set you
Wow - 10/10 stars! This is an amazing film exploring often-overlooked themes ranging from survivor's guilt to spiritual redemption. Tight, insightful script and character studies, acted shockingly well, and incorporating clever, cutting-edge symbolism and camera choices for the era. This really is just-shy of a masterpiece. Thank you for posting this obscure gem!
I love Melvyn Douglas! He's wonderful in just about everything ive ever seen . Rosline Russell love her too . If only life could really work out even half as good . Oh well such is life!?!
I loved this film. It really was a psychological thriller that made me think about life and death and to value all types of people. The acting was very good and I felt their pain and eventual realization that there would be time for happiness and love. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
That was quite a ride! I kept thinking towards the end that he was going to have already died & turn out to be an angel . Loved the perfect/imperfect ending; sometimes fiction is more real than reality. “Word pictures”👍🏼👏👏 Great acting and creative script!!❤
If U Have Split Personality Why Always Use The Ugly One..😂.. Great Line.. I might sneak it in 2 an argument with my girlfriend sometime.. she has schizophrenia.. 😢.. But I must love her! still around 22yr now.. 😊
Drama on steroids from beginning to end. Good story.Well played. Well directed. Outstanding drama in the cinematography. The kind you can only get in black and white films.
Douglas and Russell; two adept, experienced actors having to do a "Beat-a-Dead-Horse" Freudian plot. Give two cheers to a very young Denver Pyle and Sid Caesar! A well done film.
Amazingly wonderful film- my two most favourite actress and actor! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS INCREDIBLE FILM, when acting was honest and genuine. I felt every intended emotion. I prefer English films, or films from the 1930's but this one is GREAT!!!!
Well that's a superb film if ever I saw one and Roslind Russell well - just magnificent. Melvyn Douglas good. It's so unfortunate that things have altered the way they have. That picture is a word picture of hopes and dreams that make life worth living. There was a time when Art really was Art and that picture is. Thanks for posting. Loved it. It's The Truth.
WOW!! that's Denver Pyle....speaking at the very first minutes of the movie trying to pick up Rosalind R?? He was stunningly handsome...Boomers remembers him always dressed in farmer "overalls or in a space ship. LOL
A very odd movie. It felt more like a stage play. Many moments of dreams and unreality. Lots of symbolism, morality, and interior ideas. The Sid Caesar routine was a bit jarring, as it didn't really fit into the storyline (such as it was). It almost felt like rhe studio held Caesar's contract so they stuck his cameo in. Interesting and well acted and probably suited to the concerns of the era when it took place, in wartime. Interesting, but it didn't really grab me, but at the same time worth watching. Not a light-hearted throwaway.
Interesting movie. We are only human and the things that the Powers That Be who put upon the average person impossible responsibilities to shoulder. He is the one who should feel guilt and shame, but God sees all and knows the truth. Revelation 12:9-12 " The one called Devil and Satan who is misleading the entire inhabited earth... having great anger knowing he has a short period of time."
Interesting Freudian themed film from the late 40s, when psychological melodramas were at their height. Russell turns in an intriguing performance as the neurotic and "emasculating" wife, based in part from her role as "Harriet" in Craig's Wife (36).
Good movie, would have been nice to have had the opening credits. Please tell me, is this latest trend a ploy to dodge copyright or just a nod to peoples lack of concentration these days. Cannot believe it is the former as surely youtube has far more sophisticated ways of detecting copyright material. I do appreciate any upload but a movie does not seem right without the credits and to movie buffs they are an important part of the film.
Very interesting film! FOLKS... I Need ADVICE... I will come back 2check comments.. She is right in her eyes, respect her point. It’s her opinion, don’t make her feel that you don’t care, talk about it, she is a individual , don’t block her out. Or she will block you out ,
What the neighbors might think about what? I mean seriously...some things are important what the neighbors think. Like the smell of a corpse buuried in your backyard ( if your cray cray.) I can't advocate that. 😂 You're too vague. Be more specific.
Fascinating script about how our own sins make us sick. The only thing missing here is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who paid the price for all of us and heals us -- I am my best proof. I'm a retired union actress -- and I approve of this movie. lol
@@jeannineedgeton Actually, this film is a cornucopia of character actors, some better known than others. I recognize3d several familiar faces in just the first 10min of the movie- - although I didn't realize that was Denver Pyle, but I knew he looked familiar.. I just couldn't 100% recognize him.
I like the film. I hate that you edit out the opening credits. Your audience WANTS to know the details of cast and technical crew. I recommend a boycott of this YT channel until it returns opening credits!
I agree w/you! They should NEVER slice off the very start of any film. It's always nice to see the opening credits, etc. I think a lot of folks are just being too polite to say. Good film, though, but please keep the opening intact! "Thank you!"
Has no one spotted the connection between this film and a famous 19th century book-perhaps I should say long short story-by a British writer whose initials are C.D?
When script writers turned their insights on real life. Today we are submerged in nonsense. We have plunged a long way into the worst of human nature reflected in the Arts since 1947. Those who create today are part of the problem, being among the dregs of this world themselves. Per Ardua Ad Astra.

One i never saw before.
This is the standard i'll measure them all by.

It’s a rare moments in life that a book,a person,or a movie is able to reset a life that’s worth living. Joy and epiphany.
I only watch old films. This one is the reason why. Wonderful film.

Interesting to see Hugh Beaumont playing against such a major star as Rosalind Russell.
Why do you always remove the start of the film???

a great writer, a great actor it would even be better if it was an actress with more emotion.
I thought she came across very acceptably as someone who was slightly resistant and bristling against being analysed and judged.
I thought she displayed deep emotion in her portrayal of a grieving widow.
