Darryl Morris it's too bad didn't get to know about his wife and he's two kids so they were son scene then Charmed was cut and by the way the only black witch that word is included when she was killed by her own black- cat so that was messed up but the thing is Charmed they was some inclusion and it was diverse in one point but majority the cast was all white it does not mean that the characters would not relatable it was just because the characters it was mostly about female empowerment three women that bonded that were related or as you said white girl magic but it was mostly about Womanhood and then the witch at the same time so Charmed they never add some skin color as an issue it was about being in love and being in a relationship with some people or family issues so this is why everybody love Charmed
And I advise you to watch Wicked City it's a Black Entertainment channel that talks about black urban witches so you're going to like it it talks about them being black witches and also you see two black women in the same gender relationship they didn't talk about the sexuality talks about their personality and their beliefs about religion and witchcraft I'm sure you're going to like it Wicked City it's a good original adaptation in Black Entertainment you're going to like the characters and they also would relate to you
I must say in Charmed it was all about ups and downs and issues not just about magic but family situation for example when people deal with real-life things
i think if actors of colour want representation they should divest and at least date non blk actors .Too many entertainers stay loyal to men that don't have any tangibles for them .In that way of jobs ,contracts, loans ,housing ,hospital beds, school which is another conversation . in that way they are only going to get non speaking roles or play baddies and villians simply because the men should be feeding and minding their own,,,but thats how the adults look at it
The problem with these remakes is that there was a certain type of magic these late 90s/early 00s WB shows had that can’t be recreated. These shows worked for that time period of television in a way that they just don’t work now unless you disregard the entire formula and start fresh. But taking the old formula, adding the society issues of the 2020s and mixing all of it in a Petri dish just to make ratings ruins everything.
That's exactly it! I think it could've worked if they had good writing. I feel like they rebooted it just to do it and it definitely showed🥴
Aaron Spelling was problematic in many ways, but he had gift for creating television that is hard to replicate.
I loved it when Piper got her new powers of exploding things. She constantly was trying to freeze things or vise versa and doing the opposite. 😂.
The original Charmed is one of my favorite shows of all time, so when I heard they were making this reboot and had nothing to do with the previous cast, I refused to watch it. Especially because I heard they're all college students and when I loved about the original was that they were finished with college and trying to find their places in the world to navigate through life in their adulthood. Piper wanted a family and kids first. Prue was practically a mother to the sisters and had to take on most of the financial burden after Grams died. Phoebe was the only one lacking maturity in the beginning, but they were all still mentally in a different place than college kids. I can watch plenty of other CW shows if I want to see people in that age group. And I have actually... Vampire diaries, Riverdale, the 100 and I quit them all for a reason. Some shows can have teens/young adults characters as the stars and do it well, but I don't end up liking the way they're done on CW.
Yeah, I didn't even get into how annoying it was that they aged them down. Mostly because it greatly affected their dynamic. Being full adults living together is just a different family dynamic. But also, let's be real, for me, it made their love lives less interesting, and the magic...whew, it was always taking this back seat because when you're younger, everything matters more than family because I know when I was young, I was self absorbed. Idk, I just wish they had taken this more seriously.

unpopular opinion but am i the only one who doesn’t understand the whole superhero movie reboot-thing? like, we all know Spiderman’s story…do we really need a new actor playing the same role and storyline every 5 years?!

Bless you, for watching all 4 seasons. I couldn't even finish season 2. It shouldn't have even started for all the reasons you said. I felt like it had no direction. I was all over the place with elements of the first Charmed.
I eventually finished it, but when they added Kaley Cuoco, I was kind of over it, but still had to see how it ended.
@@TheAudraReins I stopped watching when Piper's second baby was born but finished watching it years later. The last few seasons were not the best. The series finale felt lackluster.

I watched OG Charmed (mostly on replay) and enjoyed it, it definitely hit the right spot of girl power that was big at the time it was out. I heard they were remaking but was waiting to see how it went.....and I didn't realize it went on for 4 seasons before ending lol! I don't think I'll bother, I think I've picked up enough based on your discussion and the comments that I'm good.
Oh wow, they even kept in the dead sister thing?!?! That was only included in original because Shannon Doherty left, so they wrote it into the story of why she was gone 🤣.
It's difficult to make it "innocent of the week" when they're all stuck in high school. Whose idea was it to make it teenagers? What the hell? Piper worked at a restaurant, which did catering for different places in town and then the club, which people and demons came TO. Prue worked in an auction house which had a LOT of old, creepy items pass through her hands, and people who owned them or wanted to get rid of them. And Phoebe was unemployed but an adult, who was all over the place in town and then did college and then worked at a busy newspaper. Paige had social work and then temp jobs. So they met a lot of people and therefore met innocents. All them teenagers aren't gonna go and see shit! All that's gonna be forced.

