Fantastic video. I've only ever fought the Command once, as the Goldscale Kobolds - they ended up being a complete paper tiger so I've never given them much attention. The Kobolds had a fantastic campaign though, highly advise anyone gives it a play. I don't think I've ever been so invested in the story a mission tree has told as I was with them.

Man this is some good video. You offer some fine quality meld of RP and mechanics explanation which is a unique take on content, thus highly valued (at least by me). My suggestion: Consider Nimscodd into Gnomish Hierarchy, since it's a good faction to highlight the gnomes, artificery - unless there's an expansion planned for that kind of content of which I am unaware at the time of writing this.
I do want to do an artificery spotlight with gnomes in particular. The problem is that I am not sure what to do with the hierarchy that is interesting. They run out of unique things to do quite fast and it’s sad that you can’t harmonize all of the religions in time. :) They’re just too many!
@@pukebeard6406 Start as 'reconquista'-ish fanatic kobold purifiers wanting to rebuild the Hierarchy, push the purges as strong as possible, reunify the Hierarchy while also pushing for colonial story - basically develop a series of Crown colonies in northern Aelentir for Gnomes to live in. Ally Lorent against Gawed at first. Then as Corin faith begins religious conflicts in EoA start becoming tolerant and a safe haven for those fleeing religious conflict. Hamper colonial efforts of big powers in an effort to create a better, safer civilization in the New Old World, recognize the evil of genocide against kobolds, reverse purge policy, try mending diplomatic relations with kobolds in Aelentir. Start intervening in Lorent - Gawed rivalry by maintaining efforts against Lorent. Start developing the Artificer Guid, then decide yourself. Maybe like stand against Witch Kings, or try to dominate free trade, maintain colonial control, or just finish missions and dont roleplay further, showcase Artificery and wrap it up. Or make gnome necromancer lich ruling over tolerant ateists. From the top of my head. Come to think of it Artificery as the equalizer between the magical and the non-magical is underutilized within the wider narrative AFAIK, but I havent reached the Age of Artificery yet so maybe that's why I think so. Do you know how to contact those mod makers? I could brainstorm improvements for narrative experience with mission tree as the main narrative tool for story delivery.
@@pukebeard6406 the gnome MTs are little outdated at this point, right now the undisputed king of artifice is Feiten and their skyships, it's an amazing campaign that I definitely recommend. The other option is orlghelovar (the far west serpentreach hold guaranteed to produce glass), but they struggle to get artifice capacity.
@@pukebeard6406 If you want "Hierarchy but with a bit more interesting stuff to do", consider Reveria. They're descendants of the Reavers (basically vikings), and the Reaver dynasty was spread all across Western Cannor in their raids and conquests, so your mission tree has you jump around Cannor enforcing PUs and whatnot. Makes you feel a lot more invested in Cannorian affairs than the gnomes are. But besides that, they play very similarly to the Hierarchy - they put gnomes in administration, go colonize, learn to artifice, and even steal the dome from the Ynn. Might also be a good chance to show off the Ravelianism mechanics, since they're heavily incentivized to swap over. It's still a very traditional EU4 run, nothing crazy unique like the Command or Feiten, but IMO it's one of the strongest "vanilla-like" playthroughs in the mod (I often recommend it to Anbennar newcomers for that reason, though it's still good for experienced players). And as mentioned, Feiten is good at artifice too, with some unique mechanics and cool flavour. I'd consider saving it for Insyaa release though, part of the MT is left blank to accommodate them in the future.
The timing is pretty funny considering that i posted my Command guide on the subreddit just yesterday. I guess it will still be useful for those that want some quick informations.
In the Vic 3 dev diaries on the Discord the canon outcome is for The Command itself to be practically broken by the Great Insubordination. They make peace with the Dragon Command following fierce fighting that left both sides weakened and allowed them to rip the other 2 rebel commands to pieces. From the looks of it they don't reclaim the lands of the Tiger and Elephant Commands, just leave them as marches or small states to reclaim later.

Just a minor addition, the Kheonism also belongs to the atheistic religion group. Which is completely irrelevant for The Command, but it is a useful bit of knowledge if you play a kheon ruinborn, because gnomes are pretty easy to get along with as a result

