Okay, I'm actually surprised to learn Helen Sadler was voicing Rey in this game. I wasn't particularly keen on her in the role in the Lego Star Wars Holiday Special, but in this game, she's spot-on as a Daisy Ridley impersonation! Don't personally mind Dark Rey; as such a minor character, the fact she has a lower, goofier voice than in the film doesn't really matter to me. Frankly, given how minor the character is, the fact they gave her a voice at all is a surprise, but a welcome one; I kinda feel the goofier voice fits the silly humor of the game. As for Matthew Wood as Kylo Ren, yeah, he generally doesn't sound right when he has the helmet off, like at all, but the lines that have the helmet modulate the voice actually sound pretty good in my opinion, so its a bit of a trade off. And Tom Kane as Qui-Gon... Considering what's happened, and that Kane has had to step down from voice acting, I don't want to be hard on the guy, but he was not the right choice for that character. One other that was so-so for me, was David Menkin as Luke. Fun fact, Helen Sadler was going to voice Rey in Star Wars Battlefront 2 and they even managed to do her lines for the alpha version of the game, but she got replaced when the studio managed to have Daisy Ridley on board. She was also gonna voice Captain Phasma as well, but the same thing happened with Gwendoline Christie. Helen also voiced Jyn Erso in Star Wars Battlefront (2015) and did a great job as her!
Does it really matter though if some characters don't sound like their counterparts? This isn't something that's gonna keep you from sleeping at night so it's fine.
During the first level of episode 3 General Grievous sounded like a completely different person, while in the cutscene he sounds really good, same for level 2 of episode 3 and free roam, but he also sounds bad during his death scene, that’s very weird and I think it should be an honourable mention
I think dark Rey herself is kind of a joke. Not in a bad way, but like isn’t meant to be taken all that seriously, such as by the line “that’s right I’m evil now”
@@classic_jam Especially those fucking smuggler missions. Those zones were clearly not playtested, otherwise they would actually have completed, collisable textures.
@@matthewcooke117 There is definitely problems with the game but from what I've played, the positives outweigh the negatives and the game is really fun.
@@classic_jam Exactly. The game is enjoyable from what I've played but definitely has some issues. The voice acting though isn't really a problem. It's a Lego game and people are expecting God tier voice acting. For me, the voice acting was better than expected!
Why didn't they just use archive recordings? If they want new lines, most of the actors are still alive. I at least want Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, James Earl Jones, Ian McDiarmid, Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, and Samuel L Jackson.
But those actors have other things they're busy with, though I do agree with you, especially since the Force Awakens had all the actors from the movie! They could have at least used archive recordings for the DLC characters...
I feel that Daniel Logan nailed it. He’s voicing Boba Fett like he grew up to play the character twenty years later. As for Matthew Wood, I can understand that he’s trying to make Ben sound like his dad but I often ended up bursting into side-aching laughter during adaptations of scenes that made me emotional while watching the movies.
@@DIsturbios1234 Did you know? I don’t give a crap. I will enjoy whatever I please to. I don’t fault you at all for disliking the sequels but I will not agree with you.
If a character has an established voice and you're trying to mimic it, there's no excuse Especially because LEGO literally had all the perfect actors from Clone Wars and other VA material, like you have Bradley Dee Baker who's the perfect Fett voice and yet you give Boba a voice that makes him seem even dumber than he was in Episode 6.
Yeah man I think the comments general consensus kinda point to the fact most people don’t seem to mind too much. Game still seems fun and the right notes are still hit. A pretty solid cast overall.
I’m actually surprised that Han Solo wasn’t mentioned. It almost sounds nothing like him in the movies. There are only a few lines that sound a tiny bit like him but that’s it.
the only voice on this list that actually sucks is definitely Kylo’s. it just doesn’t even remotely sound like him. everyone else at least does a good job of fitting their appearance. not to mention, your take on Sam Witwer’s Palpatine is an absolute miss. he sounds perfect as the emperor, even in that interaction with Yoda, and in fact... the only time his voice didn’t seem completely fitting was in one line in Episode I as Chancellor. besides that, absolutely pristine.
If you hate it that much, mod the damn game. I did it with the TF2 characters in Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed on Steam, you can do it with this.
we gonna omit the fact that daniel logan reprised his role in this game as boba specifically as a creative decision, instead of having dee bradley baker voice him?
Checking the dislikes doesn’t matter anymore, if you see the ratio of the view count and the likes are WAY different, then you get if a video is well received or not. A liked video usually has one like for every ten views
You lost me at the first entry because you clearly didn’t do your research. Boba isn’t voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, he’s voiced by Daniel Logan, who played Boba in Episode II and the Clone Wars. Almost all the characters in this game who appear in Clone Wars are voiced by their Clone Wars voice actors with some minor exceptions.
