But at the same time, although Kishore Kumar was not classically trained, he more than made for that shortcoming, if at all, you call it shortcoming with his other songs of all the moods, for all the seasons, for all the reasons be it happy/sad/party/philosophical, to some extent even classical...May be that is why, HE is Loved even now....At the same time, I am not trying to undermine other greats like Mukesh, MR, MD, etc.

Without Manna De, Bengali and Indian music is utterly incomplete. I have personally attended his programme in Calcutta Town Hall when my daughter was 6 years. Bengali has died with him. Serious. No record is twice sold after him.
I am an ardent fan of the Great Manna Dey Sahab. So many memorable songs!! Very sad to know that he is no more. He is the last of those legendary Hindi film singers. He belongs to the generation of the Singers Talat mehmood, Rafi Sahab and Kishore Kumar and Hemant Kumar. Hats off to all these singers.
