I’ve had severe dysmenorrhea, heavy bleeding( other causes ruled out) for the past 20 years and have always needed mefenamic acid thrice a day for the first three days of my period and nothing helped. Going dairy free( I have oatmilk) and minimal sugar consumption has made a miraculous change - i need a pain killer sometimes just on day 1, I no longer have blood clots in the bleeding. It has been life changing.

    Hi Dr. Anjali!
I have switched to almond milk since the last few months. I have been able to shed a few kilos post the transition. I also feel more energetic now throughout the day. Along with this, as you suggested in the video, I also try to keep a check on consumption of other sources of dairy (paneer, curd etc.).

Didn't touch anything for 6 months now and you won't trust me, i got rid of all my acne there's no body acne nothing. Along with that i started working out regularly and eating only home cooked and healthy meals. Now that i look back dairy is one thing that kept me from having good and healthy skin for all those years.

We have all grown up hearing from our mothers, that milk is the best food, it makes us physically and mentally stronger and that it is the best form of calcium.
But can milk really go wrong. A lot of scientific data is emerging saying that it may actually be counterproductive to PCOS and it's symptoms There is lot of information coming up about ill effects of commercial dairy, A1 Vs A2 milk, skimmed Vs full milk.
Do let me know, how much milk/ dairy you consume, what type of milk you buy, did you know about A1 and A2 milk and if going milkfree helped you.

I don't understand the concept of dairy free, gluten free and what other things these days. Years before us people ate whatever was available and made sure that their activity levels were high throughout the day because they had no other choice. Our lifestyle now is more of sitting at work all day. But I think if we spare some time for a good workout when we can, we don't need these fancy diets. Can plant based milk be preservative free? I don't think so. Going vegan is a choice and a very expensive choice at that. Instead of the fancy veggies that we had no clue about until we saw them at supermarkets it's more healthy to stick to stuff we don't like - lauki, kaddu, palak, gourd, yam, brinjal, there's more. All these things grow around us. This carb free, low fat, high protein diets will only make things artificial. Organic diets and eating clean is the best thing in my opinion.
I'm not very happy with this video. But I definitely love most of the content you have on your channel Dr. Anjali. This seemed more like an advertisement for vegan food. I'm sorry this this sounds rude. But this is my genuine feedback.

Some aren’t as affect, while others have had detrimental changes to their health. Also, consider most didn’t make the connection to their health and their diet.

You are right. Start living the way our older generation people lived. Use locally available food, vegetables and fruits. Cook your own meals. Avoid refined items like refined oil, sugar ,maida, bakery items, packaged food.
There is no need to eat excessive dairy products like cheese, ice cream, cream etc. No requirement to drink one litre of milk daily. Rather ear green leafy vegetables, fruits, Sprouts which give sufficient Calcium. Avoid poultry and meat products too. They also contain artifical hormones
There is no need for almond or soya milk or any vegan food
Two cups of curd or butter milk is enough

Going vegan has helped me with severe acne that I had.I have been able to reduce it to minimum just by removing dairy.I even replaced milk tea with lukewarm water. No dairy at all.
TBH,If u want to remove dairy..don't just 'remove' it instead 'replace' it with something which is healthier option like fruits, nut milk, soaked dry fruits, sprouts. That's a very crucial thing.Secondly, if u can't go without tea & want to replace milk tea with black one,pls don't take it regularly..take it only when u need it,not on the daily basis.

Ma'am, from what I get from your video, to manage PCOS with diet I'd have to shell out the same amount of money as infertility treatments 🤣
The dairy alternatives are not only non traditional they're both time consuming to make and heavy on the pocket 😭
On top of that there's still no RCT or no guidelines milk consumption in people with pcos 😭
Please do suggest some alternatives which are easily available in Indian markets. Kale broccoli Chinese cabbage are usually found in supermarkets of tier 1 cities and even then I'm not sure they're 100 percent pesticide and chemical free 🤣
I'm currently looking to change PCOS by lifestyle modification, but I find that dieticians follow western food habits. They don't give much value to easily available Indian foods. Hence I wanted a gynaecologists view but you have the same opinion 😭
Please do come up with another video with either RCT validated guidelines or at least with suggestions that are close to local cuisines 🙏
    Thank you
I'm an anesthesiologist and hence I would prefer my diet to be validated by guidelines because otherwise I'd probably go with pharmacological treatment 😊

I am not against or pro dairy and we know good and bad about dairy milk
But than we don't have research about long term affects of oat milk almond milk etc .
Almonds contain too much omega 6 which can be inflammatory to many so i honestly think whatever you are consuming and which ever milk consume in morderation .
Almond oat milk soymilk etc from commercial sources also have way more additives than normal milk . I think one can experiment quitting dairy milk for few months and see a genuine difference provided thay follow similar routine .
Plants also contain tannins and phytic acid which can bind to nutrients and prevent absorption .
So before falling into a novel bandwagon experiment yourself .
I myself have pcod and milk or no milk it didn't create a huge difference . I didn't see any difference in my dysmenhhorea at all weather I consumed milk products or not because I always took them from minimal to morderation.

Tbh when I had got to knw That I had pcod
I myself being an immature girl started cutting out all the things whether they were good or bad
I cutted down milk tea which is somehow good
      Then I avoided junk food
But then I also started avoiding Milk (I regretted this thing)
I didn't take any supplement or diet to intake in replace of them due to which I felt light for few months but then after my periods my stress hormones went too high I fall into Vit D deficieny it started showing on my body level my weight went too low in a weak state not on healthy state stress depression due to mental health issues as well they also came due to not taking sufficient amount of milk or proteins which we highly recommend so yeah taking Healthy diet is necessary for body nourishment or else the issue can be worsen

Diet should include fruits (Apple, orange, mousambi custard apple worked for me). Any exercise that you like, don't stretch yourself to any extreme limit. I felt that I suffered from this problem because I was unhappy with my life, lack of sleep and gradually lost interest from everything. I am sorry you made such experience. First of all. PCO IS NOT YOUR FAULT. That's a fact important for you to know. You will find a lot of hi ts that PCOS comes from being overweight, but that's not true. There are actually enough people with normal or just low overweight which have PCOS. Most Doctors will tell you the only option is to loose weight, but that's not true. Of yourse you can, but you fight against a disease which is actually the cause of this weight gain and not a result of it^A" A healthy and balanced lifestyle is the best you can do. It includes healthy food, Sport, but also a stressed reduced life. You have to learn and people around you have to learn, that Stress is toxic for you. Stress trigger the PCOS with all of It's side effects and this not only influence your Chance to become pregnant, it reduced your health when you are old as well. Let's say, PCOS bodies are sensitive to everything which is toxic for you. Physically and mentally^
