When i first started learning Korean it was during quarantine and it was my first time ever learning a new language from scratch. I had no set plan and would just watch random videos of vocab and grammar it kind of helped but i wasn't really getting anywhere. I have a doubt though, I still don’t get why there is 고 in 버스 타고? What other action are you connecting it with? Why would someone say "버스 타고 갑니다." and not just "버스 탑니다."? Does it mean something different? Also, similar question, why would one say "걸어가요" instead of just saying just "걸어요"? Does it mean something different as well? Is it like the first expression in some way?
버스 타고 갑니다. means “I ride a bus to go.” and "버스 탑니다" means “I ride a bus.” In English "버스 탑니다" “I ride a bus” sounds natural. However, in Korean, 버스 타고 갑니다 “I ride a bus to go” is more natural. Likewise, "걸어요" means “I walk” and "걸어가요" means “I talk a walk.” You can use both expressions.
@@Tammy_Korean okay so I almost have reprogram my brain somehow. So instead 고 simply functioning as 'and'; it is like directly connecting the phrases. I guess knowing how 고 also connects things like 싶 or 있 to give greater meaning, or all the other larger phrases, and in addition like 려 and 려 or even tangentally how ㄹ 수 reads back onto itselfm etc.