Nope, not at all. I actually WISH they brought Brekin Meyer and Seth McFarlane back for Boba and Palps. Would have been a funny voice for the kids and absolutely genius for the adults.
Boba sounds more like Jason Wingreen's version of the character from the original release of Episode V. Daniel was probably going for a voice that matched more closely with his, especially given the amount of subtle references in this game and how there was some controversy with Wingreen's lines being dubbed over in the special editions.
Original trilogy Boba was voiced by his TCW/AOTC actor, Daniel Logan, not Dee Bradely Baker doing a different voice. It still doesn’t sound much like Temuera Morrison but when I hear that voice I recognise it as Boba so I’m fine with it personally.
I actually like Kylo's voice in this game, he kinda changes the character to a more dead tone and sarcastic dude, which is already more enjoyable then having anger issues as a personally
I personally love Dark Ray's voice lines, it's a character who's not intimidating at all trying to be mysterious and Evil. Yes they were bad but they were comedically bad and it seemed like that was intentional so it got a laugh out of me.
In my country (Brazil), the voice acting was made by the oficcial voice actors from the movies and TV series. So every voice in the game is the exact same voice we know and love.
For me, since I've only played through the Prequels, Young Anakin is a bit too higher pitched than how he sounds in the movies. Also they didn't do a good job on General Grievous' robotic sound effect voice
@@VinVonVoom Good voice acting would mean that you wouldn't hear anakin as a woman. Bart is a great example of this as he is voiced by a woman and sounds just like a guy.
While playing episode IV I genuinely thought those lines to be ripped directly from the movies and was surprised when I found out that that wasn't the case. The guy just really sounds like Alec Guinness
Most of the actors for Episode 4-9 are actors that were picked for the Lego TV specials and the Forces of Destiny shorts. Old Obi-Wan, Emperor and Vader are the exception, it's the actor who played him for Rebels and Disney Infinity instead. For Vader, it's an actor who has done in multiple projects for almost 2 decades. So in that aspect, they did get actors who played the characters previously instead of brand new people
Going to have to disagree with this, I played through the entire game and thought the voice acting was phenomenal. One of the best voice acted games I have ever played.
Personally don't mind Palpatine's interactions, but I do feel like in some of the very famous movie lines (like unlimited power) you do notice it's Witwer over McDiarmid.
The actors they got for the characters are not the movie actors they are the voice actors who played the same character in multiple series, shorts, and video games which is why some of them sound off.
You make the point that the voice actors sound nothing like their characters from the movies but Matt lanter sounds nothing like anakin in the movies but that doesn’t bother you, and don’t give me the clone wars excuse because you’re talking about the movies for everyone else
Their voices don't have to be completely perfect to match the movies and the shows. They did the best they could. Although Anakin's and Obi-Wan's voices are done by the same voice actors from the Clone Wars and I ain't complaining. James Arnold Taylor NAILS it in this game.
I was actually super annoyed at the Qui Gon impression. He just sounds like Yularen (or the announcer in the title crawl of TCW) trying to do an impression of Liam Neeson and uses a much higher almost nasally tone and has none of the timbre that makes Neeson so iconic.
Vader, Kid Anakin and Young Luke seemed REALLY off Especially young Luke - who seemed even WHINIER than REGULAR Luke... ... ... Didn't think that was possible :P
I was scrolling down the comments looking for someone who also didn’t like Young Luke’s voice, honestly thought he sounded worse than most of the characters talked about on this video except Kylo Ren
I am absolutely sure that Boba wasn't meant to be voiced after the original actor - it would be lower and raspier. Daniel Logan's voice acting is actually a reference to young Boba in the Clone Wars as well as the deleted bounty hunter arc of the Clone Wars, in which he voiced the fully suited, young adult Boba facing off against Cad Bane. I certainly do hope that Temuera comes back to voice a Book of Boba skin for the character, always wanted to have him say some silly line in a Lego game, maybe how he always has a different voice from the other clones despite being a clone of Jango himself.
Mathew Wood previously voiced Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Battlefront II, but only when he had the mask on. I feel like the voice he gives him without the mask is the same performance as if the mask were on, except with all of the voice editing being removed. I kinda wish they got Roger Craig Smith to voice him again since he sounded good when he voiced Kylo Ren without the mask in Star Wars: Battlefront II.
It's a lego game. Unlike previous Lego games based on movies, they used the movie audio instead. I like that they used the voice actors from the clone wars and different voice actors to add more dialogue to the game. I can understand if this was another star wars game but like I said before it's a Lego game at the end of the day, and I like Daniel Logan voicing Boba Fett in the game.
