    Holy fuck, the amount of miss information on thermal paste application is just crazy. This guy did a good job! but your worst nightmare is not applying enough paste. Use moderate amounts of paste because the surface of cpu dies and heat sinks are never perfect. If you are using conductive paste then 80% coverage is fine to avoid spillage on the board.
    Only people who over clock to the electrical and physical limit of the cpu need to worry about thickness of thermal paste. Usually these people lap or remove the die plate to achieve better results. If you are doing this then you worry about thickness.
    All Heatsink clamps have a torque/screw limiter/washer to prevent pressing all the paste away.
    You can build an engine and it could be for a lawnmower, your moms car, a ferrari or an F1 car. Its up to you to determine the work required. Not all computers are F1 cars. Most of them are your moms car.

    • @Denofu
      @Denofu 4 роки тому +4

      Sebastian Pacheco I recommend you take the motherboard out of the case. It's more of a pain in the ass installing it in the case, and you have the risk of cracking your motherboard in the case while screwing in the aio.

    • @pach777
      @pach777 4 роки тому +2

      Well I just inatalled my AIO and I have to say it was easier with the MoBo on, since you need to route the wiring for lights and fans while you are installing the pump on the radiator. There is no actual risk of cracking the MoBo on a M4 socket since you screw the pump to the bracket that comes with the board and it stands above the board itself so there is no mechanical load on the pcb.

      Sure, just make sure that your motherboard supports the new CPU you want to upgrade to. You can check compatability pretty easy by just googling your motherboard and the cpu u wanna use. Since you say your current cpu isn't the best (aka an old AMD chip), I wouldn't expect the motherboard to support new AMD chips. Usually they only support 2-3 generations of chips

    • @Real_MisterSir
      @Real_MisterSir 2 роки тому +1

      Sounds like either the cooling liquid hasn't been sufficiently filled up (or the pump isn't running etc), or someone forgot to remove a plastic seal before installing the cooler. 96C is bad with standard air cooling under heavy loads, let alone water cooling at startup. If you hit well above 90 just on idle, it means you probably never get more than half the CPU performance that it has available since it'll be throttling instantly and cut down on its frequency significantly to avoid critical cpu damage.
      As a benchmark for a standard build, your idle should be around 50C or preferably lower with watercooling, and stay in the 60-80C range under load. Anything nearing 90 is a major warning sign that something critical has gone wrong.
      Also make sure that you don't have the water tubing/radiator mounted in a way that could create big air gaps and prevent flow through the pump, especially if the pump is in the CPU attachment block.

    In my opinion putting a “goop” of thermal paste in way better than spreading it yourself.. creates alot more air bubbles

    • @FirstDagger
      @FirstDagger 2 роки тому

      I would like to see proof of the mystical air bubbles everybody is talking about. If you don't want "air bubbles" use an X, you get more coverage than a dot.

    • @jasanthmahilrasah692
      @jasanthmahilrasah692 2 роки тому +1

      @@FirstDagger I did an X and a drop in the middle and just spread it myself, this way there are no air bubbles because pressing cooler on it will spread it from below as well and make it ooze out of the sides. If people are worried about air bubbles they happen all the time you can just minimize air bubbles and applying a thicker paste and pressing gpu on it will get rid of bubbles anyways.
