I feel your pain... One time I bought a physical copy of a game on launch (can't recall the name but it was an mmo I waited for a long time) that required you to sign up in the website to finish download, the game to log in and then create and login on a gameguard account and some other anti - cheat program they had. And none saved your passwords. I learned valuable lesson though... Never buy a game on launch, always look for reviews first.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened Battlefield Hardline and it took me to my browser. I didn't even know that was a thing. The worst part is that it's for the SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN like fuck off EA. It's actually a great story too, so frustrating.

The language used when they rolled the change back was worded in such a a way that it’s likely not the last time they’re going to try this nonsense, and they also still went ahead and blocked all those countries that would have been effected by the PSN requirement anyway. Not so fixed for them, I’d say. What they actually did was fool everyone into switching their review back to positive, while still screwing over a lot of the potential customer base for the game. If I’m not mistaken, Arrow Head are still fighting with Sony over that.

It's not the act of signing up that's the problem (though it is annoying), it's the fact that access to the game you spent money on is now dependent on an account tied to the publisher's/ a third party server that could be shut down at any time without prior warning and a vague and ever changing TOS that can get you permanently banned for anything you say, do, or post even retroactively.

I think one of the only exceptions to this rule is Larian Studios. You are not required to have an account. It is just so you can have your progress where ever you go.
I bought Riders Republic because I love extreme sports games and once I realized I needed a Ewbisoft account I actually left it on a shelf for over a year before making the account.
I made an account to see what it was like once you get in the game. The world is beautiful, but the fact its an online only game (didnt realize this at time of purchase and took like a week to download over crappy internet) means I will literally never touch it. I thought it had an offline mode when I bought it.

The big thing is every person zooming around the world is a real person which makes the game very lively. I like the idea, just wish there was an offline mode

It's not the act of signing up that's the problem (though it is annoying), it's the fact that access to the game you spent money on is now dependent on an account tied to the publisher's/ a third party server that could be shut down at any time without prior warning and a vague and ever changing TOS that can get you permanently banned for anything you say, do, or post even retroactively.
U need to see the bigger picture here buddy, more games companies gonna use this hole for us consumer not having the actual games

I think one of the only exceptions to this rule is Larian Studios. You are not required to have an account. It is just so you can have your progress where ever you go.

I bought Riders Republic because I love extreme sports games and once I realized I needed a Ewbisoft account I actually left it on a shelf for over a year before making the account.
I made an account to see what it was like once you get in the game.
The world is beautiful, but the fact its an online only game (didnt realize this at time of purchase and took like a week to download over crappy internet) means I will literally never touch it. I thought it had an offline mode when I bought it.

The big thing is every person zooming around the world is a real person which makes the game very lively. I like the idea, just wish there was an offline mode

@@Abrahamusse it's because the games actually playes off of EA play/orgins. Steam is just the DRM used to verify your purchase for the game. They just keep their games on steam because people don't like buying games from other launchers.

@@pb2blindeye512 Because Denuvo is very easily cracked within weeks and this software has been known to tank performances. Look up all the comparisons of games that run with and without Denuvo and you'll see a huge difference

Cause they’re the only ones who have the version without the anticheat (well other than those who buy on GOG). The only reason you would know whether it’s a lie is if you pirated a denuvo game before (or bought on GOG which I doubt).