Tom Kane did not voice Qui Gon in this game. He had a stroke back in 2020 and he had to retire, for example he voiced the call of duty zombies character Takeo and when cod mobile had a limited time mode with the zombies characters, Tom Kane did not reprise his role.

Does it really matter though if some characters don't sound like their counterparts? This isn't something that's gonna keep you from sleeping at night so it's fine.
Doesn't really matter, still makes for a fun video tho
According to the Mario fandom, it is more important than your own reputation.
During the first level of episode 3 General Grievous sounded like a completely different person, while in the cutscene he sounds really good, same for level 2 of episode 3 and free roam, but he also sounds bad during his death scene, that’s very weird and I think it should be an honourable mention
I feel like the dark Rey thing is on purpose tbh
@@skythebunny yes Kylo sounds like a Vader fanboy, which he is in LEGO.
I think dark Rey herself is kind of a joke. Not in a bad way, but like isn’t meant to be taken all that seriously, such as by the line “that’s right I’m evil now”
Boba sounds like if kid boba had his dads armor with Christmas colors
Bro he's imitating the original Boba Fett voice, pre Temura Wilson.
Yeah, I honestly hated Qui-Gon's voice here. Sounds nothing like him.
This stuff just seems like a nitpick to me to be honest.
Especially when you have actual really bad issues with the game nobody wants to talk about.
@@classic_jam Especially those fucking smuggler missions. Those zones were clearly not playtested, otherwise they would actually have completed, collisable textures.
I haven't bought the game nor will I
@@matthewcooke117 There is definitely problems with the game but from what I've played, the positives outweigh the negatives and the game is really fun.
LOL emotional during the sequels? Theyre trash and impossible to get 'Emotional' about.
@@DIsturbios1234 Did you know? I don’t give a crap. I will enjoy whatever I please to. I don’t fault you at all for disliking the sequels but I will not agree with you.
I think Kylo is fine with his helmet on but helmet off sounds bad
@@DIsturbios1234 Hating the sequels for existing is getting very old.
Also it is possible. Just don't be high and you'll feel true pain.
@@garfieldunderpants9914 Its not hating them for existing. Its hating them because of how they're written and what they are.
Daniel Logan voices Boba.
Yeah, he seems to be uninformed.
How does not sounding like the original constitute bad voice acting?
Right? That’s exactly what I’m trying to understand.
If a character has an established voice and you're trying to mimic it, there's no excuse
Especially because LEGO literally had all the perfect actors from Clone Wars and other VA material, like you have Bradley Dee Baker who's the perfect Fett voice and yet you give Boba a voice that makes him seem even dumber than he was in Episode 6.
Yeah man I think the comments general consensus kinda point to the fact most people don’t seem to mind too much. Game still seems fun and the right notes are still hit. A pretty solid cast overall.
yeah. it was a little jarring to me at first but i kinda got over it
YOUNG ANAKIN, In my opinion he sounds the WORST.
Dee Bradley Baker voices Clone Troopers and Perry the Platypus. Let that sink in.
Dee Bradley Baker didn't voice Boba Fett in this game - Daniel Logan did.
RLY?? How can u not feel Sam witwer's palpatine's voice... its not 2 actors! its just the direction they wanted sam to sound like.
If you hate it that much, mod the damn game.
I did it with the TF2 characters in Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed on Steam, you can do it with this.
Qui gons was easily the worst one. It was horrible.
Immediate lost cred with that first selection.
we gonna omit the fact that daniel
logan reprised his role in this game as boba specifically as a creative decision, instead of having dee bradley baker voice him?
Personally i wished Morrison voiced the clones jango and boba
You know Boba was voiced by Daniel Logan right? Also, does how the voice actors sound really matter? It’s a game for kids.
Leave my man Daniel Logan out of it bruh
Checking the dislikes doesn’t matter anymore, if you see the ratio of the view count and the likes are WAY different, then you get if a video is well received or not. A liked video usually has one like for every ten views
fun fact, Matthew Wood also voices General Grievous and the B1 battle droids
the game is so big but yet people really like to nick pick on the most minor of things
I actually like Kylo Ren's voice. He sounds like a massive dork version of Adam Driver and I really like it from a LEGO game perspective.
Boba Fett's voice reminds me of his voice in the Robot Chicken sketches.
There needs to be a mod where choosing Boba has him say "BACK FROM THE DEAD, ASSHOLES!"
Yes they were bad but they were comedically bad and it seemed like that was intentional so it got a laugh out of me.
trust me, the german version is much bader!😂
This is interesting. I might actually look into that. Got any examples of voice actors REALLY off from the source material?