I didn't expand beyond Haless I focused on culture and placed the hobgoblins near the Bhuvauri river(I really don't remember the rivers name) and the Wuhyun cultures North Southeast and West lol I demonsterized and formed a modern tolerant hobgoblin state
Your video inspired me to also give The Command a go. Beforehand I thought that it was just really boring blobbing and just drowning your adversaries in men - but I was gravely mistaken! I really like what they did here and how the devs managed to give just straighton conquest so much interesting flavor and sense. And your way of recounting the campaign really connects to my interest in history - even if it is fictional. My own campaign sadly came to a really unsatisfying end, because the mission tree gliched out and eventough I had finished my conquest in the area (I am to lazy to look the name up again) I didn't get the option to choose a new war goal; I waited for 50 years, but nothing happend. I trying to do a World conquest as the command, but it seems I am just to slow (in my best run I got Bhuvauri and most of the eastern regions by 1700 but I am struggling with loans since the disaster of the commands defecting Does anyone has some tips? (Normally I go for a peacedeal with the most provinces while not getting much over 100 OE, and the not co-belligerents get peced out for money and war reps) But after the Shamakad Campaign which was my third, I needed to juggle a coalition of nearly all of Haless..... Ideas (offensive, admin, Diplo, Influence, Inno and Defensive)
I would have gone for espionage early, but even with their AE reduction, coalitions will be a thing. You will have to juggle them. Attack into them or try to get the larger nations out to that they will collapse. Concentrate in one region at a time - e.g. get all of rahen out asap.
The Command really is one of the most immersive and fun nations I’ve ever played, both in Anbennar and EU4 in general. Its biggest flaw, I would say, is the fact that the first run will never go great. You’re not told where to look for modifier showing your current Khorashi level to keep the shamans in check, there is (afaik) no place telling you how many Edicts of Ninun you can keep active at any given time, you’re not told how exactly said edicts work (and their description in the edict menu doesn’t help… Also, it’s extremely arbitrary; sometimes it would convert three high-dev provinces so fast I wasn’t even able to turn the edict off again yet, and sometimes I would leave the edict on in a state with a single convertible province that would take a decade to complete), the primary culture shift (depending on which hobgoblin faction is in power) only happens sometimes when a new leader is chosen, some factions always gain influence while others never do (for me, the Lion Command was often the only one gaining power, meaning I’d always need to spend mil points to get bonuses from another faction instead), and for the Command Rebellion, despite the disaster telling you that it will fire when each Command has at least 400 dev, there is absolutely no way for you to measure that beforehand, short of counting the dev of each individual province under each Command’s jurisdiction. Basically, every first run of the Command, while fun, will be littered with confusion and poorly explained mechanics.
I always have fun with dwarven adventurers in the serpentspine. Otherwise, it really depends on what you are looking for. Do you want to play tall, not tall, do you want complexity, or story, or colonization or what have you.
Would you ever consider doing a video on Corvuria? They're an incredibly fun and interesting nation to play with a unique estate and a start that can be overwhelming for a newer player. And I mean, who doesn't like vampires and masquerades?

I co-op Anbennar quite often with my friend. I think he should play the Command, and I guess I should just play nowhere near him LOL. Most times I play someone in the serpent spine and he’s someone big and blobby.
I did this campaign a while back, but I have to admit, once I'd defeated the Great Insurbordination, passed the ten reforms, and got my hobbs used to the open air, I ended it. With a smile, sure, but EUIV combat isn't really entertaining for me, particularly when there's no real challenge, and that seemed to be all that was left. Absolutely agree on the disaster, but the lack of early transparency seems to have really screwed some people over. I literally had to get a spreadsheet out and manually count numbers up to make sure it triggered asap. Currently doing a Sons of Dameria run. Managed to bypass the Wars of Consolidation with about 7 years to spare (and no confederation wars!), and now it seems to purely be about politics, so I'm really interested to see how well EUIV can handle that.

So in Heless' east there lie three great unifers possible outside of the existing two powers in the Raj and the Xia: One is the Bird Riders and their dreams of dominon Another is the Elven Lancers and their dreams of convocation And finally, is the Command, and their endless walls of steel. All three become increasingly worse as time goes one, even the Sunrise Convocation goes from an ideal into hegemonic racists as their empire achieves its total supremacy of the world. All three are equally bad, with the convocation only being considered the best because its the most 'good' of the three bad options. But you are right, the Command are bad guys. They are the hegemonic imperialists who prussian goosestep into fascism almost 300+ years before it was fashionable.
The sunrise empire become a little less human when Hiderion leaves and then dies becoming more of a state that just wants to get it all done and overwith but to call them racist hegemons is a bit of a stretch

I co-op Anbennar quite often with my friend. I think he should play the Command, and I guess I should just play nowhere near him LOL. Most times I play someone in the serpent spine and he’s someone big and blobby.

I did this campaign a while back, but I have to admit, once I'd defeated the Great Insurbordination, passed the ten reforms, and got my hobbs used to the open air, I ended it. With a smile, sure, but EUIV combat isn't really entertaining for me, particularly when there's no real challenge, and that seemed to be all that was left.
Absolutely agree on the disaster, but the lack of early transparency seems to have really screwed some people over. I literally had to get a spreadsheet out and manually count numbers up to make sure it triggered asap.
Currently doing a Sons of Dameria run. Managed to bypass the Wars of Consolidation with about 7 years to spare (and no confederation wars!), and now it seems to purely be about politics, so I'm really interested to see how well EUIV can handle that.

Seems like it, yea. Artificers making equipment out of black damestear that apparently has the property to nullify magic around it. I can imagine there is some brutal conditioning for moments when mages are allowed to let their magics loose on the battlefield. Also thank you. ^_^
So in Heless' east there lie three great unifers possible outside of the existing two powers in the Raj and the Xia:
One is the Bird Riders and their dreams of dominon
Another is the Elven Lancers and their dreams of convocation
And finally, is the Command, and their endless walls of steel.
All three become increasingly worse as time goes one, even the Sunrise Convocation goes from an ideal into hegemonic racists as their empire achieves its total supremacy of the world.
All three are equally bad, with the convocation only being considered the best because its the most 'good' of the three bad options.
But you are right, the Command are bad guys. They are the hegemonic imperialists who prussian goosestep into fascism almost 300+ years before it was fashionable.
But the sunrise empire can barely leave Haless at the end of the mission tree. I never got the hegemonic racist vibes from them, but I could be wrong.
The sunrise empire become a little less human when Hiderion leaves and then dies becoming more of a state that just wants to get it all done and overwith but to call them racist hegemons is a bit of a stretch
