    I am a military contractor who has a passion for doing everything myself. I am alone in San Diego so I started arts and crafts to do by myself to help keep me sane since I don't have friends or family out here. I think I started with woodworking first but stopped once I realized I needed hand tools instead of power tools because I'm in an apartment and I don't want my neighbors to hate me but I found out the proper tools I needed were quite expensive so I got a Cricut instead haha... I then taught myself Photoshop to make my own SVGs for Cricut vinyl etc. And now I'm getting into epoxy resin stuff so that's why I'm here because I don't understand what Mod Podge is exactly and I'm always up for learning 🙂
    Thank you for answering!

      Sounds like you've got quite an operation going in your apartment! That's awesome! I've got a few resin posts on the blog because there is now a Mod Podge Resin. But the original formulas that I address in this post are awesome too . Thank you for watching!!

    Southern Coastal Oregon here - nice informative presentation full of solid good tips and encouragement. I've been working with Mod Podge for years. A fun, satisfying, versatile craft product. I've used it on rocks, canvass, wood, and paper. And now, seeing your presentation, I'm going to check out fabric projects, for a change of pace. You have an authentic, practical vibe about you that's refreshing - like you said, we're all constantly learning and exploring so thanks for the video.

    I have a tip of beigneers and k wished someone told me about it earlier but to reactivate modpodge All you need to do is heat up some water as hot as you can get it, and use a sponge to apply it to the fabric or paper on the canvas. Leave it to sit for several minutes as it reactivates the Mod Podge

    It's so funny. We didn't live in a suburb city or near one so we didn't have access to mod podge here in the southeast rural areas in the late 60s, so we used Elmer's glue. It worked fine for us but we had nothing to compare it to then. By the time the fad ended in the early to mid 70s here, the fad faded. Glad to see this had reentered into crafts! And now we use mod podge... Great product!

    Hey thanks for the information. I was wondering how mod podge would work with letters written in pencil or ink. I am trying to adhere letters I received to a canvas, and there are two parts of the project that I was wondering if I could use mod podge for (adhering the letters to the canvas and then sealing over them) I was wondering particularly with sealing over them if the mod podge would possibly cause the ink in the letters to bleed or somehow damage the paper itself.

      Yes you can tint it with acrylic paint, and it works really well with food coloring: modpodgerocksblog.com/colored-mason-jars/
      Yes, it should be waterbased. Mod Podge is so then they will mix together well!

    Hi there! I just stumbled upon your video and have a question. If I don’t have enough mod podge, could I use just elmers glue for the base (under my decoupage) and then just use the mod podge over the top? My project is I’m redoing an old dresser. I’ve sanded all the varnish off, so basically I’m working over bare wood on top of the drawers. OR….should I just buy more mod podge. I’m new to the mod podge medium. Thank you!

    Hi I stumbled upon your video which I found very helpful thank you. Can I ask a question. I’ve recently started acrylic dot painting and I’ve just completed some mdf coasters. My concern was what to use to coat them and keep them heat proof. Some one suggested mod podge dishwasher safe. Would you agree this would work to coat them to keep them heat proof to with stand hot cups etc. TIA

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  2 роки тому +1

      None of the Mod Podges are heat proof. You'll need something extra on top. Most people use an Engine Enamel from VHT which you can get at a hardware or auto parts store.

    Dear Amy, I like your video very very interesting. I understand this is your first video, so I am going to point out where u may want to improve your videos. (1) Your audio system, when your husband speaks, the audio is very clear and loud which is good, when you speak there is big hall eco and you sound far away, I suggest you put another microphone on your t-shirt. (2) Hold the product bottle longer so as I may be able to read the product information. Focusing is another issue. You have one bottle very clear and in focus, while the others bottles seem to be out of focus. (3) Overall the video was very good. I liked the way you explained things. I will continue to watch out for any future videos. I am new at arts & crafts and I am sure I could learn a lot from you. Thank you for sharing your arts and crafts knowledge. I am watching from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

    Hi. I made a growth chart on a painted wooden board with printable vinyl stickers, and after one year, the stickers are curling away from the board. I tried to seal with Mod Podge, and the sticker ink bled away. Is there a resolution to this issue to save the work created?

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  3 роки тому

      Hello! It sounds like the quality of the printable vinyl wasn't very good. The reason it bled was because it must've been inkjet . . . which is water soluble and Mod Podge is a waterbased product. I would replace the stickers with laserjet printed or regular cut out adhesive vinyl. You can Mod Podge over laserjet printed. But honestly I don't recommend Mod Podge with vinyl typically. Vinyl should be strong enough to last on its own unless it's not very good vinyl.

