This bad boy is perfect for me. There is no gaming in my theater room. When I fire up my system it’s for movie day only. Give me a straight laced big block engine that delivers dense hp with beautiful sonics. I don’t need the wind chimes. The only sweet bells and whistles I want are in the movie’s soundtrack. I’m digging Emotiva’s chosen direction for home theater. Keep pushing👏👏👏👏👏

I'm happy for the price I paid for it. It's gone up and it's north with it now the extra £500.
It does what I need it to do. Don't need streaming. Initial firmware had flaws but tonewinner pulled through. Emotiva haven't released any firmware.
So if it's the same with the avr, I'd wait and see what firmware support differences between the tonewinner and this avr compares. I find it funny that people completely disregard the product because it doesn't have HDMI 2.1. As he explained, you can use eARC from the receiver to the monitor, etc. Why people need multiple 8k sources connected to an amp is just silly. A ps5 or xbox series can give you all the 8k video playback you need, connected directly to the monitor with minimal latency. You sure as shit ain't going to find an "AVR" with this kind of power for less than 2100

Also, please keep HDMI switching as a feature. I heard Dan say it might go away, which sounds completely backwards to me. I would ventrue to that guess most people who have an AVR also use it as a centralized device hub and hdmi switching is a convenience feature that people actually use.

I'm rocking an Onkyo and, as you know, while it's more than decent it only provides ratings 2-ch driven and lacks the necessary power to drive my speakers at their best. The fact this pushes 130W/Ch RMS @ 4 Ohms all-ch driven is nuts. I hope it supports bi-amping for the main front speakers, so that if height speakers aren't used, you can bi-amp the front tower speakers to drive them properly. If it only had a phono input for a turntable and 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 ports it would be just perfect. Maybe for the next model ;)

There are definitely some compromises that will be made when you buy this product. But I will say this. The sound that comes out of this thing is amazing! All AV receivers seem to be having their issues lately. Before I purchased the Emotiva I was on my second RZ-50. I am hoping that when an update/upgrade comes that I will be able to send my unit to Emotiva and get it. I have been happy with everything that I have purchased so far. The Basx line has been able to allow me to have the big theater sound but not the big out of reach price. Keep on making things better. I am currently having the signal pop issue with the apple TV, and I wish that this unit had the signal pass through and being able to switch between devices with a click of the remote device and not the receiver device. Other than that, all of the other things that I thought I would miss... I don't. But having that sound... Priceless!

@@Audiomainia2310, like I stated earlier. There are more qualified reviewers than Andrew Robinson. What does @Cheapaudioman have to do with talking about Andrew Robinson?. Why bring in someone who has absolutely nothing to do with this without him being able to defend himself?. You must be an audiophile yourself. If so, that will explain everything to me. Audiophiles look for a certain setup that's perfect to their ears and never find it and the whole time they try so hard to convince everyone who'd listen to them that they can hear things only audiophiles can hear. Like audiophiles have some special kind of hearing given to them by GOD himself. Cheapaudioman is a good man. No need to disrespect him. Disrespect me if it makes you feel better but just don't be a snake.

Hey Billy... I have the Onkyo RZ-50 now and it runs with Dirac Live. It made a good improvement to my sound since I don't have room treatment. I haven't made any manual adjustments yet because I'm not familiar with where to fine tune the frequencies on the graphs.

@@shaolin95 Yeah, but is Dirac the cure-all? If you have Dirac, does nothing else matter? I have no doubt Dirac can improve the sound of a system but up to a certain point. This is an audiophile level system and it has Room Correction that you can tweak real-time to make corrections.

All sub $2000 AVRs have trade offs. The RZ50 has Dirac, but the Amp goes into limp mode at 50 watts/channel. Emotiva chose a larger amp and a less capable room correction system.

Great presentation and very impressed with the build quality of this unit. However, on a very minor note, shouldn't this product be considered an "Integrated Amplifier"? I always thought a "Receiver" is denoted as such when a radio tuner is built into it.

Is HDMI 2.1 integration such a mess? I get the eARC for Gamers but 2.1 on a unit that will be relevant for decade+ seems to be a miss. Yes, my OLED has ALLM VRR 120Hz gaming and eARC but switching input and media with multiple remotes etc is what you'd hope to avoid with a center piece like this. Is the cost that much more? Now you need to choose what is the center piece. This or your TV when you enjoy both movies and games. I guess it's all part of the learning curve. Smart TV features essentially require TV remotes. At this rate I might as well keep using my Yamaha RX-V2095 from 1998 despite the value the MR1 represents. We run PC gaming, Series X and PS5 and streaming services. My 2019 C9 has 4 HDMI 2.1 48Gb/s inputs.

I’m not so sure about this. Some cool stuff in the design philosophy: 11 channels of amplification with a ton of power. Balanced sub outputs. Built in PEQ. But Emotiva products are very dated when it comes to the UI and control. Also, very spotty with the HDMI switching from my experience. In regards to HDMI 2.1, I personally don’t have a use for it in my theater but I would still factor it in to my decision if I was purchasing a new AVR or processor. Lastly, the room correction is not good. So, while it’s a cool product with some nice features I still think there’s a lot going against it.

Question I have any chance of emo coming out with 16x2/4 switch, plus a legacy solution adding 10-16 a/v to 2xhdmi output with 11x pass through
looking for hdmi and av solutions of greater capacities looking from a gamer/streamer perspective here with something that can live in rack beside or under this,,
have perchance looked in pioneer receivers what would be a weight difference between 1 single toroid vs 11 smaller toroids???

I could buy any other company's product and be good to go for gaming, or I could buy Emotive and have to pull another cable through my walls and ceiling to the projector, then pray eARC actually works and that the projector is capable of outputting audio to a different HDMI cable than the input cable. What do you think I'm going to do? I love the amps, but charge $200 more and sell us a product we can use, please. I literally had this in the shopping cart when I saw this 2.0 insanity. If I were CEO at Emotiva, heads would be rolling right now.

!QUESTION! - Can the outputs be renamed for different configurations? Explanation: Ultimately, I want to end up at 9.2.4 configuration, including 2 front wide channels, which would require another amp, (plan for another day), but I would plan to use a Basx A2 or A3 to drive the front 2 or 3 channels respectively . In the meantime, I'd be happy running this as a 7.2.4 (minus the front wides), or as a 9.2.2 (with the front wides). Of those two options, I'd prefer the 9.2.2 setup since I already own the front wide speakers, and would just have to purchase 2 atmos channels. In regards to all of the above, can the outputs be reconfigured even through they are labeled what they are on that back, or are you stuck using them as labeled? If anyone could answer, I'd be greatly appreciative. Thank you!