I will always love the OG Charmed, I'm on my 4th rewatch and it's just something about it that keeps me coming back. The reboot didn't have that same "charm" and the cast doesn't have the same chemistry... Chemistry is the biggest reason why Harry and Macy just doesn't work the same way Leo and Piper did, it seemed like the show was just following the OG beat for beat when Macy worked way better with Galvin. Even when they gain another whitelighter in Jordan and Harry is just still around for some reason...Also how diverse the show claimed to be but when it came time to reconstitute the power of three they just bypassed their trans cousin who gained abilities who could have taken Macy's spot, to create an entirely new character with a convoluted backstory.
The one thing that worked is how the actress for the oldest sister leaves the show after the 3rd season...
They even tried to do the Phoebe and Cole love story. The show was a waste of time. Towards the end of O.G Charmed I got bored, but it was still loads better then what this new version gave us.

I enjoy this new series your doing. I loved Charmed (the original), I always wanted to be Piper, but enjoyed all of them all. The whole Shannon thing never really bothered me. I watched her on Beverly Hills 90210. I watched one episode of the new Charmed and was like no I just can't get into this.
Objectively, the OG Charmed wasn't perfect either! But I have a warts and all love of Charmed!
Prue for me..In every season they the Producers and writers were concerned about being cancelled if you watched Joey Flacko video .
I never really got into the original charmed. I watched the first two seasons on the reboot. I was excited to see that they were PRican, but then…I was like meh.. like someone stated below, I lost interest after the two season. I found the characters annoying as well. You have great insight into what went wrong and how it was half-assed and forgettable. Maybe I’ll watch the original, along with buffy. I have been craving buffy recently. That show was my jam back in the day.
omfg! OG Charmed is LIT. I think you'll really like it, especially when Paige arrives. But this one...this one left SO MUCH to be desired. Every time they had an opportunity to make it interesting they just didn't and I hated that. Buffy though...that's on my list!

I think, when done properly, remakes/reboots can be great! But I think, currently, most are done with the intention of "updating the narrative" and rather than be enjoyable, they are aggressively trying to be modern which makes them hard to watch.

I watched the original Charmed religiously. And i followed the reboot closely too. This reboot was awful. It really got the worst of the CW stereotype. Everyone is sooo melodramatic. Every episode throws a wrench into everyones relationship and no one is secure. It seemed like most of the conflicts in the reboot was solved by the sisters “opening up to each other” and “sharing their secret feelings” and not actually learning about magic.
I loved the original Charmed, couldn't get into the new one. If you like police procedurals, 9-1-1 Lone Star does diversity really well. They hired diverse actors and any "diversity" is just part of the character, not the only thing we know about them.

I love the original 911, Angela Bassett is my fave. But I won't watch 911 Lone Star bc of Rob Lowe's predatory s*xual behavior with teenage girls when he was well into his adulthood.

I really wanted to love it, I really did, but I just couldn’t get into it. There were no characters that I truly loved and could really get behind, and I don’t think there was enough chemistry between the sisters and you never really saw what consequences the magic and demon fighting had on their day to day lives.

The basic problem was it being a remake of an old idea. The other being that the OG hadn't long finished. One of the problems was the usage of Melinda Warren, then Ishta, Inara and Ishani. This asked more questions than it answered. Introducing the original precursor, then 3 other Charmed Ones who were before her. In the OG we had Paige who was biologically related, whereas Kaela had no blood ties apart from stem cells from Macy. This asked more questions than it answered. Only one of the actresses was Latina the other was Indigenous Canadian and Afro Caribbean. Had the new Charmed served as a sequel It probably would have worked.🎉

I love the original Charmed series so much that I have the complete box set that comes inside the Book of Shadows. I watched the first few episodes of the new Charmed before regretting I wasted my time by even bothering.
As a fellow owner of the box set, were you pissed they didn’t give us the original music??? Like, they owned a club with top tier bands and they didn’t give us the music!!!
Also, Baby Wyatt manifests the dragon and it’s actually born in the next episode WTF??? There are way too many out of order episodes.
As a Latino/white gay male who is white passing I had so many issues with this charmed. I adored the OG but watched the reboot in hopes. They dropped the ball hard because everything seemed forced and didn’t give us anything other than this is what it is for latin-X I was excited to see what could have been shown for my Latinx culture but the only thing was shown was speaking Spanish which made me eye roll. The only one with a Latin name was their mother who apparently didn’t care enough to give her daughters names to carry anything on of her or their cultures. I hated it.
OK --- I loved the O.G. Charmed (1998 - 2006) I haven't even watched one episode of the reboot. I was hoping to hear that the original actresses were going to be in there or like you stated Audra an alternative universe situation. I like this video/topic. It was awesome.

