  • Hello friends, in today's video i have shown how to make a simple automatic battery charger circuit with auto cut-off facility. You can use it for any battery. You have to just set the threshold voltage as per your battery.
    Normally the relay is OFF and battery charged but when battery voltage increases to the selected voltage the relay energized by the transistor which now disconnect the battery from the charger thus it prevents from over charging.
    Parts list:-
    12V relay
    BC547 or any transistor
    1K resistor
    3.3K resistor
    Red led (To indicate charge complete)
    Green led (To indicate charging)
    10K preset
    4 diode
    1000 uf capacitor
    1 Step-down transformer as per your battery voltage

    Hello, what needs to be updated in your circuit, if I want use it for batteries in series (300mA with 195VDC in total)?

    It's really working,but for nice working the 3.3k resistance have to change (reduce),and adjust the preset very carefully,Otherwise the circuit will not work.

    Thank you so much, this is what i was looking for to install in my motorcycle for the anti theft alarm system(i just changed the 9 volt battery with this), everything is working properly except one thing, when i cut off the input (which might happen if the motorcycle battery go down) the relay start giving a laod buzzz sound, i need help please.

    Before connecting the out put to the battery the red indicator was on when you switch on power,but immediately you connect the battery green led was on. please could you explain why this happens?

    Bonjour monsieur. dans plusieurs vidéos, j'ai vu qu'on ne mettait pas toujours la même valeur de la résistance qui va du relais à la résistance variable. Dans votre vidéo, vous mettez une résistance de 3,3 Kilos ohms et dans dans les autres vidéos, ils mettent 15 kilos ohms ou voire 10 kilos ohms pour la même valeur de la résistance variable. Est ce que la valeur de cette fameuse résistance a une importance? Merci de me répondre.

    a better way to do this would be to build an op amp comparator with hysteresis. That way you can trigger the charger to charge the battery once it drops to a certain voltage

    You should add bc 547 transistor in your list. The transformer can be above 12 v to 24 v

    if the battery is plugged in when it has 50% charge will this still stop the battery from charging when it hits 100% or will it keep going until enough power has gone to the battery to charge the battery from 0% to 100%? if u could let me know id really appreciate it

    Great project but picture of the schematic will help diyers better understand the concept . recommended to install a safety reverse diode across the relay coil to prevent recoil hi voltage from damaging parts ..

    When you adjust to 14 volt. How do you connect the wire.. and from which power source the 14 Volt comes. Its not appear in your video...

      12 volt transformer will give 14v because bridge rectifier makes the transformer voltage 1.21 times.. it's the property of bridge rectifier

    I have replicated this circuit and still no luck. I get the red LED on for battery charging but no matter what resistance I set on the variable resistor I can not get the relay to switch from NC to NO. PLEASE HELP, I AM GOING CRAZY trying to make this work.

      also replace transistor, bc547 can handle only upto 3A current use a bigger power amplifier type 2n3055 or 2sc5200 transistor for 10A Transformer Circuit
