Saw them at Poole Arts Centre in May '84. First 'proper' gig. Seen them a few times since, but they never beat this.

The Waterboys stepped in as the UK support act for this gig (Poole Arts Centre) 'Tour Du Monde' as Silent Running went off to do a European gig called Euro Rock. This featured a whole load of up coming European bands. TC Matic, Cathago to name a couple. Euro Rock was played on Radio 1 and I used to have a tape of it somewhere. In some ways a shame as Silent Runnings first album, Shades Of Liberty, was fantastic.
How have I not found this before, totally awesome... that Intro to King is White is mesmerising!
I sure wish that I could have gone to this concert! I have family in New Brunswick New Jersey and at the Time I had family in Paramus and in Orangeburg New York, I would have had a place to stay for sure! I just wish that I had it together back then, like I do now. I was in the Art Business and I even picked up some Art in Hackensack New Jersey, but that was in 1981. I really had a good working relationship with a group of people who were in the Art business on the East Coast. I was in the Midwest. I live in Cincinnati, but There's plenty of opportunities in Columbus and Dayton Ohio, Indianapolis Indiana, Louisville and Lexington Kentucky. I sold Art in all those Cities. I just wish that I took the time to see one of my Favorite all Time Bands! These guys are the best. I still listen to these songs over and over again. The versions in this concert are Awesome! Thank You for sharing!

Interesting to hear how the songs evolved during the tour. I have an old cassette hidden away somewhere of the first or second date of the sparkle tour here in Dublin from February '84. By the time of this gig the band is so much tighter, but also looser at the same time, if that makes sense.
That makes perfect sense. The energy of these performances is sublime. Mel is literally on fire. The whole band a symbiotic entity. Trancedent.