One if things that bothers me about this narrative is that they're not Latino and never claimed to be this was a online thing that never was put out by anyone involve... Also they make a point to have Spanish spells because the mother is Puerto Rican and made all her spells Spanish... Did you watch the show?

I liked the first Charmed and was very hopeful and interested in seeing what they did with the new one... but after the first episode, I was OUT and just couldn't bring myself to even watch the second episode. It just turned me off completely because it immediately felt like it had no substance. :(
It was kind of heart breaking. I kept hoping it works get better, but it just... didn't😔
How cool would it have been if they did an alternate universe version where Prue never died and we see how the story was suppose to progress?? OR if they wanted diversity why not have the OG sister's kids marry/have kids with POCs? like there's soo many opportunities to do a good Charmed reboot b/c the original world & lore of Charmed was so juicy. Or if you want to distance yourself from the original so bad than do a completely different show about witches

Mel was hard to even deal with, I'm pro women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, basically just treat everyone like a human. But Mel beats you in the face and mellows out with time, but thatc1st episode was awful.
The most underrated relationship was Jordan and Maggie. It's like they had no clue what to do with them.
They threw Macey and Harry together just because they wanted to. There was no real build up like with Piper and Leo.
All I'd like to see is imagination and good storytelling. 100% agree that representing minorities is positive, but needs to be respectful to a fully realized character.
I remember they had to Demons that killed a black cop so black characters in Charmed they were not really recognizable Darryl Morris he was a backup cop who always protected the sisters of course as always to protect their secret identity but I am not sure that we got to know much about him instead of him a backup cop we should know what's his backstory Darryl Morris so there was some inclusion by the way in the original Charmed TV series for example that was a block which she was melanated she had curly hair same time it was frizzy hair but she got killed by her own cats of course her own black Cat 😼 and I remember when Prue she protected a little black kid from the criminals so Charmed in certain way that was some inclusions but majority it was why cast but it doesn't mean that the sisters were not related let's just say it was sort of like white girl magic but not just white girl magic but female empowerment and masculine empowerment somehow and it was also about family not only about Magic
I advise you to watch Wicked City it came out in 2022 it's a TV series about Urban black witches and also has characters that are in the same gender relationship so you should watch that I recommend you to watch it you're going to like it

I just recently got into the reboot charmed and just to say it was trash!! After season 1 it went downhill!! Storyline went completely out the window , and it was very confusing and all over the place
The Reboot was insanely rushed in the 1st season! I felt like I was watching 12 different seasons in each episode! it was exhausting! Seasons 2-4 were trash! Especially Abigale Caine! She was an annoying white women who hogged screen time from the characters we started watching!
Prue was also my favourite. Page was my least favourite.

I watched the original feel like I dropped off after paige showed up. I just lost interest. I did enjoy piper and leo's relationship. Haven't watched the reboot yet.
I actually watched all 4 seasons. Was it great no. But enjoyed many moments. About their Trans cousin they only mentioned it briefly when first introduced. I don't remember they mentioning it again. Then she focused on magic then going away to college
It was more that her getting her magic was linked so directly to her being trans...but not just her, other characters in the show that briefly appeared that were non binary/ non gender conforming that they made a big deal out of. I feel like these types of storylines are created not for the people affected, but to change the minds of bigots, but you're not going to change their minds by hitting them over the head. Just let these folks be in the show without it being a teaching lesson.

I was done with redo 15 minutes into the first episode when tough girl sister hit a man and got away with it.
I'm trans, and here's my issue, to have an episode dedicated to trans difficulties can only work if the character is a main protagonist or a recurring, important secondary character, and it can't happen immediately, the audience needs to warm up to the character, and maybe little lines like "you're not going with the guy from the other night?" "No, he can't seem to see past the surface, amd is too afraid to be seen with a strong, gorgeous person as myself" "oh, well his loss" and then the convo moves onto something else
fyi if you can complain about them not representing Puerto Rican culture while using words like Latin which don't exist in our language. Its Latino and Latina.
At the time, Latin X was being tossed around as the "new" term for Latino, i settled on Latin in an effort to not offend.
