    Went back and finished this video. I too didn’t want the Gold Eagles when I started stacking. The Queens Beast sucked me in. I started buying deals too, random everything and then I went to my LCS for the very first time and he didn’t want the British, Austrian, Chinese coins. He wanted Eagles, only good looking Maples or Krugerrands. Strong emphasis on Eagles. So I took some hits but gradually sold all of my foreign gold bullion and have only US Mint Gold now for all these reasons. I love the foreign stuff, but I need a bigger foundation before I start buying collector and less liquid coins. A+’video

    I don't have any of these yet, but just looking at the images I think the Canadian Maples are much more attractive than Buffaloes & Eagles. The latter seem to be in urgent need of some redesign, but that's just my opinion. I have seen an Australian Kangaroo in hand, that is indeed impressive! Plus they change their design every year.
    Offcourse, since I live in the US holding more American gold coins than Canadian would make sense.

I live in Southeast Asia. Gold dealer here will eagerly trade for your Eagles once they confirm purity. Very interested to see new security features incorporated into the Eagles and Buffaloes. This will be a significant step forward. Please keep us post as you learn more! Thank you.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  4 роки тому

      That's interesting for sure. I always think of Australian Kangaroos/Nuggets and Krugerrands being the go-to coins there like Canadian Maple Leafs and Eagles are popular here. I like the Buffalo because it's a blend of the popular features of those two coins. (Dealers will pick up any of the government minted coins, but I try to stick to the regional favorites to preserve the extra value and liquidity.) I'm definitely watching for updates on the new AGE security features. That's going to be a big boost to the coin. Thanks for watching!

I give up a little in that it is a "foreign" coin. But I am buying them for roughly $40 less and they are awesome..
    I was in my local coin shop yesterday and asked him what he had for 1 oz Gold. He said "Buffalos and Eagles". Turns out he was selling them for the same price. ???
    So I asked if I could give him 20 Eagles for 20 Buffalo. He went to the boss man and came back shaking his head. Not possible. lol

    It depends on one thing apart from cost and that is the tax treatment of your stack. I.e. tax on purchase and tax on disposal. So if you take US gold we in the U.K. would be liable to be taxed on the profit made outside of your tax allowance. You would be taxed on death for inheritance purposes outside of the allowance. However you have NO tax liability on and British gold coin made from gold as they are classed as currency. So no VAT no CAPITAL GAINS TAX and NO INHERITANCE TAX. saying that you could have other gold and you could use your allowance to elevate your liability..

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  4 роки тому

      Sherab Namdhak very much so. Each country has their own tax implications, and each region has their own preferences. I wouldn’t recommend the Eagle in most places outside of the U.S.. Thanks!

    Nice gold stack! 👍 In my experience, coin dealers/shops around me will always buy gold, albeit at a lower price for non-American gold coins. Never had any issues selling gold (unlike silver where some dealers are a bit more picky on what they buy, even at below spot).

      They’d be more recognizable than a gold round (but not a coin).

    I learned from my coin dealer not to buy collectibles. When gold first shot to $1900 in 2011 he told me newer eagles were worth the same as some older collector gold coins. There are some of course that are quite a lot. If times get tough, I figure American Eagles will be more in demand. I liked the Krugerands and Canadian Maples of which I have a few. The Tax Factor is important when selling. You can have a larger cash amount of silver and gold eagles tax breaks than other countries coins taxable tax table amounts. If you present an average stranger with choice of coins in tough times, chances are they will pick eagles. I have also bought some name brand bullion silver and gold small bars when premiums go too high on coins. These will be sold first if Metals go way up in the future.

