  • In today's video, I wanted to cover how to acclimate and treat/medicate your new pet crocodile skink! This guide will work for red-eyed crocodile skinks (Tribolonotus gracilis) and white-eyed crocodile skinks (Tribolonotus novaeguineae). Many of my viewers reach out, expressing difficulty with their skinks. I wanted to make this video in hopes that I can hopefully help you have the highest chance of success acclimating crocodile skinks!

I think using paper towels for quarantine is the better option because it helps keep things clean and poops are easy to spot and monitor. As for the QOTD, I don't know that I ever want to breed animals. I agree, captive bred is the way to go in purchasing reptiles and I appreciate the effort put in by those who do so.

I don’t know if you were aware, but Magic: the Gathering just revealed the main characters of an upcoming set. The world is all animals and one of them is a red eyed skink! I immediately thought of you and had to share. This video reminded me. Even if you’re not a fan of the game, you should look it up. The set is called Bloomburrow and it looks like the skink will be a wizard 🤓

I absolutely love this kind of content. As much as we should focus on captive bred animals unless we are attempting to breed species to make them more available in the hobby, the fact remains that animals ARE taken from the wild. The very least we can do is everything in our power to ensure their successful transition to captivity. Excellent video as always.

Thank you so much for this honest and detailed video! I feel like it is educational far beyond mini dragons to show the process of bringing in a WC lizard.
Personally I know I lack the expertise to ethically breed animals, and I don't want to keep enough to gain that expertise. So although it's exciting to see others' large collections and breeding efforts, the focus of my reptile keeping is probably going to stay "providing the best care and enrichment I can" to a small number of animals. :)

This has been such a nice project to follow along with. And the ways you handle your reptiles are something for everyone in the hobby to aspire to.
For the question of the day: Phelsuma Barbouri and Phelsuma Malamakibo the 2 known rock dwelling species.
Living in the highlands they require a very high temperature variation from day to night to thrive. They would require a separate room with airco or a basement.

I have a captive bred female that has been laying eggs she’s 4 1/2years old now she was one of my holdbacks. I unfortunately have to sell off my croc skinks to make room for different projects. So I have few available 1male and 3 females if anyone is interested. There’s videos of them so you can see they are captive bred I’m just located in US in Pennsylvania and really don’t want to ship them I prefer pickup for the safety of them. I really wish you could take them for your project mini dragon and if you want them I’d donate them to the project because I know they are going to a great home and that’s all I care about. Well I hope everyone has a great day and wish you all the best 🙋‍♂️✌️

As far as which species need to be bred more in captivity. Emerald Tree Skinks. I just got my first pair about a month ago, and already I've bonded super deeply with them. I've never seen a reptile do the little foot dance that puppy dogs do, because they're SO excited to hop out of the enclosure. They sometimes hop onto the floor but they never really run away, and half the time if I put my hand in front they'll hop up on their own. They are still in the US at least primarily wild caught, it took me forever to find this pair of CB babies in my area, but they are already my favorite reptile.
