Dedicated post offices do not exist in Sweden anymore. They were all closed in the early 2000s and replaced by service points. The service points are run by other companies for Postnord and they are usually in Supermarkets. It is a way for the supermarket to get a bit of extra money to run that service but also get customers to the store instead of some other store that provides the services. You will notice in a small supermarket that the same people will work behind both desks, if there is only one person working at that time they will go between the positions. Technically there are post offices that Potnord runs in Sweden, that "PostNord Företagscenter" so dedicated for business customers and is usually located where postnord logistics center wheciles are stored and their workers pick up letters and parcel to deliver to customers and service points. So you only find them in a bit larger city
Back in the days, even very small villages had heir own post office. It was sort of the hub in every village. Even the telephone exchange (phone switch) with the phone operator were often located in the post office.
Depends a bit on where you are in Sweden I think. In the Gothenburg region most supermarkets have stopped providing postal services because they think PostNord pay them to little. So it's almost only small convenience stores now that do postal services. In some cases there has even been issues in some areas where no one is willing to do it for the money PostNord offers and people have to go to the logistics center to get their packages.
I think in the world of today, being able to live on the Country side with silence and nature is the true quality of life. I grew up in a small village like this and I miss it and plan to get back to it within a few years.
You live in paradise! Nothing boring about your town. The trees with the red berries are called Rowan trees. I love the town's museum with the amazing old houses.
Living in a remote area of Northern Sweden, your village looks huge and almost 200 people living there seems a lot ;-) This is how one's standards shift with time when you live in Sweden 🙂
It can actually be a lot less lonely to live in the countryside or a small place like this, cause it just comes natural to speak with your neighbors or someone you meet when you're out on a walk. In a city everyone just runs around with their nose in their phone all the time and you hardly know your neighbors, at least in apartment blocks. And also in the countryside it's kind of just natural that you help each other out when needed. So it's like when there aren't as many people, there is a stronger sense of community.
I experienced it firsthand and I must agree! What you are saying is totally true, people here are super nice and helpful no matter where you come from !

Hi Werner Gruß dich! It seems like a nice dream yours! I hope it comes true ! People here are generally really nice and even though I don’t speak swedish everyone is really accepting and welcoming!
The houses in Sweden are pained red because of the copper mine in Falun, where mining has been going on since 800 AD. In the 1600’s a bi product of the copper mining started to be used as a pigment in red paint. During the 18th century, when the mine was the largest mine in the world, the production of this red paint started on a large scale. This meant that the red paint Falu rödfärg (Falun red Paint) became very affordable for average people, who usually couldn’t afford painting their houses. Everyone invested in the red paint from Falun and soon this became part of Swedish culture where nearly every house was painted red. The culture with red painted housed also spread to part of Finland as Finland used to be the eastern part of Sweden, until the region was lost to Russia in the war of 1809.