    “It depends,” oh my, if I had a nickel every time I’ve told someone that same answer but in the legal realm. I think it depends on the market. When the market is hot, gold, all gold, seems to fly in and out of the LCS. That said, I still see the LCS offer 97% of spot for maples and 98% of spot on eagles, etc., while other coins such as roosters are getting less. I still buy it all, probably because I haven’t put as much thought into it as you have, because I don’t really have a true exit strategy; rather, I plan to will them to family and let them deal with it! Lol.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  4 роки тому +1

      Ha. I like the idea of passing down the seller issues! "Cursed gold. Here you go!"
      I can get 95%-97% for pristine Maples, but I'll get 99%-100% for Eagles. 90% for Roosters if they'll take them and a bit more for Sovereigns. The bigger issue for me is whether or not they would take them at all in a true emergency. I had a real estate opportunity come up when I wasn't ready and wanted to sell some gold to take the sting off of it. I wasn't able to sell more than a few ounces of Roosters locally, and I got a terrible price for them. The same dealers would have taken 100 Eagles without blinking.
      I'm planning to hand down all my gold too, but I want to be able to put it to work if something terrible (or a great opportunity) comes up. That's why I want liquid gold first, cursed gold second! :)
      Thanks for watching! I loved your last video.

    What is the difference or does the year matter a lot? I have noticed some coins are slightly cheaper because the year for example is 2012?

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  4 роки тому

      Great question. As long as the coin is noted as BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) there will be no physical difference in gold coins from the U.S. Mint. Everything including the design is the same. The reason 2020 coins have the additional premium is that it has emotional value to people stacking/collecting gold because of the current world events. Normally, I buy the newest coin I can find without paying an extra premium to do so. I have grabbed a few 2020 coins (and paid extra), though, because they represent something I'll remember for a long time.

    By the way, I'm happening to see your (already) old videos like this one, and I noticed a big change in respect to your current videos (2023, 2024), which contents I find to be much more complex, I would say even cryptographic, it's curious how remarkable was that change (just my personal opinion). Here's your answer. Maybe TMI for most people. Just a quick note of what I've been watching.......Watch ITM trading, George Gammon, Mike Maloney, Peak Prosperity, on the Tube.
    Lynette Zang of ITM has real world info. that most people can understand if they want to. If we "USA" do have a change in currency, currency re set, gold seems to be a hedge in that respect, because gold has been used as money all over the world for so long, and a benchmark of purchasing power.
    While our fiat petrodollar seems to be on its way to oblivion, the world hates the US using its currency as a weapon against them, forcing the dollar to be used in trade. They want to use their own currency and not be a slave to the US.
    If our dollar collapses, and an exchange ratio of 100 or 1000 to 1 to the new currency would mean most people will get wiped out, just like other countries are now doing. Gold should still have good purchasing power while the dollar becomes virtually worthless. Most think we will go to a digital form of currency, like much of the world is planning on. Those studying this stuff seem to think we are a couple years away from this happening.
    Maybe others have some knowledge on this.......

    The question is: why don't you sell your coins to some large gold trading entities, but to your local pawn shops?
    The premium of the gold coin is the extra price on top of the price of gold for the same weight and purity, which is also known as spot price. They might take its premium off for the damage. but should not give you less the spot price.

Even though they give you some of the premium back on the eagle, it's not enough as you pay way more for the eagle then the bar. You come out ahead when you buy and sell a bar. I agree with the American Buffalo. I am buying one this week. But tech on gold coins is good for authentication as the Canadian Mint and Perth Mint do. But does that mean you bullion is trackable, confiscatable? I always saw precious metals as a solid escape from the tech madness we live in.

    • @2is1gold
      @2is1gold  4 роки тому +1

      Gil Balfas the privy marks on Canadian Maple Leaf coins are used for authentication. The tech could hypothetically be used to track to whom a coin is initially sold, but no more so than an initial sale of a coin without the mark at this point. Down the road many years, it could change. We’re a long way from that concern - the American Eagle coins will roll out the tech for the first time in 2021. (The authentication, not necessarily any possible tracking.) I don’t see coin registration coming any time soon, and I doubt many people would volunteer the info even if it was available. Thanks!

    Hi. I agree with you on the Maple. A gold coin should be shiny. A question though, does it really matter the premium or spot price? If you bought a less popular coin, it would also cost less. If you pay a premium, you should get the premium back when you sell it.

      My primary local coin shop will pay a premium back for Eagles (silver or gold) but nothing else. They cost the most, but if you bought a coin and immediately sold it back, the Gold Eagle is the one that will ‘depreciate’ the least.
