- I have a bunch of plants, bulbs, tubers and corms that I am overwintering in my garage since they cannot survive outside during the cold winter months. In this garden vlog, I go over some of the plants that should be overwintered in my growing zone, different ways that I can overwinter them, and how I'll check on them during the winter months. Plants can be overwintered bareroot, in a garage, a basement, a greenhouse, cold frame, in the ground, indoors as a potted plants, etc. There are many plants that you can overwinter, including annuals as well as perennials. Some of those plants include mums, tulips and daffodils in pots, ranunculus, anenomes, dichondra silver falls, dusty miller, gladiolus, dahlias, tuberous begonias, peacock orchids, calibrachoa, canna lilies, calla lilies, impatiens, geraniums, begonias, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, etc.

Yes that vinca vine is sold as an annual in my area and I never knew it could possibly winter over until recently. Great info!
Thank you! A friend of mine who lives nearby has had her vinca vine overwinter on the South side of her house. I'm going to give it a try. I love your Lemon Coral sedum. I really need to get myself some early next year. 😊🌻
I'm a serial over-winterer, AND seed-starter (AND plant-buyer if I'm honest). Best of luck with everything!
Thank you! You and I sound like two peas in a pod. I love it! 🫛💞🌸
Great video and tips. I am going to try to overwinter my superbena pink cashmere verbena. I know it's a long shot but they are just so pretty and were so hard to find and expensive. If I can save them it will be great!
So many terrific ideas in this video! 😃
Sometimes Dusty Miller survives the winter for me. I never thought to take cuttings from it to propagate it! I can't wait to try it. I will try to keep some as a bare root plant as well. Worth a shot.
Here's one for you to try: Last fall a friend gave me some potted cuttings from her Tradescantia zebrina (aka zebra plant or inch plant). Of course I had to take cuttings from this Mama plant. Before long I had a little plant factory. They made a fabulous 'spiller' . They grew well in shade or partial shade. I think it would make a great addition to your garden and nursery.
Thanks so much, Maureen! I agree with you that experimenting and trying things with plants is worth a shot. 😊 I love your idea about the Inchplant. I'll have to see if someone is selling a piece on Marketplace for cheap so that I can propagate it and overwinter it in my garage. You're right - it would look super pretty as a spiller in a container pot. Thanks for the idea, my friend! 💖
I have success overwintering my spikes and asparagus fern in our heated shop that we keep around 60 degrees. I give them a little water once a month. No extra lighting. 😊
This is great to know. Thank you for sharing, friend! 😊🌺
Great idea to overwinter spikes!
I bought geraniums from Kroger months back, on clearance, and no idea what kind they are. They look all different leafwise. I'm in 6b MI. How do I bareroot them? I'd love to save them.
Hi there! Here's my video showing my process for overwintering geraniums bareroot. Good luck, friend! ua-cam.com/video/3BbPwntKoIM/v-deo.html 💗🌸
