Well, after a short hiatus we're back on trail and ready to put in some miles! Day 117 started out at a freezing 22 degrees but the views were worth it. It was like we were walking through a winter wonderland in the forrest. So pretty! Day 118 unfortunately halted our progress again. The cold temperatures along with the rain/snow made for dangerous hiking on the ridge so we opted for another zero day. Thanks to our trail angel Lynn for helping us stay positive and recover! Day 119 we were back on trail and determined to make up some miles we missed the last few days. So what did we do? We hiked our longest day yet...26.3 miles to be exact! That's longer than a marathon people!
Follow along with us as we southbound thru-hike all 2,194 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia to raise money for Parkinson's Disease Research!!
I like that you remain teachable. So many vloggers are not humble enough to say...we learned, we made adjustments. Great character!
Ohhhhh we were very humbled the day we failed, but always learning!
So many miles a day! 7 is the most for me. Sue you are my inspiration!
Thank you Cindy! Will pass this along. 7 is still a lot of miles, keep going!
You two are an inspiration for all thru hikers...you go!!!!
Awww thank you!! And anybody can thru-hike…it’s soooo mental!
@@appalachiantrailforparkins1185 oh yes..I think you have to be tough mentally..it's not easy physically and alot of thru hikers forget how mental it really is....
You are hiking smart ladies, you got this :)
I had forgotten about the bread bags, gee that brings back memories of childhood when we lived south and near the water. And the truckies beeping their horns when we did that, it was such fun, we loved doing that as kids. Thanks for the memories :D
Like mother, like daughter, you have both shown through this hike the ability to withstand adversity and bounce back from difficult life events, you are both so resilient. Someone once said... Resilience is when you address uncertainty with flexibility.... you ladies show that trait every day of this hike, no wonder you inspire so many, such great ambassadors.
Continue to stay safe :)
Awww your comments are so heartfelt! 💜And we sure love our bread bags! Old fashioned but they work!!

Your Channel popped up today and l think it is a great thing you're doing for Parkinson's Disease. I run a guide service on the A.T. April Thur October. I am a triple crown hiker. And have hiked Thur the years around 54,000 miles. The question so I can understand. When did you start and why are you still out so late in the year. I will continue to watch and contribute to our cause. Be safe !! Appalachian Adventures Guides. Trail Name 9 LIVES 🐾
Oh awesome that you’ve done so many miles!!! And my (Lilo) job ended late in the year, so because of that, we were forced to start late. But it’s all turning out just fine!
@@appalachiantrailforparkins1185 When is your planned completion date ?
Awesome miles!!! Invest in some water proof socks with injinji or other liners under them!! So worth it!!!! No slippery bags! Continued blessings 🙌
YES!! We have made a few changes😜
I totally forgot about bread bags! Great job to you both, and great job to Ron for the song :)
We love his sweet singing💜💜Record deal coming right up!
The only section of trail I have done is NOBO over Pearis Mountain about 25 years ago. I was sore for a week. 😆
Surprise you didn't give a shout out for "Angel's Rest' when you had the view at the top. 12:47
9:32. I almost forgot. The dogs are going to miss you all.
Angels Rest was beautiful!! And that’s still great, gotta keep hiking👍🏼👍🏼
Yes what matters first is safety and that you finish even if it’s not the exact date you wanted. You two are amazing. You should be proud of yourselves and glad your getting good advise from your trail angels
Yes totally agree. Safety will always be our number 1!
cold weather always keeps the bugs away......negative 5 in the ADKS this morning
It sure does! That’s one good thing!
Bread bags on your feet. Great idea. So glad for trail angel Lynn. Long haul girls!!!!!!! 26.3 miles. Wow So proud of you. Bless you both for safe travels.

Hahahahah thank you!!
this part of trail is close to my house it lese then 2 hour drive to get on trail there and have section hike this part
Love the bread bags. Used to do that when I was a kid for sledding in PA. If I remember correctly we would put rubber bands around them above our ankles to keep them from sliding into our shoes. Maybe try that 😂😊
YES that would work great! Mom’s bread bags kept sliding down!
Great to see you moving forward. Hoping for the best!
Thank you Brad!
unbelievable........ I hate hate hate winter........ I hate the cold...... I hate snow........ I hate dreary grey days........ there is nothing about winter I like...... I would not be able to force myself to go out in the cold and hike... kudos to you both!!! safe journey to you both...
The cold is definitely not for everyone and we totally get that! But when we are hiking, it gets HOT because we are working so hard
You guys are amazing! Living in Florida I miss the snow at the holidays, but I remember by February I was done with it. It is so pretty to see. Be safe, thanks for your videos I look forward to them.
Yes we love the snow…makes it feel like home. Although Florida during this time of year sounds wonderful!
Happy trails to you! You continue to manage this hike so well. Stitch you seem to be doing better and better. Well done on your self care. Lilo you are so funny! You just brightened up at the snow and cold. A true daughter of Minnesota. 🤣 Stay strong and see you in a couple of days.
We love the cold and snowy conditions!! Feels like a hug from home💜
Awww, evoking childhood memories with bread bags on your feet and getting the semis to honk their horns! 🥰 After all these years bread bags are still the best way to keep your feet warm and dry! (our parents and grandparents would be proud) How in the world do you follow the white blazes with the snow? And the dark?!? So many challenges that you both overcome daily. So inspired and amazed by both of you!! ⭐🏆
We love you Stacie! And bread bags!! And you kinda just get a feel for the trail and know where to go. And the white paint on the trees is actually super bright at night, so they are pretty easy to see!
You both are doing amazing! But yes, safety first! If the weather is bad or extremely cold, it is a good idea to take a zero even if it puts you a few days after your goal. You're almost done though Woo-hoo! 😊
Yes, totally agree. It would not have been safe to keep going that day!
