Thank you sooo much for this! We live in Mobile, AL and for the first time in 44 years, planted a garden. It was the first time since our girls were little. Some items did well, our squash, cucumbers, and a few other items was wiped out by the vine borer. Our onions didn't do much, and we decided to leave them for now. Your ammonium nitrate tip was a timely one. 😮
Girl, I got collard greens to grow that I haven't put in the ground yet but I didn't know I could put out cauliflower and broccoli here in the south. Thank you for all your research and sharing with us! My family loves kale chips! I'll have to find me some kale seed now! God bless you, Hun!
Since moving to Florida, I buy a lot of seeds from Hoss. They know good seeds for the South. That's where I found cowhorn okra. It stays tender even when they get pretty long. 👍
My husband won't eat greens at all so I dehydrate them and turn them into flakes of mixed varieties of kale, collards, mustard, bok choy, arugula, etc. and then I sprinkle them in food that I am cooking so it just looks like parsley to him ha ha I also frozen it and just sliced it up very very thin, tiny little pieces and added it to meals. I think I didn't care for is just the clumps of green, and since he doesn't really care for it, he didn't really want to chew it. Now he knows that I used the dehydrated flakes. He never complains, but still gets the benefits.

Oh those stinking vine borers! Even with all the pests, gardening is so worth it. ❤️

Ooh! Writing that down for next year. ✍️
New to gardening. Thank you for sharing your guide. I know I will benefit from it. Again thank you.
My pleasure! Welcome to the gardening world. ❤️ 🌱

I do the same thing. I try to keep 2 quart jars of greens powder on hand at all times for sneaking into things. 😂
Love ALL this!!❤❤ What brand was the mustard greens?
🙂❤️ I think the mustard greens were from a local co-op, so not a specific brand.
What company did you get the golden acre cabbage and dwarf kale? Taking notes! Our soil is very clay forward too.
The cabbage is from Baker Creek, and the dwarf kale is just packs from the Dollar Tree, surprisingly!