- Charlie
worse*
@@smogYT I think they are German because if you check their channel it's all German stuff. That's probably why they used improper grammar.
By curiosity: why?
Even though some of the voices are not accurate, I still like this game.
In my country (Brazil), the voice acting was made by the oficcial voice actors from the movies and TV series. So every voice in the game is the exact same voice we know and love.
This man will find anything to complain about ffs…
For me, since I've only played through the Prequels, Young Anakin is a bit too higher pitched than how he sounds in the movies. Also they didn't do a good job on General Grievous' robotic sound effect voice
Young Anakin sounds too much like a grown woman doing a child voice. Which is exactly what it is but still.
@@VinVonVoom Good voice acting would mean that you wouldn't hear anakin as a woman. Bart is a great example of this as he is voiced by a woman and sounds just like a guy.
@@cookiecreeperplayz Considering Bart's not voiced at all in LEGO Dimensions, terrible comparison.
While playing episode IV I genuinely thought those lines to be ripped directly from the movies and was surprised when I found out that that wasn't the case. The guy just really sounds like Alec Guinness
I don't think that Palpatine line sounds bad at all. It sounds like Ian McDiarmid's Palpatine pretending to sound friendly.
Eh this vide ain't it, chief
None of his vids are
Most of the actors for Episode 4-9 are actors that were picked for the Lego TV specials and the Forces of Destiny shorts. Old Obi-Wan, Emperor and Vader are the exception, it's the actor who played him for Rebels and Disney Infinity instead. For Vader, it's an actor who has done in multiple projects for almost 2 decades. So in that aspect, they did get actors who played the characters previously instead of brand new people
Just because they don’t sound like the character, doesn’t mean that it’s bad voice acting.
Kylos voice is definetley off
Going to have to disagree with this, I played through the entire game and thought the voice acting was phenomenal. One of the best voice acted games I have ever played.
it's just cool in general a game with THIS many character has full voice acting for everything. Nothing is left to reading text boxes.
@@tostie3110 The droids have great VAs
Personally don't mind Palpatine's interactions, but I do feel like in some of the very famous movie lines (like unlimited power) you do notice it's Witwer over McDiarmid.
It isn't an Eckstoo video without resonance in the background for at least 10 seconds
A lot of these are pretty weak criticisms
i like kylo but just because he sounds like an edgy teen which is pretty funny tbh.
I like how they brought back bobas actor from prequels
Their voices don't have to be completely perfect to match the movies and the shows. They did the best they could. Although Anakin's and Obi-Wan's voices are done by the same voice actors from the Clone Wars and I ain't complaining. James Arnold Taylor NAILS it in this game.
Great videos bro, keep up the grind!
I was actually super annoyed at the Qui Gon impression. He just sounds like Yularen (or the announcer in the title crawl of TCW) trying to do an impression of Liam Neeson and uses a much higher almost nasally tone and has none of the timbre that makes Neeson so iconic.
Neeson has quite unique voice anyway.
I feel the same way, I thought Qui Gon was disappointing, he doesn’t sound like Liam Neeson in the movie at all
I feel like they could have brought back Fred Tatasciore back, dude did a pretty good Neesan Impression
Is it actually Tom Kane or is it someone else doing Qui Gon? Since Tom Kane had a stroke, unless his lines were recorded before
@@lovelo8780 That’s Tom Kane, his lines were probably recorded before his tragic stroke
Vader, Kid Anakin and Young Luke seemed REALLY off
Especially young Luke - who seemed even WHINIER than REGULAR Luke... ... ...
Didn't think that was possible :P
I thought the vader voice was great but I agree with the other ones
I was scrolling down the comments looking for someone who also didn’t like Young Luke’s voice, honestly thought he sounded worse than most of the characters talked about on this video except Kylo Ren
How did he not mention Little ani?
Why didn't they use hayden for anakin
When I unlocked Boba for the first time and heard the voice I immediately switched back to Jango
Isn't the guy who voices Boba the guy who played Boba.
I think luke (ep 6) and the rancor aren't right
Tom Kane did not voice Qui Gon in this game. He had a stroke back in 2020 and he had to retire, for example he voiced the call of duty zombies character Takeo and when cod mobile had a limited time mode with the zombies characters, Tom Kane did not reprise his role.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the grevious lines where they didn’t modulate his voice (unless I missed it somehow)
The first level in ROTS when Grievous talks to Anakin and Obi-Wan on the screens?
@@AnAnimatorsWorld yep that’s what I was thinking about
@@Aleadfarmer904 It was very distracting and wonder how they missed that lol