    Hello. From Long Island, NY here. Thank you so much for your video. Ive always wanted to decoupage but never endeavored mostly due to lack of time. But I am home recovering from surgery and just moved last year and there are lots of projects I‘ve been itching to do around my home. I have this vintage doorbell plastic case in my foyer that I’ve been wanting to revamp. And so I used mod podge today to glue on this beautiful French peacock tissue paper to cover. It’s drying now. But not sure if I can paint over the tissue with the mod podge to seal. Will the white color dry to clear? will continue to watch the video for the answer.

      You can definitely paint over the tissue with Mod Podge and it will dry clear! You probably saw that in the video. Thank you for watching!

    Hello. I wanted to know if I can use mod podge matte over rhinestones and crystals? Or will it take away the shine from the crystals?

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  2 роки тому

      Most of the formulas will take the shine away a bit - Super Gloss is your best bet!

    can mod dodge be use on a custom painted door rug? I am afraid that the rug may get effected by people walking on it all day or the weather outside. I am based in florida and I wanted to make a custom painted door rug/mat for my niece but im afraid it wont last outside too long . Do you think mod lodge would be a good solution to constant wear an tear on the rug to keep the art in tacked?

      Hi Matt! Since you aren't decoupaging anything, I would look for a very durable clear sealer. Maybe even something marine related given that you are in Florida. Hit the hardware or even the boat store.

    You are very professional. Thank you very much. I like to know if I can apply mod podge over a picture and then put on epoxy resin once it dries out. Thank you. Llewellyn

    Hi. Thank you for a very informative video. Can I use the Matte Mod Podge then the glossy one on top of it? I'm doing a photo onto wood project. Thanks. All the best to you. Great job.

    I'm wanting to glue cellophane to a painted acrylic canvas to create iridescent fairy wings. Could I use mod podge for this? Which formula would you recommend?

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  2 роки тому +1

      You could use any clear drying glue for this! Don't use too much of any adhesive - use a very thin layer. If you used Mod Podge, the gloss would be fine.

    I would like to transfer an image onto a concrete stepping stone for a garden. Could you please explain what to use and how to use it. Thx

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  2 роки тому

      Hi Kim! I'm not sure exactly what you could use, but it would have to be way more intense than an acrylic product. Mod Podge or other mediums like this wouldn't work for a stepping stone that would get constant foot traffic as well as have to sustain the elements. There are tutorials that show how to transfer photos to rocks with MP, but I wouldn't walk on them.

    Not sure if this was mentioned or not. I wanted to know what’s the easiest way to coat cardstock with mod podge? I printed a few photos and wanted to add a slight gloss but the image keeps bleeding. Any suggestions? Im using 110 cardstock

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  Рік тому

      Hi Tee! The image is probably bleeding because of the inkjet you're using. This should help - same instructions: modpodgerocksblog.com/decoupage-onto-wood/

    I make things with whiskey and wine bottle and sometimes I want the labels to stay on. For example if I make a glass. Will mod podge be good for that? If it is should I take the labels off first then put back on or is it good to just leave them on and mog podge over them?

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  3 роки тому

      Hi Troy! Yes, I would take the labels off, clean the bottles, then Mod Podge them back on. Honestly this really isn't decoupage so you COULD use a spray adhesive. Just presenting all the options. :)

    I need to seal labels on plastic parts after I print part information on them. Was thinking about mod lodge acrylic spray sealer. Are you familiar with how many coats I'll probably need to use? And how long it takes to cure between coats?

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  3 роки тому

      Hi Shauna! I'm not sure that the clear acrylic sealer would be the best for this; however, I've never tried it like you're doing. I'd use three coats, let dry 30 minutes between coats. You could at least give it a go!

    • @shaunatate7740
      @shaunatate7740 3 роки тому

      @@ModPodgeRocks I tried. Didn't work. Tried a few different products. And it was either fast drying but didn't leave a visible lacquered sealed look without many coats. Or had the results I'm looking for but took forever to dry. So I'll probably just settle for vinyl, ripproof labels (pricier), and use a laser printer. Thanks for your help.

      Hi Laura! If you're using napkins, I recommend a stiff stencil brush to help you push down/apply in the grooves. They obviously come in a variety of sizes and you can tap down.

    I would like to mount a 68 x 42" piece of fabric to a piece of styrofoam insulation for a wall hanging. Styrofoam is covered with a foil. I bought Fabric Mod Podge, but was that the right choice? Your recommendation please.

    • @ModPodgeRocks
      @ModPodgeRocks  3 роки тому

      Hi Carol! If it's just a wall hanging, you can use any Mod Podge formula - I'd stick with the Gloss, Matte, or Satin based on the finish you like. I mean you can use the Fabric formula . . . but it's really made for attaching fabric to fabric so it can be washed.
