My mom has a normal moderate lease spec 4cyl f-pace. The loaner cars at our dealer are all similar f-paces, I’ve done a lot of things while having fun on dirt roads in the loaner f-pace, that chassis is so good for an SUV, svr with stiffer suspension and the glorious V8 must be killer! Velar and F-pace are on a modular jag platform used with the xf and xe, RR sport is a Range Rover underneath.
NaughtyUse 😆 but too late I guess. The new RRS is right around the corner, but still L494 will be the most appreciated Range Rover by me. Just near perfection! Everything that you’d want in a single vehicle
NaughtyUse yes it is. That’s why I’m gonna hate the new one. Not just because of the engine but design too I guess. The BMW V8 won’t come close to this 5.0 V8
Yeah because they’re fucking gas guzzlers. Besides, what would you ever do it for? A track? Nah. This car was only to be bragged about and shown off every once in a while.
Here's the thing, only you will know the value of something when it is paid by your very own hard earned cash. "Na, I just got paid today" - RR Sport SVR.
The engineers were ex Williams F1 people. They amended the torque so instead of increasing in a curve as normal it increases almost vertically from almost idle speed.
I almost managed to stop configuring and browsing used Range Rover Sports after your last 5.0 video, then I start obsessing over the full size RRs and almost stop that as well and here now you release this, sending me to the SVR configurator before even half of the video went by. It's good I can't afford the vehicles you get to test drive because my account would be significantly impacted with almost every video you release...
I love Range Rovers to death, if only they would fix their reliability. I think like 9/10 friends of mine that had Defender, Discovery, Range Rover all had really bad issues with the cars. Btw if you happend to get your hands on one, please review the "same engine" Jaguar XF-R. I had the pleasure to test drive one back in '12 and it still scares me to this day.
Great review and totally agreed that the RRS SVR is awesome. Land Rover will stop using the 5.0 litre engine in the upcoming facelift model, so the current RRS SVR may well remain as popular as ever in future because of that 5.0 litre engine.
😂 why’re you so obsessed with their reliability. It’s far better now. The 5.0 V8 and the ZF- 8 speed will hardly go wrong. If you’re talking about unreliability it’s the electrical gremlins and nothing else! Also don’t ever buy a LR soon after it release. Wait 2-3 years and then get the vehicle you won’t have issues I believe
I own a V8 Rover Sport Supercharged with the same interior and Fuji white exterior. It's a beast and I love it, but I'm seriously wanting to graduate to an SVR 😍🥰.
Just FYI, the RRS are all sports. You drove the supercharged dynamic or P525 with 518 BHP. This is SVR, the other sports are HST 395 BHP turbo 6 or 350 bhp turbo 6. Now 2023 next gen RRS have changed. Nice job
My moms leased 2020 jag has weird electrical issues with the infotainment system and cabin lights. The JLR thing about electronics is kinda true in my limited experience. I don’t understand why the British can’t make a car with 100% normal and working electronics, but it kinda adds to the charm. 🤣
Fun fact the SVR was actually tuned around the Nürburgring track back when it came out to be classified the fastest SUV in the world for the longest time that’s why it can handle corners so well it was literally made to be a “super” luxury suv lol 😂
9:38 I'm not sure how the SVR exactly relates to the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, but didn't the latter employ a certain Mr. Metcalfe as an advisor, and he has two cars in his garage with basically this same engine.
This is fast enough. Yes its 4.5 to 60 much slower then the competition but that's due to a lack of launch control. IF you do a really good break boost you can get it down to 4 and after that it keeps up. If you really push it on the highway it can hit 300kph. It also feels faster then an x5m even tough it isn't because of how high you are sitting. It can keep up with the Germans. And those cars arent really real suvs and have nothing on this offroad. Its real competitior is a g63. They are about equal in speed eventough this beast has a much better engine. Also the p525 feels and is much slower due to tuning.
That sound is just magnificient. I should try to use a V8 engine to make my music^^ It's so delicious. I just can't believe this will somehow dissapear in the coming years. Awesome presentation !
This by far the Durango may have slightly more HP but that hardly matters when this is still capable of going places off road and wading in the Durango only wishes it could
I always loved the Jaguar-Land Rover 5.0L Supercharged V8s. Saddest parts about them is that they have bad reliability and JLR is doing away with the ICEs later down the road. Enjoy them while they can.
Amazed you made it through the test without an engine management light coming on. Having worked for jlr, these are just about the most unreliable cars on the road today

@Street Performance Bikes I have a 1995 Range Rover V8. I put 97 octane in it. It goes like a rocket!! I know it's old technology but use the right petrol, use the right oils and these machines will run and run and run!!

The US exhaust on the SVR sounds so menacing compared to the castrated EU version!
Weirdly that's not true. Somehow JLR avoid emissions. Because the EU version sounds just as insane.
